We had an absolutely spectacular meal here. The food was delicious, we opted for the tasting menu and rum pairing which was delightful (such a great idea to pair the food with different rums!) The service was attentive and the menu was explained to us clearly. I thought the price was very reasonable for a central London tasting menu. We will definitely be back!
It was fabulous. Second visit within a few weeks.
Why won't the OpenTable system allow me to make a booking on 20th Jan 2022.
Very interesting and tasty combination of some classic but also new dishes. We had a couple of starters to share and each a main course which served us very well.
Food plates were a little small, but overall flavour and presentation was good. I enjoyed the Mango salad. Didn’t feel particularly Caribbean in atmosphere and the food was slightly pricey for the quantities . Staff were friendly with good service overall
Great pre-theatre menu
We had hot fish starters which were excellent, very tasty and we loved them. Fish was fresh and beautifully cooked.
Oxtail main was also very good with a good sauce served separately and yummy mash
Will definitely eat there again
Loved the interesting flavours of this pan Caribbean menu! Services was super friendly and quick (pre-theatre menu) and really good value for money! Would come back 💫
The small plates and ceviche were outstanding. The blanchisseuse punch was delicious. The staff is very nice.
Great mix of flavours and well presented. I enjoyed trialling a variety dishes. The cocktails are great too. I'll be there again to try the lunch menu.
Disappointing. The mains were decent but the accompanying sides on the each plate were poor. You can’t advertise sides of black beans if it’s only a light sprinkling of them! And the rice had solid lumps of uncooked coconut cream.
We ordered 3 mains for 2 people - would have been hungry without this. (It was recommended we order 2 large plates (mains) and 3 small plates.)
Delicious food and great service. Should be busier!! Book now before it is!
Food was delicious
Starters could have been bigger but then compensated for it with a huge slice of carrot cake!
Loved the food, staff really helpful and friendly. My only negative comment is that I nearly didn’t go in as the front of restaurant is the bar area which was empty - glad I ventured in as lovely restaurant at the back.
Nice food however the DJ music on Saturday night was too loud
We very much enjoyed our meal last night, which seemed very good value at 25% off! Drinks were great, good espresso martini, interesting twist on a Manhatten and loved the Big Bird.
The food was interesting and tasty, the octopus was crispy (and disappeared before I git a second mouthful, delicious mackerel cooked like a rollmop, great prawns too. The flying fish (which was actually barracuda that night) was wonderful, erved with cou-cou (polenta-like) and very good plantain. I did have a little taste of the very boozy Guinness ice cream with rum too - wow! I would definitely go back, and even the less adventurous members of our party were pleasantly surprised by the food
Lastly a word for our lovely waitress, I didn't get her name, but she was so friendly, enthusiastic and obliging in getting the initially very loud music turned down, that she really made our evening
Beautiful food, a low-key buzz and attentive, friendly service all contribute to an experience that is relaxed and informal but feels no less special for it. The presence of a DJ might not be for everyone but it was appropriate and unobtrusive. Superb food and an incredible selection of rums. Would go again for sure.
Fantastic. I would give 10 stars if I could. We did the Saturday Carnival Branch and everything was perfect. We originally booked as we were going to see the Bob Marley Get up, Stand Up Musical and wanted to make it a full on Carribean day with food and sounds, and Antillean did not disappoint. The food concept of everyone tries everything was great as we did not want to choose, and the food is spectacular in both presentation and knock out flavours. The ceviche fish and scallop, the octupus, flying fish, chicken, watermelon salad and all the deserts off the scale wonderful. The drinks did not disappoint, for an all inclusive experience, there was no cost cutting, the champagne, the wines, the beers, cocktails and mocktails were all top quality brands and ingredients, and there were no hidden extra costs. The service was super friendly and professional. Lovely venue and last but be no means least the DJ was SYCK. Tunes were great and very varied, lots of classics from reggae, soul, R&B and rap. Location is just outside Southwark Station so no walking necessary and 20 mins to theatre land. The only disappointment is that this restaurant is not well known enough, more people need to share this experience. Get advertising, e.g. get an advert with Nimax Theatres. Bigger boards outside. London needs food and experiences like this and the timing is perfect with high end carribean food. Would be comfortable to recommend, or better take anyone to this restaurant, and know they would equally love it. Thank you and we will be back.
Sensational food, all served as sharers. Not usually a fan but really worked very well due wholly to the discreet attentive and informative service and light and airy surrounds.
Caribbean influenced tapas, well worth a visit. All dishes - veggie, fish, and meat - are prepared to astonishingly high levels for the price. Each one as tasty and addictive as the next. Blue swimmer crab, both ceviches, lamb, calabaza and yam tart, grilled aubergine are all of a heavenly place. Octopus and artichoke are both bites before one dies.
Baltic was great on its best days. Owned and ran by the same management in the same venue, Antillean does not disappoint.
The menu is very good, excellent starters and mains, the pudding section is really disappointing
This new restaurant has been filling the shoes of the previous company which was operating there. The concept is quite appealing and I will keep following them as an interesting restaurant in the neighbourhood.
Great food. Fantastic choice of cocktails and ultimately Great service couldn't fault it. 5 *
Positive first: the space is nice and the service is excellent.
Individually, each plate of food is fine. Since the restaurant suggests we share 4 starters and 2 large plates (for 2 people), we expect the dishes will go well with each other. However, some dishes are very acidic and they crush with creamy turmeric sauces of other dishes. Some dishes are a bit bland (the ceviche for example) and others (watermelon salad) overly seasoned. There is also no non-favored bread or chips to order to clean our mouth between dishes. (We end up order plantain crisps from the bar, and drink a lot of water) I think the place can be good if the menu is better curated and the favour more balanced.
Food and service was excellent. Our party had the signature menu which had everything. Would visit agai
Friendly welcome from staff. Interesting menu with decent vegan options. Very happy with service and ambience. Very nice evening and will return when I can.
I enjoyed the Antillean it’s airy and bright as a space and I’d look into hiring the venue in future. Food was generally good but some things weren’t cooked the way I’d expect. We abs a lovely afternoon there, the staff were lovely and the atmosphere too. Would go back.
Went to Antillean to celebrate my partner's birthday and had the signature menu. What a treat! Started off with a glass of champagne and their Old Fashioned was simply amazing with a slice of dessicated pineapple which infused the cocktail with Caribbean flavour. The food was Caribbean based and the piece de la resistance was the grilled octopus which was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The flying fish was equally delicious with deep fried fins which was reminiscent of deep fried fish skin in Cantonese. There were many courses and there were all delicious. Service was very attentive and person. Our waitress was fantastic from start to finish. A real find for food with a Caribbean vibe. Well done
Please visit this love restaurant
The food was outstanding. I had the chicken and prawns to start, and the braised oxtail for a main. All very tasty with some spice, but not to much. Its expensive, but you get what you pay for. I'm already looking forward to my next visit.
From the moment we walked in we received a warm welcome (from Alfred and the bar staff) and that continued during service from Laurence.
We had the Signature menu and had to change something which wasn’t an issue. Each dish was delicious and it was hard to pick a favourite
Antillean is in a good location right next to Southward station. Staff are friendly, courteous and attentive.
Antillean recently opened in July 2021 after a takeover of what used to be the Baltic restaurant.
So the food........The taste and flavours are phenomenal I would score 10/10, but sadly the portions I feel let the place down, hence the low score of 2/10.
Tasty unusual food and lovely staff, would highly recommend
Wanted somewhere different and special for my sons 30th celebrations. Antillean ticked every box . Fab food great service and a buzzy vibe. A perfect evening
Absolutely delicious food and excellent service. Highly recommended.!
Surprisingly good food and excellent service - will return.
Very nice restaurant and venue. Attentive and knowledgeable staff. Lovely ambience and atmosphere. Food was lovely! Will certainly be coming back.
I highly recommend this restaurant for the perfect dinner, cocktails and service! All the starters are also fantastic. Easy location as well being near the Southwark tube station and Waterloo train station. I have had two best evenings there in the past month! Treat yourself and friends as well worth the night out!
A beautiful setting and wonderful service - loved the pan-Caribbean cuisine and the recommendations were excellent. We loved everything we tasted and due to the sharing menu set up we tasted a lot. Delicious - will definitely be back.
The quality of the food was exceptional and it had great flavours, but what was a big let down for us was the portion size. We left hungry and having to go get food elsewhere as well. We understand this happens at a lot of restaurants as they aim to deliver amazing flavours over portion size, but our main feedback is that the portion size could be a little more, especially for the prices charged.
Fabulous service and the taster menu is such great value . Showcasing all the amazing options on the menu . A true find
Very fresh and tasty food. Spacious room and tables and friendly staff.
