Anthem Ratings and Reviews
We have been to Anthem many times over the years and know exactly what we are getting. Solid comfort food, friendly service and vibrant atmosphere. This visit was no exception with a couple of small changes. We were seated upstairs in the area that's open to downstairs. Made it very difficult for conversation. I much prefer the closed in dining area. The positive surprise was the cocktail menu. We had a drunken fig which was just outstanding!! All in all still a good spot that I would recommend.
The hostess was rude, unfriendly and seemed annoyed when we told her we had reservations but were early. The restaurant was less than half full and it was only 4:30 on a Saturday so not sure what issue was but a terrible first impression. The food was alright not special and appetizers were loaded with salt making it difficult to eat. It was very noisy and dark. Wouldn’t recommend unfortunately.
This review is for myself and my husband only. We brought our 16 year old daughter here the same night with six of her friends for birthday dinner. They had great service and enjoyed their meals very much. My husband and I sat downstairs near the bar and I ordered the winter pear salad while my husband got the baked haddock. His meal was fine, the fish was very fresh with roasted potatoes and broccoli. A very simple dish, almost plain presentation, but very tasty just the same. My salad was a radicchio based one with walnuts, pear and goat cheese. Unfortunately it lacked a good combination of flavors - overly bitter with too much radicchio and nothing to balance the flavor, and it tasted as though it had no dressing. I mentioned this to the waitress and she spoke with the manager. They were kind enough to remove it from our bill. I was impressed by this and appreciate the gesture . It shows they care about quality. Overall it's a great spot with a nice selection of food and you can't beat the location.
A can't beat location with a mix of tourist and locals as patrons. Go in the warmer months because the main bar can be quite cold due to its open glass roof. Maybe it was the particular evening but everyone was wearing a jacket. Food is above average but you are paying for the Faneiul Hall real estate.
This review is about brunch. Menu had usual brunch fare, from eggs to pancakes/french toast, not extensive but something for everyone. Interesting that some of the food came with "Portuguese muffins" which are a sweeter version of and English muffin. Food was decent. Service was very friendly. My party cleaned their plates.
We’re from CA and make an annual trek to Boston every year. My first dinner stop is always Anthem. Great food, delicious crafted drinks, excellent service. I haven’t had anything bad here and I love it more every time I go. The enclosed patio bar is wonderful when it’s cold, or the open air patio provides great people watching when it’s warm like it was this week. Have the fondue, crab cakes, pretzels to start and don’t forget the lobster Mac and cheese!!
My husband and I went to Anthem to celebrate our first anniversary and to relive our first date, dinner at Anthem. My husband told the hostess the reason why we were there as we wanted to possibly sit at the same table. They were able to accommodate us with our table, and then gave us complimentary glasses of prosecco and wrote Happy Anniversary on our receipt. We felt so special and were blown away by their hospitality. We started with the homemade chips and onion dip, which is always yummy. My husband has the prosciutto and fig flatbread and I had the wicked spicy burger. Everything was absolutely delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will be returning for many many more years to come to celebrate the big moments in our life.
We gave the food a D+! The soft pretzel app was clearly frozen as one side of each pretzel was cold. The steak did not have the sauce described on the menu and came with plain French fries, also different from what was described in the menu. The prices for the quality of the food were ridiculous. I don't know how this place stays alive in Fanueil Hall!
This was our first time trying anthem. I'm born and raised in MA but had 8 friends from FL coming to visit and wanted to show them a diverse selection of New England fare without breaking anyone's bank. Stumbled upon Anthem- read the reviews and decided it fit the bill. The clam chowder is award winning and boy does it live up to its title. We all ordered different things varying from the lobster Cobb, lobster Mac and cheese, wicked spicy burger, surf and turf tacos, lobster rolls, etc. it was all so so good. Our server was awesome and he was so funny and friendly. Which is a rare find. Overall great experience.
I went there with my family of 13 after making an advance reservation. The table was set up in a way that had us all very far from each other - and our kids, but we were put on a lovely back deck with a nice view of the street. Food was ok. Nothing special, but you can't beat the location for a gathering of friends visiting Boston. Some more healthy options on the menu would be nice.
Food was very average, not nearly worth the price . Waitress was fairly attemtive but kitchen must have lost track of our order as it took a long time for our food to arrive. But tables on both sides of us received theirs at the same time despite sitting down well after us. This place has a great location but I won't go back.
I had dinner here for my bachelorette party with a large group of 11 people. The restaurant gave us 3 servers for our table and they took great care of us. The menu is limited, but the food was well cooked and it is in a great Faneuil hall location if you are spending a night out in that area of Boston.
The kitchen must have been having an off day. We've been to Anthem many times and it is usually really good. This time, the fondue was mediocre and the cheese curds, which we hadn't tried at Anthem before, were served as one large blob of fried cheese. Disappointed but will probably give it another chance since this was the first time we have had this type of experience. Service though was friendly and good, and the people watching was great as usual.
Food was decent but portions were small for what you paid. Ordered the fried pickles for the table to share there was barely enough for two people to share. Our waiter had to fluctuate between upstairs and downstairs so he could not be as attentive as I'm sure he would have liked.
