The food is good but seems overpriced. Calm and quiet surroundings are nice. The servers seems to have to many tables assigned to each to give great service.
Superb service and delicious food. Pre theatre dinner we found this to be an excellent choice.
Great, friendly service!! Food was delish & prompt, but interiors, while relaxing & spacious, could use a bit of a refresh. They were a little dated.
Nice decor, service was ok. The Sushi was nice. The mains ok, lacked something. Expected more from the ratings the place has
Nice looking place... but a little over the top, not very good (food-wise) either.
Slow and disrespectful service...my steak was good, but the mash potatoes were cold..told the waiter and she brought back more cold mash potatoes...I was not impressed.
Service was a little slow, but the food was outstanding. We were so hungry we forgot to take pictures. The Rock is a must experience appetizer to share. The Chocolate Raspberry Dome Fog, brings the drama to dessert time.
we went for birthday dinner. evwrything was good except for the fact that tables are very close. a big party of 8 sat next to us and they were super loud.
We were having dinner in this place second time. The food was good, but the service is extremely slow. Like really slow
Great food, service and ambiance. Loved the buster roll and the "rock!"
Excellent sushi prepared by an artist. We always sit at the sushi bar and enjoy the show. Anzu still has fresh fish flown in from Tokyo and it's always superb.
Beautiful service and excellent food
Reserved Valentine's day dinner at Anzu while on a trip to San Francisco. A more restricted menu was available so we sampled the choices in association with wine pairings. Starters of Pea Veloute and Beets Carpaccio were good but nothing outstanding. Nigiri trio was very good but the lamb chops were not very flavorful. Scallops and filet of beef entrees were good but, again, nothing outstanding. The wine pairings were well selected and all above average wines. Overall, the meal was satisfying but that was expected. With the more narrowed menu I expected a bit more craft in the available items but it just wasn't there. Not a bad choice but nothing notable.
Good but pricey!!
My girlfriend and I experienced ANZU on Valentine’s Day. We enjoyed a drink at the bar before being seated. The bartender was friendly but seemed a bit “off.” During our meal there was old lipstick on my water glass and many of the dishes were soiled. The pea soup was not pleasing and there weals scales on the nigiri. My steak was luke warm while the mashed potatoes were scorching. Which caused me to burn my mouth. Not only were we not pleased with our experience we were forced to pay 20% gratuity on the bill.
The food is great. The ambiance doesn't match the skill of the food preparation.
The Lion King roll was amazing!!
Excellent food and great people, definitely would come back
food was soo good and staff was very friendly. best Japanese food
The service here was exceptional. We arrived between the breakfast sitting and lunch sitting. They allowed us to sit in the restaurant and have a cup of tea while they reset the restaurant for lunch. Though the food was very good, prices for lunch were overpriced ( more like prices for dinner). Portions were average, but well presented. Not sure we would return due to high prices.
Superbowl night date, so the restaurant was relatively empty. Very nice environment and noise level is good for conversation. The octopus appetizer was relatively tasteless and a waste but the sushi roll was excellent. The black cod, one of Anzu's signature dish, was excellent, while the on-bone pork entree was too fatty for me and frankly, a much smaller portion than other 4-5 star restaurants would offer (about 1/2 the usual thickness of a good chop). While service was attentive, they always seemed to interrupt us during our most intense conversations! The food came too quickly for a seasoned restaurant experience. Not that we felt rushed, but we felt interrupted. So, ultimately we skipped dessert and will not repeat.
Excellent, creative food and wonderful service. Better than the Michelin-starred restaurant ate at the following night.
Nice. Quiet. Good food. Far too expensive for what it does.
We went for Restaurant Week lunch but Anzu only offered 1 selection so we ordered from the menu.
For the group of Japanese Americans, the fresh bread and butter offered seemed like a strange complement, but it did match with the crispy salmon dish one person ordered and loved. Initially, he questioned the corn with cheese raclette side, but he said it was not heavy handed. His wife ordered the poke bento lunch; she was impressed with the variety of pickles and the quality of the food. The only item she quibbled with was the mochi dessert which to her had a stale flavor; we mentioned it to the server who only said she'd bring it to the kitchen's attention. My garlic noodles with shrimp was outstanding - ample portion, flavorful, pleasing to the eye and the mouth, etc. We liked the ambience of Anzu, and will return. Our waiter was kind enough to mention the 2 hour complimentary parking feature of the restaurant.
The service is on point Acne (Ahcene) is very friendly and knowledgeable.i was so hungry didn’t take pic’s the rock is something they are famous for - super hot rock that you grill thinly s loved wagyu beef strip ok as an appetizer
Great meal! So quiet for brunch on Sunday, it was very relaxing.
The location is superb.Venue is excellent! Love to dine there for lunch or dinner. Service is excellent also.
Happened to be "restaurant week" we had their special and was value. Normally the bill is on high sider but not this week. Very impressed and happy with over all.
Portions are getting smaller and smaller at this restaurant. My husband had to eat 3 slices of bread to fill up. Not enough food for the money.
Service was attentive, superb.
The food was good but not great and actually not worth the price.
This is a restaurant for older adults, date nights. It’s not the best restaurant for a family although they were very gracious and did their best to accommodate us.
Wonderful creative food in a perfect setting. I went back the next day for lunch!
Food was below average.
The food and service were excellent. The only down was the close proximity of other diners. This made dinner conversation more difficult. But food and service made the total experience memorable. When we are back in SFO we will definitely go back.
Brunch. Not just unremarkable, but a bummer.
Our waiter Ahcene was OUTSTANDING, I have never had so much fun at a restaurant with the server rather than my companions. I would go to any restaurant to be waited on by someone who was so much fun. I laughed so hard, and it was EXACTLY what I needed. He also spoke fluent French and was quite entertaining.
Anzu was a great location for our business lunch during JPM. Noise level was moderate, service was good. Location great.
Great Japanese breakfast buffet
For lunch bento is a very Good choice. Tasty tuna sashimi. Good privé Good wines
Horrible service and too many children under 5 for a nice sit down restaurant.
