The service is not in Line with the check of the resturant. Never again.
Service was great, food was not special.
Pretentious, overpriced and yet basic. V sashimi still had signs of plastic wrap embedded into the slices... The caprese was not a caprese... Classic bar beverages poured horribly... After a $200 first course we walked out feeling sad for anyone who gave this joint a positive review...because they can't know was good is...
Reunion with friends and a birthday
Amazing experience. A few unique amazing foods.
This would have been an outstanding dining experience if it was just about the very interesting take on Japanese food and excellent service. The dishes are favorable, beautifully presented and tasty. The service was exceptional and very attentive. My only knock on Anzu was the inability of the staff to handle the screaming child and the child's ill equipped parents. The persistent crying and screaming turned an otherwise pleasant experience into an unpleasant one. Perhaps it is the new norm i.e. permitting your baby to cry throughout a meal and disrupt the rest of the guests dining in the same small room, but it shouldn't and need not be the norm. Unfortunately, the restaurant manager failed to intervene and a very fine meal was spoiled. I'd try Anzu again but I would want to check the room for babies before committing.
I love this restaurant and will always come back. Their steaks, fish, Sushi and all else they serve are amazing. Service impeccable and the ambiance nice and quiet. They also have a tasting menu with or without pairing which is a really good deal!
We’ll return with friends
Wagu beef on rock was excellent. Service was fantastic! Come here and see a show at Feinstein’s. Great SF experience!
My card was lost during payment and charges came up almost immediately.
Menu somewhat limited but overall very good dinner.
The service was great, but overall, everything was a bit heavy-handed on the sauce and dressing. I’d say the side of mushrooms was the best bite.
Food was sub par
Wonderful food. Magnificent.
I previously had a dinner at The Nikko and was expecting a great experience. While the ambiance and service was nice, the dining options were average. There were few seafood options and those that were offered were similar to most every other restaurant in town. The sushi offerings were just average - a handful of rolls. There were very few wine options by the glass and no Sake. All in all, an underwhelming experience.
Our server was very nice and attentive. The food was decent.
The restaurant is beautiful and the service is amazing. The food is delicious but I did send an item back, which is why I gave it 4 stars. Recommended for anyone in the tenderloin who wants fancy, eclectic, beautiful restaurant with great service.
The service was very nice - and the food was pretty good. I got the garlic noodles with fried tofu. It was yummy but a little heavy. The salad was good and I really liked the bread. Pretty good portions.
I came in around 11:45 and it was very quiet - enough to hear a pin drop. I think having music playing would help the ambiance. There was lots of nice lighting and beautifully set tables.
Overall a good experience.
Nice location downtown. Excellent and varied menu. Service is terrific.
The brunch is awesome! So many choices and options for everyone to choose. It was a wonderful time and would recommend it.
Good food with friendly service staff in a beautiful environment and close to Union Square and the theaters. Everybody was professional and the place just shined with cleanliness and professionalism. We will be back for their brunch as the buffet looked delicious.
Nice place for a special Father’s Day celebration. Delicious choices for buffet and outstanding attentive service.
Our reason for returning to ANZU was the arrangement it has with Feinstein's (the night club) in the same hotel (Nikko) -- book a meal and get a better-seating opportunity at the club (that's exactly what happens, btw!). But we're glad we had a meal at ANZU, because it offers what many restaurants often slide on: excellent, enthusiastic service delivered at just the right level and pitch. The food? It's pretty darned good, with the sushi being a standout (the hotel traditionally caters to Japanese travelers). The restaurant has been around for awhile, and what with SF fully launched into its new, pricey life (not always (often?) for the better), it's nice to have a spot that is reliable, fun, enjoyable, and .. familiar.
Excellent food, amazing service!!! Ace was great and made it a special night.
Wonderful....I'm sure we will return. We asked for our own creation sushi roll and they made it perfectly.
The ambiance and service were excellent. The food was great but very small portions so be prepared if you are REALLY hungry.
We were weary sunburned tourists looking for healthy, light, delicious food in a casual setting. The food was delicious (do yourself a favor and order the black cod), and the service was expert, gentle even. Bring kids if you have them. Dress up or dress a little down. The staff and the menu will accommodate your needs.
the steam rice was moldy and nasty. I complained waiter to get new one but they said they cant.
i want my money back too.
Would not expect to find such a nice place in the Tenderloin. Located in the Hotel Nikko makes it hard to find it. Enjoyed a lot!
The food was quite good but our service was poor. One order was incorrect, another order did not appear, and the main course was late.
Service was great. Happy it wasn’t super crowded as is expected on Mother’s Day. Service was outstanding. Did not feel rushed at all. They kept replenishing food and the kitchen staff were accommodating enough to bring food to the table when they had run out.
Excellent food, service and overall feeling of doing something special. Pricey but for a preshow dinner it was great!
Very nice experience at Anzu. Food was superb. Wait staff was very attentive and friendly. If you go, try the appetizer called "The Rock". You cook tiny, thin slices of beef on a rock at 400 degree temperature. It sizzles and then you dip into any of 3 sauces. Very interesting and fun. Both the food and service at this restaurant is phenomenal. Highly recommend!
The food was excellent and the staff was attentive and professional. A wonderful way to celebrate our anniversary.
The service was excellent. The food looked amazing, but sadly, the taste was just mediocre. The value was not there for the quality. We would not return.
Lunch at Anzu is a good place for a meeting. It wasn't crowded at all, and the service and food were very good. We ordered the bento boxes, which had a nice variety and made it easy to concentrate on our meeting.
Nice restaurant, but foods were not as expected. The salmon I had was not fresh at all.
Food was bland
Service was ok
Quality did not justify prices
Great restaurant, even though it is in a hotel. Perfect choice before the show. The sushi is fabulous and the entrees are excellent, especially the salmon.
