Anthony's at the Old Mill District - Bend
Beautiful August evening on the outside patio along Deschutes river. Marvelous salmon dinner. Service was perfect.
I ordered trout and knew it would be breaded but they fried it too long and it was all hard and mostly untasty
Sunset specials available til 6 pm are a great value, the seafood is always fresh and full of flavor
Great service and great dinner! Even helped us celebrate a birthday with a candle in our dessert. Will be back for sure.
Unfortunately, the the fish was over cooked. In addition, the crab chowder was watery. The food prep continues an ongoing downward slide. I really wish they would focus on the food instead of quickly serving and flipping tables full of tourists.
We took our daughter here while she was visiting from Portland. Beautiful location on the river. Our server was very knowledgeable and helpful. We enjoyed our visit and will definitely return.
We ordered fish that was over salted, cooked and just plain bad. For $26/plate I expect better quality. Pass on this one....
Had been looking forward to eating here for several months. We chose to eat here for our anniversary and was a bit disappointed. The food was mediocre, service was okay, and the view was great.
If you can find a place to park, Anthony's is well worth the visit. Food and service are generally excellent. Indoor decor and pleasant patio seating makes dining either indoors or outdoors a good choice.
Food was excellent, like we were on the Oregon coast, but with much better weather. I'd eat here again.
Ari our server was great.
Lots of items on menu was not available and hostess wasn’t accommodating given reservation was made day in advance.
Very Loud in middle of open seating.
When making reservations was asked about special occasion told them our anniversary. Why ask if nothing is said or done.
Beautiful evening, sat outside and wished the bushes had been trimmed a bit lower to get a good river view. Food and service good as usual so all was god.
Great service by Ari! Disappointed in that we made a reservation through Open Table for outside seating. Upon arrival, the hostess informed us that Anthony’s policy on outdoor seating is first come first served and we could expect a 45 minute wait. Open Table should align itself with the restaurant and only offer reservations for inside seating. We took an inside table and were seated immediately. Food was very good and the service was outstanding. Great location on the Deschutes River in the Old Mill District of Bend.
We took advantage of the sunset dinner special and had the perfect table. With a bottle of wine, this was a very nice early dinner.
We sat next to the kitchen and enjoyed watching! Makenna was our server and she was very pleasant and efficient. We really enjoyed our meal, the restaurant in general and service was great.
Sunset dinners offered are very reasonably priced and a great value. Recommend the ahi appetizer, clam chowder, shrimp or pretty much any seafood on the menu.
Burnt custard (creme brûlée) is good. Don’t let the name fool you.
Great food and a nice view
Took over an hour to get our food and the steak showed up rare even after all that time
Enjoyed eating outside
Our server first appeared 10 minutes after we were seated. Her greeting wasn't "hello" but rather "so what are we thinking?" Bend is casual but... We asked if there were specials and her response was "that menu is printed daily so everything is special. We then noticed a shrimp "special" printed on an insert in the front of the menu.
We decided to start with the baked brie but asked for another minute to decide on dinner. After 10 minutes our server returned. We ordered the special shrimp and the fresh trout. After another 5 minutes our server informed us they didn't have the shrimp. Keep in mind this was at 7:30PM, the restaurant had been open for 3 hours, the shrimp had its own insert, yet nobody had bothered to remove it or apparently, inform our server. In a tacky move our server blamed the kitchen for poor communication and said she "just worked there." So we ordered the seared halibut pieces instead.
Now about 20 minutes have gone by and still no brie. After 35 - 40 minutes our dinners and the brie showed up simultaneously. We complained to the server who brought it out and she offered to "keep it warm under the heat lamps." We declined.
Our waitress showed up quickly this time (having heard we were unhappy how everything arrived) and again blamed the kitchen staff, plus the restaurant itself. We told our server The halibut was cold and she added, "well I don't own the restaurant or cook the food." When the halibut finally returned 15 minutes later it was massacred and we declined it. By the way, the kid who brought it out, said "here's your refire." Very professional.
My trout was ok but dry and didn't come with so much as a slice of lemon. When I asked for lemon, our server brought out, I kid you not, an old, mushy piece with a large, brown spot. Neither she nor our busser ever noticed we had no silverware or bread plates until we asked for them.
No manager ever came by our table.
Seafood fettuccine dishes were cold. Waited a long time for the calamari to be brought to the table. The calamari was the best part of the dishes ordered. Salad was brought after the meal was served, the wait person forgot that we ordered salad. The steamed clams were served in an almost gravy instead of butter, wine and garlic. Not much offered in the way of gluten free. Cheeseburger was ordered but there was not a gluten free bun or bread to go with it.
We loved our meal.
The music from the concert across the river was totally obnoxious! We had to move inside. But every time the door opened the reverberations continued.
Seafood is good but portions are small. Crime brûlée was burnt on top.
The wait staff was excellent. Our server, McKenna, was a pure delight.
Very impressed with the service, food,...location (near the river)...pretty much everything here was perfect! Highly recommended A+++
The food was mediocre. Probably the worst lobster tail I have ever eaten. Sure, it was not on the menu at the time and they had to defrost it (just like everyone else does), but this IS a seafood restaurant. No excuse for a small, tough, and tasteless tail. The steak was so-so too. Great location and view. I recommend that you stop here for a drink, then go to a good restaurant like Kayos
We came with friends for dinner this past Friday the 5th to Anthony's where they'd enjoyed the "Sunset 4 Course Dinner" several times in the past, and wanted us to try it. Unfortunately upon our arrival, we were told that because of a concert at the nearby Les Schwab stage, the "Sunset Dinner" option was not available that night. We were disappointed, but ordered other items from the menu. We had looked at their web site closely before dinner and there was not one word stating that the "Sunset Dinner" was not available on concert evenings, and I think it should be clearly stated so that people wanting that option could come another evening if desired. We felt a little deceived to not know this ahead of time. The Copper River salmon was quite good; the menu stated that it came with almond basmati rice pilaf and my husband and I were surprised to have plates delivered to us with mashed potatoes which I love, but don't order out due to the cream/milk added that I am allergic to. A young server came by and I told him that the meal was supposed to come with a special rice mix; the next thing I knew, he delivered a big bowl of plain white rice to me! Shortly after, our server came, said she'd noticed the mashed potatoes, and brought me the almond rice pilaf. I noticed, however, from then on, she did not return to the table to check on us nor did she ever refill my water glass. Warm day...water wanted. I also had to ask 3 times for a set of silverware for our 4th person. So while we enjoyed our dinners, there was a clear lack of service. I think they were working short, because we saw empty tables outside where we were eating, but a large number of people inside waiting to be seated. I would have thought more staff would have been brought on to work a Friday evening especially on a holiday weekend! I gotta say that their bread was outstanding and that we would try Anthony's again if we are in Bend in the future.
Normally Anthonys has great fish and service. This time that was not the case. They were out of all salmon and halibut, that left trout and rock fish. So no one got their first choice for dinner. Felt like tim allen in Santa Clause at Dennys , everything we picked “were out”. Then when my wife steak dinner came the server put it down in front of her, then said oh this is not your steak and took it away. It was what she ordered so not sure why they served it up and then took it away. Seating on the patio was nice but if we had been told up front about all the food they didnt have available we would have gone elsewhere and tried another night. Instead we wasted one of vacation dinners on food we made do with
My review is really mixed and think it is important to not that while we were disappointed with our meals, we were attended to by the manager who worked hard to try to rectify our issues. The salads were overdressed so if I were ever to go back I would ask for the dressing on the side. The Ciopino that two of us ordered came without the advertised fish that was described as part of the dish. The bus boy that brought the food out practically threw the bowls that one actually spilled. When the manager came over to see if we were satisfied we pointed out the fact that the Ciopino did not have fish, she reordered our food. The other entree was billed as a “favorite”, a fried oyster dish where the oysters were very greasy. Again, the manager reordered a replacement. We were given complimentary deserts to make up for the unacceptable food. I doubt that we would ever go back and would not recommend this restaurant.
Anthony's in Bend has a great location with beautiful views of the Deschutes River and evening sunsets. We dine here at least twice a month and always appreciate the delicious, fresh food, the excellent service and casual ambiance.
Been here twice and the first time was legit. Very different from this week. They sat us at a table that was kinda clean. Food chunks near the salt and pepper shakers. Good all over the floor under the table and two of the chairs had food chunks that I had to brush off. Then we sat there for about 10 mins before a waiter came and told us our waitress would be there shortly. At this point we almost just moved to the bar to eat. Took forever to get just get our drinks. Food was ok but overall it was a pretty crappy experience. I’d rather go to Red Robin than to Anthony’s again.
The fish was over cooked and the waiter was overwhelmed. It was a pretty expensive dinner for such poor quality.
Food is fair, very nice setting. Both meals and appetizer were OK, but nothing stood out.
I had an amazing first date everything was just perfect. It was busy but it didn't take away from having an amazing time and still felt like an intimate setting. Waitress was attentive and the food is always fantastic, can't wait to go back.
Worst dining experience we can recall. Sat for 15 minutes before we finally realized we’d have to flag a server down. She wasn’t thrilled with us, said we weren’t her table but she guessed we could be. It never did get any better. Long wait for drinks and over-cooked, overpriced appetizers. We won’t be back, too many other options for great service and delicious food.
Excellent food especially the seafood and selections. Our server was also excellent especially considering she also was serving a table of 17 next to us. Definitely worth it.
Food was very good. Portions were somewhat small for the price. Atmosphere was great and the restaurant design is beautiful. Staff was super friendly and professional. We received great service overall, although it took forever to get our dessert, an ice cream sundae and chocolate mousse. 🤔
