Anthem Ratings and Reviews
We came for a brunch and were not disappointed! I got the sausage and two eggs with toast and it was amazing- potatoes were delicious! Coffee was fresh and of good quality! My fiancé got a breakfast sandwich on a Portuguese roll and he loved it!! We will definitely be coming back!
Every time I have made a reservation at Anthem in Opentable it asks me whether I want a regular table or a high top. EVERY reservation I’ve made I’ve requested a regular table not a high top. EVERY time I arrive at Anthem I’m seated at a high top. It’s now a running joke with my guests. STOP ASKING WHAT TYPE OF TABLE I WANT - NO ONE IS LOOKING AT THAT INFORMATION!!!!
The 4 or us had not seen each other for some time and appreciated the ability to converse. We had excellent service from several different people as well as delicious salads and chowder. The fish served with the fish and chips was a real disappointment though; it came with a too-heavy coating of bread crumbs. Overall - I would strongly recommend the restaurant, I would definitely visit again, and I would order something other than the fish and chips.
Great atmosphere, especially at Christmas. Right in Fanueil Hall! Service was outstanding. Food was ok: chowder was best we have ever had, burgers yummy, ..... however, veggies arrived cold, appetizer portions were somewhat skimpy (but delicious), fish just ok.
We would go again.
We have been to Anthem many times over the years and know exactly what we are getting. Solid comfort food, friendly service and vibrant atmosphere. This visit was no exception with a couple of small changes. We were seated upstairs in the area that's open to downstairs. Made it very difficult for conversation. I much prefer the closed in dining area. The positive surprise was the cocktail menu. We had a drunken fig which was just outstanding!! All in all still a good spot that I would recommend.
The hostess was rude, unfriendly and seemed annoyed when we told her we had reservations but were early. The restaurant was less than half full and it was only 4:30 on a Saturday so not sure what issue was but a terrible first impression. The food was alright not special and appetizers were loaded with salt making it difficult to eat. It was very noisy and dark. Wouldn’t recommend unfortunately.
This review is for myself and my husband only. We brought our 16 year old daughter here the same night with six of her friends for birthday dinner. They had great service and enjoyed their meals very much. My husband and I sat downstairs near the bar and I ordered the winter pear salad while my husband got the baked haddock. His meal was fine, the fish was very fresh with roasted potatoes and broccoli. A very simple dish, almost plain presentation, but very tasty just the same. My salad was a radicchio based one with walnuts, pear and goat cheese. Unfortunately it lacked a good combination of flavors - overly bitter with too much radicchio and nothing to balance the flavor, and it tasted as though it had no dressing. I mentioned this to the waitress and she spoke with the manager. They were kind enough to remove it from our bill. I was impressed by this and appreciate the gesture . It shows they care about quality. Overall it's a great spot with a nice selection of food and you can't beat the location.
A can't beat location with a mix of tourist and locals as patrons. Go in the warmer months because the main bar can be quite cold due to its open glass roof. Maybe it was the particular evening but everyone was wearing a jacket. Food is above average but you are paying for the Faneiul Hall real estate.
This review is about brunch. Menu had usual brunch fare, from eggs to pancakes/french toast, not extensive but something for everyone. Interesting that some of the food came with "Portuguese muffins" which are a sweeter version of and English muffin. Food was decent. Service was very friendly. My party cleaned their plates.
We’re from CA and make an annual trek to Boston every year. My first dinner stop is always Anthem. Great food, delicious crafted drinks, excellent service. I haven’t had anything bad here and I love it more every time I go. The enclosed patio bar is wonderful when it’s cold, or the open air patio provides great people watching when it’s warm like it was this week. Have the fondue, crab cakes, pretzels to start and don’t forget the lobster Mac and cheese!!
My husband and I went to Anthem to celebrate our first anniversary and to relive our first date, dinner at Anthem. My husband told the hostess the reason why we were there as we wanted to possibly sit at the same table. They were able to accommodate us with our table, and then gave us complimentary glasses of prosecco and wrote Happy Anniversary on our receipt. We felt so special and were blown away by their hospitality. We started with the homemade chips and onion dip, which is always yummy. My husband has the prosciutto and fig flatbread and I had the wicked spicy burger. Everything was absolutely delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will be returning for many many more years to come to celebrate the big moments in our life.
We gave the food a D+! The soft pretzel app was clearly frozen as one side of each pretzel was cold. The steak did not have the sauce described on the menu and came with plain French fries, also different from what was described in the menu. The prices for the quality of the food were ridiculous. I don't know how this place stays alive in Fanueil Hall!
