40th Birthday lunch. Beautiful birthday dessert presentation!!
Very nice restaurant.
The only thing wrong is that you must remember then about Open Table Special more than on time.
Great good. Recomend The Rock :)
Perfect for date
Suffers from the common issue of over describing food that just doesn't live up to the menu. Tofu and eggplant were misconceived, and calling it 'camponata' doesn't fix anything. Sweet potato tian and ceviche wonton tacos also underwhelmed. Raw fish was good but expensive.
The wine list is overpriced and the beer list insipid (at best), but everyone enjoyed their cocktails.
Service was very formal but friendly.
High hopes. A little under delivered. Food quality great. Service a tad lacking.
Excellent food, excellent service.
Friendly, efficient staff. Love the choices of entire menu or two-course / three-course options. Excellent salads.
Anzu is located on the second floor of the Nikko hotel on Mason. We arrived a little early, before it opened for the evening, had a drink and talked with the friendly bartenders. We were then shown to a window table and had an incredible dinner. The service was outstanding without being intrusive. There were other dates, families, and gatherings of friends, but nothing got in the way of the experience. My wife had Sushi while I chose an incredible steak. This is in our lists to visit on the next trip to San Francisco.
We really enjoyed Anzu. The atmosphere was great along with the service and food. Really enjoyed The Rock.
Brought my daughter here for the first time. Being in a rush before a 6:30 play, James was so considerate and helpful!!! He suggested we continue to relax in the lounge and he would make sure our meal was the first one out. He brought everything to us, allowing us to relax and not rush thru the dinner. We both had the salmon and it was delicious. Can't wait to return!
Staff was gracious and warm. Service impeccable. Food was lovely.
Everything was good , except the server. Very slow and careless service!
We really enjoyed this restaurant. We came the night after Valentine’s Day, the service and ambiance was amazing . Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable. He really made our night special. I really appreciated our server going over the courses and giving recommendations on wine. “The rock” was our favorite dish! We will defiantly be returning to this restaurant.
Food was not prepared properly. Extremely poor experience.
We were there to celebrate our best friends birthday.. she love it! Food was great, service could have been better but considering our demands it may have been the best our waitress could do.
Delicious food with amazing service. We felt very taken care of by our server, Darshan, and other staff member, David. They were all very attentive, and it definitely added to the experience. Starters were small, but artfully crafted. Entrees were actually large portions--the Miso cod entree was HEAVENLY and super buttery. Perfect place to celebrate our anniversary!
The Misoyaki Black Cod was on point! The Rock appetizer gave good portions.
This was my first time at this restaurant. I was meeting a friend for lunch and we both enjoyed it. I don’t remember the name of what I had but it was shrimp in a bowl with rice noodles, shredded cabbage and carrots and a delicious sauce. The whole thing was quite delicious . I was greeted warmly upon arrival and all the staff were friendly and helpful.
Have always loved it. Best kept SF secret. Excellent sushi and the best black cod ever. Kudos to the cheff!
Had dinner on the SF food week and ordered the special prix fixe dinner being offered. First up the salad it suppose to be an apple/arugula/endive/carrot pickle frisée with Roquefort and what I got was a salad made up mostly of radicchio and no cheese so the flavors were biter and nothing to balance it out. Also, there was only 1 small piece of a pickled carrot. Poor execution on the staff. Next up was misoyaki black cod (gindara) the fish was perfect the dashi was subtle with a hint of truffle. The pumpkin gnocchi on the other hand was as hard and over cooked; it was like chewing an old piece of gum and lacked any flavor and did not finished it. They were going make a couple of more but I declined because there was nothing to taste. Finally, the goat cheese cheesecake tasted old from the fridge and I don’t blame for making it in bulk for the menu but it was not satisfying at all.
This was there opportunity to win over customers and it did not do it for me. The waiter apologized for the errors and mentioned it to the chef and they did comp my daughters dessert to make amends but nothing wowed us. The staff was pretty friendly but there seems to be a disjointed effort; it lacked the seamless service that I get from a well run restaurant.
I love this restaurant. The food is excellent. Very high quality. The service is unparalleled. Stinks was kind and professional.
We were there for SF Restaurant week of $40 dinner set. The salad is not tasty. And has weird red polka dots dressing..The black cod main course was good, but portion is so small. The cheese cake has a weird goat cheese which I definitely do not like. Overall, the meal is just average or below average to me.
The octopus was flavorless and sushi very spicy and just ok. They told us about the free glasses of sparkling wine only at the end of the meal when we were ready to ask for the check and just leave.
I would not recommend it
Excellent service and delicious food.
Food was good. Service was excellent. However the portion was pretty small especially for the entree. Their sushi/nigiri menu has only a few choices.
The Sushi was good. We were completely ignored however. We sat at the sushi bar and no one even came to take a drink order. After 2 rolls we just decided to leave. I emailed the GM of the hotel but I haven’t heard back. Very disappointed to say the least.
Great service, excellent food. Highly recommend. Decently priced. Nice fancy date kinda place
we booked a table for 8 pm and had to wait until 9:20 to be seated.
Service staff very attentive, pleasant and competent.
Each dish nicely 'presented'.
The food was absolutely wonderful, from preparation to presentation, very pleasing. We especially enjoyed the cooking food on the stone and steak prepared by Japanese style.
The food was superb and exactly what we were hoping for and expecting if not exceeding our expectations on some dishes. The food was delicious and left us wanting more but we couldn’t fit anymore into our very satisfied belly’s haha. The service was amazing, the waitress was very knowledgable about the dishes and ingredients as well as very courteous. She catered to our needs quickly when needed without leaving us looking for our waitress. She was extremely attentive without being too bothersome for a romantic meal. The atmosphere was spectacular for a romantic setting and the lighting was perfect for mood setting. I give everything 5 stars undoubtedly and plan to return soon. We also tell people about this location because its so amazing which is located inside Nikko Hotel and would be my only complaint about my experience was that it was tough to locate as there is no closure about where the restaurants actual location would be located quite a few floors up inside of the Nikko Hotel. Other then that, it was an overall beautiful experience and a must do again.
We don’t like. The place is so beautiful but the food is so bad.
New year eve family get together
Hands down, the best sushi I've ever had. Delicious, and great service!
We had a great meal. The service was excellent. We ordered two first courses and two second courses. The server brought them out so we could share each. We had octopus, Anju roll, then sea bass and a udon noodle bowl. All were superb.
Passioned service took very good care of us, good food, lovely evening out.
We were seated 30 minutes after our 8pm reservation for the Christmas dinner buffet, and then at 9pm, we were told that the buffet was closed. Over $300 (including 18% gratuity added automatically for a party of only three) for mostly appetizers. Very disappointing experience and not good way to celebrate Christmas.
Had reservations for Christmas dinner buffet. Overall very good. Some of the meat was dry, but that par for the course on most buffets. My main complaint was that I had a reservation at 7:00PM and was not seated until a little after 7:30PM. I understand it's Christmas and you can't predict how long everyone will stay, but that was a bit excessive.
