When is a reservation not a reservation? At this Mistake On The Lake! After I made a reservation early in the week, they texted and emailed and to confirm my reservation. Early Saturday afternoon, they called to confirm- everything was set. About an hour prior to my 8:00pm reservation, they called and left a message that they "suspended" my reservation because of a wedding! What, this wedding party just happened to pop in Saturday afternoon without notice??? Highly unlikely, so I called asked why they took a reservation AND CONFIRMED IT if they knew a wedding would cause a complication. They couldn't answer that, but I was told by the hostess that Anthony said that they might be able to accommodate us later (2 of us). I inquired as to why I should trust them to come because their management showed that they may sit us later or maybe even not at all! They couldn't answer that either. Everyone knows how difficult it is to get an 8:00pm dinner reservation on Long Island, so I was left to scramble. Do yourself a favor, skip this place, and go to a restaurant that actually understands the meaning of 'reservations'! BEWARE!!!
Went with friends and my girl, service was truly awful. Had I known it’s a venue I probably wouldn’t have bothered making reservations. We ordered appetizers and honestly took forever, we ended up just leaving. Thankfully the manager was able to understand what we experienced and waived our tab completely.
It was a little weird at 1st because nobody greeted us, but the overall experience was nice. The food was very good, I would definitely go back
We walked into the restaurant we were treated like children , we sat down and looked at the menu looked at the situation we put ourselves in by coming to this restaurant and instantly thought back on our decision. He stayed for about 10 minutes trying to see if we can deal with the noise level and with the crowd but absolutely not it was unbearable. There was live music so loud you could not hear yourself think, it was an older crowd and being that we were only 21 years old we decided it was not for us not our crowd and not our restaurant. As leaving we told the man it was not for us and to have a good day. I received attitude and a look on my way out. We left and then went to another restaurant in Smithtown and had one of the best dinners I’ve had in a long time :). Anthonys on the lake what a great location and property, what terrible service
The service was awful. Two waitresses for the entire restaurant. The hostess who checked us in was extremely rude. So rude from start to finish. Other diners were also complaining about her horrible, awful attitude. Wonderful waitress but she was waiting on too many tables . The band saved the night.
This is actually the Windows on the lake catering hall. And unfortunately, the food was exactly that, catering hall food… It was OK, nothing special especially not for the price fix price tag… We were not informed of this until we arrived at the establishment and seated, not during the reservation process, not in the advertising for the event. I suppose it wouldn’t been bad as a $100 night total but at the 175 including tip for two people I certainly would’ve chosen to go elsewhere. The waiters in the management did not seem to be on the same page service was very slow as well.
Went there on a Wed. night. The service was slow. Waited 20 minutes for drinks. The place had 1 table when we arrived and another 2 tables while we were waiting. The music was so loud we had to leave. Went up to the bar to pay the check. When the waiter ask for the tip amount I said I'll pay that in cash, which I did. I was in a rush to leave and when I got home I notice on the receipt that there is a line for Gratuity also a line for a tip? Never saw this in my life. They added 20% tip on the bill. So on $129.80 bill the tip was $75.96!! I'll be calling American Express.
This was our second time dining at Anthony's On The Lake. We enjoy listening to their live music while we eat. Long Island does not have many places with live music anymore. So we are thrilled to find a restaurant with good food and entertainment and the view of the lake is beautiful. It was a little chilly but we walked out to the water where they had a few chairs that we were able to use and sit and watch the sunset. We will definitely be back for more music and more of their calamari and their spareribs. Not one to get spareribs out but these were delish!
The food and the live music were absolutely amazing. Every time Mikey came by our table he stopped to see how everything was going and was right on top of anything we needed. Can’t wait to go back and try something different on the menu. I recommend checking this place out if you haven’t already.
The food was great. Welcomed by a live 5 piece band that had good talent and a wide variety of music. The owner were right there to greet you and visit you to assure we were having a incredible experience. Thanks Ellen and Anthony.
The menu was prefixed which we didn’t know going in... not a deal breaker. Drinks are pricey but very good. Food was great and you get a lot for the money. Service was excellent. Band was awesome but a little loud if your having dinner conversations lol
COVID safety was on point too... Plenty of spacing etc.
Will definitely be back!👍🏻👍🏻
First of all I want to say our waiter and the maître d’ we’re excellent. There was a large table near us and we asked to move they were happy to do that. The food and drinks were OK. A little overpriced for what we got. Some people were not social distancing didn’t like that
The atmosphere was so warm and romantic for our midweek date night! Food quality (steak and lamb shank) was, no exaggeration, phenomenal! Portion size was surprising, rib eye was huge! For the cost and value it was an incredible night out. Our server was kind and conscientious of our needs, even taking time to act as photographer of our mini-photo shoot. We will certainly be back again.
We were disappointed overall when we went to Anthony's last weekend.
First, although it was not stated online, we arrived and were told we had to order from the price fixe menu. The choices were very limited compared to their online menu.
Second, we waited an hour for our appetizers, (two or us ordered soup, one a salad, one calamari, one meatball, and one shrimp). When they came out, the calamari did not arrive at the same time.
After another HOUR, the waiter came by to ask how we liked our dinner. WHICH WE HAD NOT RECEIVED YET. When we mentioned that it was taking a very long time, he said it would be out in 2 minutes. We waited another 20 minutes before we saw any food.
I enjoyed my entree (scallops with risotto) but 2 of the others at my table did not. We had one vegetarian at the table, who found a mussel shell in the sauce of her pasta primavera, that was labelled vegetarian.
We had been out to celebrate 2 birthdays, but by the end of the night the celebration had dimmed.
The management did give us a 20% discount for the trouble, but we will not be going back.
It seems like if they were not prepared to handle the amount of people who were there, they should have not taken our reservation.
I feel like they were in over their heads.
A great date night spot. Definitely going back ASAP!! Food and service were spot on!! Justin the new addition to this establishment makes the best cocktails we ever had and is a very talented mixologist coming from England! Prices we very fair as we both had appetizers, seafood entrées and cocktails and walked out with a bill under $100. Valerie Rose the entertainment for the evening was very talented, took requests and was fun. We recommend you go as we will return soon.
I live locally to this gorgeous spot my boyfriend and I only learned about Windows on the Lake taking dinner reservations through the Open Table app. We decided to treat ourselves to a new experience at a different restaurant. We arrived at Anthony’s on the lake and we’re pleasantly surprised by the views, it was so beautiful lined with the snow. The food was great!!! We enjoyed the baked clams for a starter and shared both our main dishes. I definitely recommend the steak Au Poivre and the Lamb Shank . There was just enough room to share the New York Cheesecake which was delicious . I must say everything was perfect, from the intimate ambiance, to the attentive staff and even my Love martini was made just right. My boyfriend and I will definitely come again very soon .
Thank you Open Table for listing this local Gem
Beautiful atmosphere! We wish Anthony much success. We hope to return soon and dine with the live entertainment.
Great service, ambience was beautiful!! Service was great!! The only thing if I have to complain it would be the parking lot. Due to the weather many spots were filled with snow so I took awhile to find a spot
I took my wife here for a Valentine's Day dinner. It was $55 per person with live entertainment. We arrived on time and we're seated. It took roughly about 20 minutes before someone came to even get a drink order. At that time another couple got seated next to us. And before our waiter even talked our appetizer order the couple that was seated after us already had their appetizers out on the table and had placed their dinner order. We waited roughly 45 min before we put in our appetizers and the other couple was already started with dinner. When (a different waiter delivered our food they got my order correct and my wife's wrong) to which the regular waiter came back over and was baffled that my wife asked for pene Ala vodka and not steak...how do you even mess that up. So then he says he will get her order rushed while mine is sitting on the table getting cold because I won't be disrespectful and eat when my wife's waiting. He then comes back with her order and offers to get us complimentary sodas on the house at a cost of $3 per drink. Multiple times I told Sal R. That this shouldn't be like this and that for the same money I could have went elsewhere hell even a diner and had a better experience than this. Definitely won't return. If your planning a special occasion you'll unfortunately be let down by this establishment.
Update for some reason either open table or the establishment isn't allowing me to upload proof of my receipt via a picture I took as I checked out. But if there is any doubt I have a photo for proof that we ate there 2/14 730pm reservations
Service was ok, servers friendly but sometimes a bit slow. Food just ok, wedding quality not good restaurant quality. Live entertainment a nice touch but not high quality.
Took my gorgeous fiancé to a valentines dinner at Anthony’s on the lake restaurant and had an amazing time. The service was great, the food was incredible and very tasty. There was great entertainment with live music and our whole experience that night was made very special and relaxing in which was a memorable night. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone and will definitely be coming back.
The service was extremely poor, if it wouldn’t been for Justin the gentleman who sat us down we would have never gotten drinks or our food. Servers kept passing our table like we weren’t even there, completely ignoring us.
The music was very loud. We were very disappointed. Would not go back.
The music was too loud the band was not a good match for a romantic Valentine’s although the food was good the service and the wait between asking for a coke and getting one was ridiculous don’t think I’ll do it again sorry
Well pleased with the place, first time going. Went for a Valentines dinner. Very organized and friendly staff. That night was 80, 90's rock, soft rock music. Live energy even though was dancing from my seat lol. Deff would recommend this place
A failure from nearly all ends...especially the service. They failed to seat us after we arrived on time for our reservation. After 30 minutes of complaining they finally sat us in one of the many available tables. The house band was extremely inappropriate for a Valentines Evening dinner. The high point was the food...excellent. Our server was inattentive and seemingly aloof. It took an act of God to receive our check which was wrong. There were others there with the same issues This is a catering establishment which attempted to try their hand as a full service restaurant...very poor experience and I will not return.
We had a wonderful time! Can’t wait to go back for Easter and Mothers Day
My wife and I had a wonderful dining experience at Anthony’s on the lake-there was a Neil diamond impersonator that sounded incredibly like him-The food was excellent and so was the service-Anthony the owner takes the time to stop at everybody’s table to introduce him self and make sure everything is going fine-We are looking forward to our next dinner at Anthony’s on the lake I would highly recommend it to anyone is the best restaurant in Ronkonkoma by far
It was a New Years Eve dinner. They posted a price fixe menu for the evening. Even after all of the confirming emails and text messages, we arrived at 8pm (our reservation time) and THEY WERE CLOSED!!! Are you kidding me??? How incredibly unprofessional. We will NEVER dine there after that experience.
We are so very sorry that you experienced this. We had to close due to an unforeseen situation and had believed we had reached out to everyone and turned off the ability to make reservations. We would very much like to make it up to you and your party. Please give us a call. We are open Wed - Sunday 4pm to 10pm with live music on Fri and Sat. Again, Our sincerest apologies.
