Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza - Newton
A group of 5 former coworkers met here at 6 pm on a Thursday night. It wasn't crowded but it was NOISY. We had to shout for others to hear us.
The pizza was delicious and beers were cold, and our waiter was fantastic. .....but the point of going out with other people is to be together. Otherwise, you can just stay home and order in. Would not return except maybe with one person, if we could sit next to each other at the bar. Sorry, Anthony's...I guess we're too old to get it....
Great dinner! Waitress a bit overwhelmed, but other than that, great dinner.
Restaurant was definitely understaffed. Wait service was very slow and much time was consumed for available servers to be moving tables around for larger parties. Pizza was undercooked which was very unusual for this restaurant “our pizza is well done”. Kitchen was slow as well. Pizza was still very tasty but could have been better if left in oven longer. Recommendation would be to avoid this place on weekends.
Pizza was good but service was poor. Not at all busy but very slow. Waitress didn’t seem to have a good grasp on food or bar items. Won’t go back.
Very, very loud inside. Younger crowd likes that energy. We elected to eat on the patio outside.
Excellent Eggplant Marino entree
Great Eggplant Marino — superb
Pizza is unduly salty, but good
Our night started out by very welcoming hostesses. We had an amazing waiter, Andrew I believe his name was. He recommended some terrific food like the fra diavlo pizza, tomato and mozzarella salad, and the eggplant. He brought us complimentary wings that were amazing as well. We met with the manager Keri. Overall a GREAT place with terrific food and employees.
It is very hard to hear in this restaurant. Even though the place was not crowded, we had difficulty hearing each other. It is very open space, high ceilings with pipes on the ceilings with no insulation for sound. It made what would have been a pleasant evening problematic. There was a party far from us and we could hear every word in full volume. The server, service and food were great.
The food was excellent and the service was good. The prices are not amazing, but I would definitely go back. It was very good pizza with fresh ingredients.
In spite of our reservation, had a bit of a wait (15-20 min), though not as long as those without reservations. And while we were waiting, staff came around with sample size pieces of pizza to snack on, so all good. Enjoyed our meal and wait staff was very friendly, recommended beer options, etc.
I made a reservation on open table, when we arrived we were told it is only call ahead seating. It says nothing to that effect on open table, so of course we had to wait. We sat outside as requested, but the waiter barely came outside. Service was very slow. Food was delicious though.
Ridiculously slow, from service to kitchen. Food came out at different times. Server appeared to be way to busy for the amount of customers. Very, very disappointing meal. Won’t go back.
