About Antica Pesa
Originating in Rome in 1922, this family run business came state-side to open a New York location in 2012. Both establishments follow two fundamental guidelines: to rework traditional recipes from Roman cuisine and to utilize local, seasonal and mostly organic products, with a nod to modern trends. In 2015, the family opened a third Antica Pesa in Doha, Qatar as they continue in their international pursuit to share their cuisine and ideology.

Antica Pesa Ratings and Reviews
I took my husband out for his birthday here.
The quality of the food was exceptional and everything tasted good albeit the food and wine portions were smaller than what we were expecting, especially for the price. But the restaurant itself is beautiful and warming.
The octopus appetizer was cooked perfectly tender, as was the butternut squash ravioli (though we wished there was more filling; the pasta to filling ratio was way off). My husband ordered the duck and I ordered the sole. I'd recommend the duck without hesitation.
I was not a huge fan of the chocolate panna cotta but the tiramisu was divine and actually a very generous portion. I'd come back for a special occasion for sure.
My biggest gripe is that when I first made the reservation, I put in a special request to include a birthday candle in his dessert, which they did not do despite the fact we were one of two tables in the entire restaurant, but c'est la vie.
I had an AMAZING time here! The customer service was superb (very attentive) and the hostess made it comfortable from the door. The food was great (if you aren’t for small portions, this isn’t for you). Not as costly as I thought(but you still will need a lil change in your pockets here ) .... Had a great first date here and was able to have drinks by the fireplace and talk. Very romantic ambience and the drinks were also good! Would definitely recommend folks to try atleast once! Great job Antica!
I returned to this restaurant on a Monday night after an amazing experience on a Saturday night about 8 months ago. This was a cruel disappoitnment. The food was not tasty at all, small, pricey portions and very rude service. I'm not coming back there any time soon
What can we say! We have been in search of a restaurant that delivers incredible Italian Food and Service for sooooo long! Quite honestly, if you have not been to this restaurant it is a "must go to" as soon as possible. The food quality and taste is amazing. It is clear that the chef's responsible for delivering your dinner are committed to excellence. There is a very large variety of food available, pasta, fish, meat, with something for everyone. And service..........we've been lucky to have eaten in some of the "hottest" restaurants over the years and the service we received at this restaurant tops all others. Lorenzo and his brother and the entire team are committed to taking care of your every need! We absolutely love Lorenzo and his attention to detail and recommendations of what to eat from the menu! We will be and suggest you do the same! We are recommending this place to everyone we know if they want a special night out.....even if it's not a special night out....I guarantee it will be one you will never forget! Ed Salina
Family dinner. We ordered two of the crudo e buffala croccante ($20 each) and one polipo grigliatio ($18) for appetizers.
For entrees we ordered one spaghetti cacio e pepe ($20), one schiaffoni all’ amatriciana ($20), one lasagna alla bolognese ($24). We were between another course, they recommended the steak for two at $110 - I declined. We ended up getting one additional pasta based on their recommendation, the spaghetti alla chitarra vongole for $32.
When the food came, they said that they told the kitchen to split cacio e pepe and amatriciana. I thought the cacio e pepe portion on the split plate was large for one order.
It was an more than enough food. We barely got through the additional two entrees. When I asked for the check, I found the appetizers as they were, the lasagna alla bolognese and spaghetti alla chitarra vongole were billed correctly. I was shocked to find 4 orders of “bittico” at $22 each. I expected a bill of approximately $168 with tax at 8.875%. I instead got one for $219 roughly. An additional $52 than what I expected or almost 30%.
I ordered four pastas, I expected four pastas. Not two and four “combo” pastas charged at $22 each as opposed to what was represented to me. The kitchen “split” two pastas that were $20 each.
I didn’t ask for an explanation, I knew what it was and how they did it. I would have appreciated it if they offered to do 4 “bittico” or if I preferred the two individual pasta dishes. I paid the bill and gave 15% on the subtotal of $202; the lowest tip I have given in years. I paid for the meal because we ate it. I felt the way they structured it was very disingenuous. No matter how many meals I’ve enjoyed here, this will be the last time I give Antica Pesa my business or refer anyone to dine there. I’d have eaten here for a long time but not after being cheated like this. Such a shame.
Ridiculously small portions of $32 fish dishes (sole and branzino). Had to order more food at end (had ordered numerous appetizers, as well).
A private rowdy/drunken party w/ dj was in other half of restaurant. They should've closed it for the party. They compromised all the other dinners enjoyment of their meal. The owners let children run the room...will never return.
Overall this was a great experience but I was disappointed by the service. We arrived 15 mins early and when we asked about our table we were told “what time was your reservation? your table will be ready at that time and not a moment sooner” which was pretty rude. Then, the table we were placed at was right by a station the servers constantly needed to access so I was hit in the head by passing servers with trays all night. We didn’t receive menus for at least 20 minutes after we were seated and no one noticed until I got someone’s attention. Overall the food was great but the service was pretty sad.
Fantastic evening, visited the family restaurant in Rome and couldn't wait to try the same family restaurant in Brooklyn. It was beyond expectations. We were treated like the family we thought we were.
The whole evening was perfection. Can't wait to return.
we didn't have a defined waiter which led to poor service.
Server spilled an entire glass of wine on my brother. He doesn't drink. The restaurant did nothing to make up for the gaffe.
Food was fine, but the service was so discombobulated that we ultimately just wanted to pay and leave.
Antica Pesa is nestled in a beautiful Williamsburg neighborhood. With it's vintage meets retro ambiance and matching beautiful aesthetic it brings you a perfect balance of Rome and Brooklyn. The cuisine consists of authentic Roman Antipasti, first/second plates and dessert. The wine list offers an eclectic mix between Northern and Southern Italian grapes and excellent cocktails that are made to perfection by the bar mixologist. Upon arriving, the dining room was certainly busy but the staff was attentive to us and to the rest of their guests as well. Our waiter was quick and knew every last bit of all menus to a T. Antica Pesa has an open kitchen in the back of the restaurant. The food that comes from this kitchen is of the most authentic I've tasted in the States. I had the Pasta Cacio e Pepe (simply pepper and Roman cheeses) and I have never had a plate of pasta this delicious in the U.S. (besides my mothers, of course!) My friend had the Ravioli Alla Zucca, which is Ravioli with Butternut squash filling and a light sage cream sauce, divine. All in all I would recommend this gorgeous gem to anyone looking for Italian Roman cuisine when in Brooklyn or NYC in general.
Disappointing. Arrived 8:20 for an 8:30 reservation for 6.
We stood in the packed bar area waiting for our table for over an hour (hostess reported that the table was "almost ready" about 5 times over the course of the hour + we were waiting). Finally seated and then no attention from the wait staff for at least 30 minutes (literally none- crazy). . Food finally started to arrive around 10:30-10:40.
Seems like they way overbook and then can't keep up with the volume. Ended up being a frustrating event.
Food was OK- but fairly standard for NY Italian. Not worth the challenges.
The hostess were very nice but our waiter was terrible. For the amount of money you pay there should be better service. He forgot a few of our desserts and then forgot to put a candle on one of them. Felt like he was rushing us out. The food is good but not worth the $$$. Don't think I'll be coming back here.
