Anthony's at the Old Mill District - Bend
The food at this Anthony's location was okay but not as good at other Anthony's Restaurants we have tried -- acceptable but rather ordinary preparation and presentation. Service was spotty -- when we needed more ketchup, our waiter was nowhere to be found and my husband had to get up from the table and ask for it.
I had a bowl of the crab and corn chowder for lunch and it was really really good!
Main course linguine with lobster was overly rich tasting ( too much cream? ) with pieces of thin tough asparagus and dry ( oversteamed? ) lobster.
Great service and food
Loved the lobster specials - only available in Nov. Ari, our server, was awesome, albeit really really busy. Always love this place.
Food was good. We would like to see tempura asparagus again. Reasonable prices.
Over all was pretty good, however the Dungeness Crab Salad had only 1 piece of crab was pathetic.
My husband had the lobster fettuccini which he said was good. I asked for a steak, done medium rare. It was DRY AS A BONE.
The lobster dinner was fabulous and the rice pilaf was the best I’ve ever had. My husband had fried oysters and he got a lot of them.
Birthday celebration. Great service. Good food.
Went for a girls night- four of us in total. We started in the bar for cocktails and everything in there was amazing. Then we got seated at our table, the waitress we had was not attentive and we had to wait till our dinner was over to get a refill on our waters and obviously was not happy when we did not want dessert. Food tasted great but two of our dishes were cold (I had the crab fettuccine and the other dish was the seafood fettuccine), but we did not want to say anything because of how grouchy our waitress was. I come to eat here every time I am in town and have never had a problem until this weekend, I was embarrassed that I brought friends here.
I very much appreciate Anthony's recognizing my birthday each year. So, in addition to enjoying the best happy hour in Bend, I always celebrate my birthday at Anthony s. I'll plan on making reservations for the annual lobster dinner soon.
Although it was super busy our waiter was on it! The seafood fettuccine was a 10.
Wonderful meal, great value, super waitress, incredible view Thanks for making my wife’s birthday and our anniversary so special
Wife’s birthday. First time at Anthony’s for her
Excellent service and food in a vibrant atmosphere.
Probably would not have ordered as expensive meals but had the incentive of $20 off Halloween night !
Crab salad and clam chowder yummy as were my husbands oysters. Love the view and service was excellent!
Wonderful waitress, Ms. Soon, serving me an excellent meal and her considerable gastronomic knowledge.
Beautiful setting. Our server was wonderful. I highly recommend the Bailey’s chocolate mousse
We were there celebrating my birthday and the service was great and the restaurant accommodated beautifully. My daughters prearranged champagne to be at the table and my other daughter from Florida paid for some of my meal.
We both had sirloin steak and they were cooked to perfection and very tender.
Enjoyed the dinner immensely.
The grilled halibut is amazing! Our waitress was extremely nice and accommodating in every way.
We were seated near the kitchen and could barely carry on a conversation with each other. The service was good, but uneven. We did not like when the server leaned over the wall to serve us at times. The food was very good and we were provided with a comp appetizer and dessert - good on them for that. There was a lot of running around by the servers and in general was a bit too active for us to relax. The drinks were just acceptable.
I had trout and wife salmon; both were not great. trout only had taste of breading.
I would try other seafood.
We always enjoy our meals at Anthony's, but I would really appreciate a bigger selection of non-seafood items on the Sunset menu. They failed to acknowledge our 43rd anniversary, which was noted on our reservation. If it doesn't matter, why ask?
Sat at table, ignored, for almost 15 minutes before anyone came over to say hi. Watching other tables being helped, served their bread and drinks as we sat there looking around, making bets on which one of the servers was ours. I was literally watching my watch and had given myself 2 more minutes for a server to show up before we just got up and walked out. Our server eventually came over and apologized. He took our orders right away as we had had plenty of time to look at the menu. And because he knew we had been sitting there for so long he actually comped one of our glasses of wine which was a nice gesture. When he left the table we wondered why we hadn't gotten any bread yet as we saw other tables with bread baskets. So we had to assume it was menu item and we had missed it. When our meals arrived we asked about the bread and again received more apologies and bread was eventually brought over. No big deal, I hate complain about not getting free bread, it's the service that sucked.
My wife's entree salad was well made and very good. My Dungeness crab fettuccine however was very bland and even copious amounts of salt could not save it. I picked the crab bits out and ate some bread.
This was our first time at an Anthony's not in Washington state and it was very disappointing. They've got some work to do.
The food was excellent and our view of the Deschutes River was nice. Our server seemed very nervous. The restaurant was very loud.
All good except filet was over cooked and a different flavor than expected
Excellent food and service! Loved the open air door and atmosphere. It was quiet. We will be back for sure.
Fabulous service. Had the early bird dinner and it was great. My only critique would be that my prawns were slightly overcooked and a little tough, otherwise everything else was perfectly delicious!
Great food and service! Highly recommend having a reservation because they are busy!
Service was very slow. Food was just ok
Great food, location and wait staff.
Only issue was two hostesses that should not be in that role. They were not friendly, receptive, or polite. They told us and another couple that we would wait the 2 and 8 minutes until exactly our reservation time and then called our name and walked us to the table. No: hello, please wait at the bar, enjoy your meal, thank you for dinning with us, etc. They immediately set a bad tone upon our arrival - fortunately everything else was great and reset our enjoyment of Anthony’s. First impressions linger though.
Was lucky to man a window seat. The experience was very nice.
When we have something special going on, Anthony's is our first choice.
Food was good......my salad looked wrung out.... but it tasted good
Silver salmon out of this world!
We are typically Anthony’s fans and live their quality. I made a reservation and clearly marked “Birthday Celebration”. When we arrived we waited to be seated while watching several groups get seated without reservations in front of us. When we were eventually shown to a table for two on a bench seat between two other groups I informed the hostess I would like a different able. She was put out that I wasn’t interested in sitting between two groups and quickly asked if I had requested a specific table with my reservation instead of just giving us one of the five other tables near her that were empty and clean.
A group of three seated before us was placed along the river windows and had bread, chowder and wine all brought to them by their waitress who also sat with them at several points during the evening while she folded napkins. Interestingly enough the same group left without receiving a bill or leaving any money.
We were simply traveling through Bend and in search for a dinner restaurant close to where we were spending the night. We were surprised to learn that there was an Anthony's in Bend. Knowing the quality, we made a reservation and were very pleased that we had chosen Anthony's for our place to dine. A beautiful setting, pleasant restaurant, and excellent meal. The Crab and Corn chowder was the best soup we've had in a restaurant and only sorry we didn't have room for having more!
We were seated within 5 minutes of our arrival for our reservation at 6:30pm. We had requested seating on the patio outside. I would not recommend sitting on the patio at this time as the sun beats down on you even though there are umbrellas on the tables. I have 2 complaints about the food: The crabmeat salad only had 2 small bites of crabmeat on it - hardly worth the extra $- very disappointing. I ordered the halibut which was very good, but, the green beans were not even cooked al Dante, so, I couldn't eat them as they were too raw. The entrée plate was not visually appealing - no garnishes. They gave us bread and butter plates, but, didn't bring us any bread and butter, so, we had to ask for it. I would recommend the Pine Tavern in downtown Bend over this restaurant.
I would recommend Anthony’s because we usually have a fabulous dinner and great service. This visit the halibut was over cooked and rice under cooked. Service was poor as it seemed we were forgotten. However we will return in hopes we get the great food and service again
