Anteprima Ratings and Reviews
I went to Anteprima with three friends. It was a memorable experience. Initially attracted to the fixed price meal, it turned out to be a culinary delight. Their menu is varied and extensive. Everything we ordered was delicious. The service was excellent. They accommodated our wish to move to a quieter table, and were available and attentive. I heartily recommend and look forward to returning.
Great meal and our waiter was excellent. Fun evening for our family. Unfortunately, the special note that I left with my opentable reservation about adding a birthday message to one of the desserts got no response. Otherwise definitely would recommend the food and setting.
Food is good and imaginative, service good. The one thing that none of us liked (all 4) was the sound. it was so noisy that we had to shout to each other, even the people next to us in a table of 4, to be heard and that wasn't easy. That's the only negative but will probably prevent us from going back as it wasn't enjoyable to shout.
Another glorious meal at Anteprima last night. Brought a foodie from San Francicso who adored everything we ate & drank. Started with the tangy leeks in anchovy vinaigrette & the squash soup. Licked our lips over both. Shared the sweet potato gnocchi & the 3-cheese & black garlic ravioli in a tomato sauce. I am a devotee of Anteprima's home-made ravioli but I usually shun red sauce since I have met my life-time limit on bad ones. Anteprima's always delights so I happily suspend my rule. Finished with the grilled trout with baby radishes, beets & greens. Never had that in my 10 years of happy dining here but it was glorious & savory.
Here's what's irking me: Just got some silly OpenTable list of best Italian restaurants neither Anteprima, my favorite, or the 2 other fine Italian ones in Chicago were on it. OpenTable changed a couple years ago so don't believe what they say & head for Anteprima whenever possible! In fact, check out their special dinner on 11-7!
We were able to get a Friday 7 pm reservation on short notice and had a perfect evening at Anteprima. I had the salmon and others the branzino and we shared the tempura zucchini blossoms for appetizer. All were delicious. The host was warm and welcoming and gave us great (and surprisingly, reasonably priced)wine recs.
Our waiter was absolutely wonderful. (Wish I could remember his name.)Very attentive and friendly (but not overly so). He even ran after us as we were leaving to give us a doggie bag we had left on the table. All in all, a great dining experience!
Another great evening at Anteprima. Definitely enjoy the outdoor seating- less noise, intimate setting that really allows for a relaxing dining experience . The food is consistently good quality and good tasting. The orecchiette with lamb sausage is my go-to start to a wonderful meal.
I've been coming here for a few years and always had great service and delicious food. This last time I was there with some close friends to commemorate a loved one. Armando was above and beyond sweet, caring and allowed us to have the perfect dinner. I'm not sure when I will be able to return to Chicago, but this place is a gem and I won't ever forget our latest dinner there.
This was a great neighborhood find! We went for the first time and found the service to be excellent, the outdoor dining area wonderful, the inside dining area quaint, and the food really good. Plus the prix fix was a great value. Would definitely recommend it.
Food is great. Hyper vibe tonight with seemingly too many people jammed in, and service was too quick and perfunctory - mains arrived before starters were finished for example - and surprisingly loud noise level. Plate snatchers are too eager to clear plates away before all members of the party are ready.
Went for an early pre marathon dinner and had a very memorable dining experience from start to finish. Our server was very knowledgeable, professional and not overly friendly...House cocktails were excellent, starters were varied and very tasty, entrees were delicious! Would definitely go back next time we're in Chicago.
This is our go-to place for special events and everyday. Every dish lives up to a certain standard and is consistent. The service is good and also warm and fun if you like that and not if you don't. It is Andersonville and it is Chicago. I feel so at home here. If you like quiet, do come early. If you like bustle, come late. Cocktails and breadsticks are memorable in addition to the octopus appetizer, orecchiette pasta, steak, and panna cotta. Delicious, then explore again!
Many of my friends have said this is one of their favorite restaurants in Andersonville. I finally made it here for the first time, and after looking at the menu for 20 seconds, I looked to my wife and said, "We will need to come back." She responded, "It's going to be really difficult for me to decide what to get!" So many enticing options, and the food itself, once we decided, was really, really good.
