We haven't been here in a while but decided to go and try the $20.17 lunch special. The food was mediocre at best. The service was impeccable. I think Antoine's is riding on days of yesteryear and its name. I really have no inclination to return here unless it's just drinks
It was very much appreciated that we were able to make reservations easily, although about an hour after we got there, the dining room that we were in filled up, so I definitely would encourage anyone planning to go for dinner to be sure to have a table reserved! We appreciated the complimentary soups that were brought to the table. The dessert was absolutely divine, particularly the special bread pudding which was served warm and just right for a cold night. We appreciated the small tour of a few of the rooms after our meal. We would recommend Antoine's as location to dine in celebration of a very special occasion. It is not for casual local dining as it is extremely pricey.
An icon and still deservedly so. Wonderful service--some waiters are 3rd or 4th generation. As in most places, some menu items are much better than others--I prefer the appetizers to the main courses and sometimes just do three of those. Love the crab ravigote, Oysters Rockefeller, Oysters Foch, Gumbo. I have gone here for years and really miss some of the signature dishes that disappeared after Katrina and are still not back: Pompano en Papillote, Crepes Suzette, Boeuf Robespierre, Crabmeat Garibaldi. Lots of wonderful private rooms of all different sizes. Love it!!!
We were very disappointed in our experience with this New Orleans icon. Our service was good but the quality of the food very disappointing.
We ordered an appetizer , soup and an entree to share. The appetizer - stuffed mushrooms came with 3. We left one not eaten, which for us, is a huge thing unto itself. They came out cold and the crabmeat filling was dense with breading and had little crab taste. Our soup was crawfish bisque. It was warm (not hot), but it was so subtle that you couldn’t even taste ANY seafood. Our entree was fried oysters on rice with “fried asparagus “. Our plate had 2 asparagus Spears on it, both barely warm. The oysters were okay, but nothing I would recommend or return to try.
First time visitors to Antoine’s, everything was exceptional . From the moment we walked in until we left we were treated like royalty . Our waiter Brian among others was attentive to our every need . This exceptional restaurant goes above and beyond in addition to the wonderful food. Our seafood was cooked to perfection. Antoine’s was wonderful! We went for lunch, which was a great idea because They have a $20 lunch special. $20 for a three course meal is amazing. The food was really good. I had turtle and alligator soup. It sounds frightening but it was amazing.
At first the service started off a little sketchy, because there was a question of what table we were supposed to be sitting out. So they sat us down and I think there was no waiter that Cleaned our table. They felt so bad I think we had three waiters from that point forward.
I Can’t wait for my next trip to New Orleans so I can eat at Antoine’s again!!
Our dinners were were very good. An old New Orleans restaurant that has preserved its heritage and some of its original and famous recipes. It was fun to eat there. However our service was very poor. Our waiter and his helper would take an order and then not return for 15 or 20 minutes. It took t least 15 minutes to have our dirty dishes cleared after we finished eating. We ordered coffee at that time and wanted another 20 minutes for it to arrive — slightly warm but not hot. No one asked if we wanted a coffee refill and there was no one in sight to ask for a refill.
We were served by Sterling Amour. He gave us an individual tour of the entire restaurant and made us feel so special! This was our first time, but it won’t be our last. We fell in love with the rich history of Antoine’s, as well as, the seasonal special that was absolutely unreal! Oysters Rockefeller: 10! 10! 10!
Beadroux and Kent did an amazing job. We had # 4,078,292 of Oysters Rockefeller. We had lovely Sazerac cocktails and the best crawfish bisque I’ve ever eaten! Pricing was reasonable but be aware that entrees are a la carte. Overall a great experience and they must be doing something right after 177 years.
Antoine's is the classic French-Creole restaurant and the building and dining rooms are elegant a pleasure to visit. The menu is dated with the classic French dishes feeling a bit too heavy without the elegance of the tradition or the spirit of Creole side. Nevertheless, the sauces are superb.
Great service, great ambiance, great history. The staff exude pride in the wonderful decorum and history of this beautiful setting are more than willing to share stories.
They encourage you to walk around after your meal which I’d highly recommend.
That being said, the food is average at best and honestly disappointing given the setting and price.
The oysters Bienville was the best of a trio of oyster dishes we had but not something that can’t be passed up.
The gumbo was good but no where near what is expected at an icon. Same for the onion soup.
The creamed spinach was point blank bad.
The entrees were pedestrian and disappointing. Good but only good.
Still, this was a fun and exciting place to go once.
