This a good value Italian restaurant in Andersonville. The patio is cozy during the summer. During the week they offer a prix fixed menu.
Reliably a great experience. Outdoor space is quieter than indoor. Summer selections on menu.
Love eating outside. There were 8 of us. Can’t keep people away from Anteprima, our “family” restaurant.
Excellent pasta, wine & vegetarian options,,,,,seasonal farm-to-table style and friendly ambiance!
Portions small. Beef fatty. Wonderful service and patio.
My wife and I went to Anteprima to celebrate her birthday. The food was excellent and the house-made lemoncello was a big hit.
Could have used some music outside ... background music
We are visiting Chicago for a family trip. I learned about this place from somewhere I can’t remember. We are so glad we made the effort to come here by subway from the downtown Michigan Avenue. The foods we had was delicious!
Always enjoyable at anteprima
What a delightful summer experience. The food was delicious and service outstanding. Thank you for one of the most enjoyable evenings of the summer.
Absolutely delicious food and outstanding service, ask for Kathy Kelly! The food is the sort where one lovely bite pales in delightful comparison to the one that follows. Even the double espresso at the end of our meal surprised us both with its perfection.
The roasted carrots were especially inspiring!
Food was overpriced for what it is. The servings were minuscule, the food itself was ok but not worth the price. There are many more restaurants out there that have more interesting food and better serving size for a better price.
The chef is magnificent. A “foodies” must. Menu changes often which offers a variety. Seasonings are paired well with foods, and they will accomodate GF diets.
Great neighborhood restaurant!! Excellent food and wine in a friendly and comfortable atmosphere.
Definitely to recommend and to go back both in the summer (very nice patio) and winter.
The food was delicious and we loved the small plates style Italian dishes, but the waitress might have been having an off day. She forgot the second wine glass, kept pouring water and wine all over our table, forgot the bread and all the necessities multiple times and needed to be reminded. The experience could've been perfect if the waitress had been even a little more attentive because we didn't have many complaints about the food and ambiance.
My wife and I had a wonderful meal at Anteprima, and we will return. The food was excellent. It was a busy Saturday night and the restaurant was busy, Our server, Armand, was very efficient, but he had too many tables to wait on. I felt he was a bit more hurried than I like. Regarding price, I would say Anteprima is pricey, but I will happily pay their prices again. The food was that good. Our only real complaint is that the restaurant is noisy--it was difficult for us to hold a conversation. We had been offered a table in the very nice outdoor patio, but since it was our first visit, we decided to eat in. We should have taken the outside table.
Food and wine were wonderful and the service was flawless. We are in the garden which was my wish.
Very loud and difficult to carry on a conversation. Waitress was great but kitchen was backed up and it took a long time to get our entrees
This was our favorite restaurant in Andersonville. We love the food and atmosphere. We came back after having moved away and sat on the patio. Patio is amazing with great lighting and atmosphere. Unfortunately all this didn’t matter because of the food portions. We ordered the caprese salad special for $11. It consisted of two slices of tomato with a slice of mozzarella on each. So basically about 3-4 bites each. These aren’t exotic ingredients yet we paid over $1 per bite. I then ordered the orecchiette for my main course. They offer two sizes and I ordered the ‘larger’ one. It came with a couple specks of meat and greens and about 3/4 the amount of pasta you would see at any other place. I double checked with the waiter that he brought me the right size because it was so small. Unfortunate and very disappointing. Won’t be back.
I live in the neighborhood, and finally went to check it out. We ordered the $32 three-course menu. The food was tasty, but the pasta portions are tiny. I was still hungry after the meal. Service was very good.
Excellent food in Andersonville without the tourist prices in other areas of the city. Clean, seasoned fresh. Just plain good. I hope it stays a neighborhood gem.
Anteprima is one of my favorite restaurants in the city.
We sat out back patio which is really nice except the building nextdoor sounds like they have dog kennel. The wine was awesome but the food was bland. Both my dinner & my wife's had almost no flavor. Maybe an off day for the kitchen.
this is an adorable rustic place with a charming patio. the food was small portions and though good, I've had better a few blocks down from here.
We love it here. It’s always a little noisy but we know that. The food and service are always amazing. Tonight was no exception.
We love Antiprima, and we'll go back ... even though they're basically taking your plates and napkins and flatware right out of your hands as you take your last bites. They rush you once you've finished dinner. It's aggressive and rude.
Overall, the food in this rustic Italian restaurant was delicious and slightly out of the ordinary. We picked an excellent bottle of red to accompany dinner and enjoyed an excellent beat salad and two amazing entrees. The server was helpful and friendly. I would go back right away (especially because one of the meals was a special and lots of the regular dishes look great -- can't wait to try everything!)
The food was delicious, the service was great. Only down side was that it was very hot inside, the AC couldn’t keep up with the heat wave. Will go again.
Seriously hot. Turn up or fix the AC. Left in a hurry on our anniversary night. Uncomfortably hot for the guests and staff.
Friendly staff, makes you feel welcome, delicious food
The food was okay. There was nothing extraordinary about any of the dishes. There was nothing bad about anything we had but none of us walked out wanting to return anytime soon.
We’re regulars here and always enjoy the food. The weeknight fixed price offer is a great deal and the restaurant was packed for a Wednesday night.
Our food was wonderful and we had a great server. Fortunately we were seated in a corner; the restaurant is tightly packed and the volume gets quite loud. The corners at a bit better.
We are never disappointed while dining here. The food is incredible, waitstaff the best! Grazie!
This neighborhood gem should not be missed. It is the prefect place for a summer dinner, the patio is intimate and cool, away from the city sounds. The service is attentive, even when the restaurant is full. The food quality is an outstanding value with their $32 prix fixe menu for appetizer, entree and dessert. They serve the perfect heirloom tomato salad, pepper encrusted tun and tiramisu. The sockeye salmon with pesto is also notable. Make a reservation, Andersonville neighbors like to dine out!
Great as always.
Ante Prima is consistently good food, good service, nice ambiance & good value.
We've dined at Anteprima several times and have always enjoyed it. First the $32 3 course meal is a steal. We had the meatballs, polenta, broccoli & spring onions as apps, no complaints. Pasta as a second course, delicious. Unfortunately the main courses for my wife and i didn't live up to expectations, My wife had the strip steak and i had the baby brick chicken both were quite bland with no flavor. Maybe an off night
We have dined here several times before and had good to fair experiences, this time was not the case. We were literally the only table sitting inside and initial service took several minutes, and was not followed up by offering drinks, apps, or info; she simply walked away. It took several more minutes and our table to flag down the server before we were offered food and drinks. We ordered and hoped the service and food would make up for it, needless to say it did not. While the food did not take long to come out, it was mediocre at best, sides were missing, and presentation/portions (specifically the shrimp) were underwhelming. Overall the service was poor, food was mediocre, and we will sadly not be returning after being regular patrons for the past few years.
We ate here to celebrate my daughter and her fiancé getting an apartment together in the neighborhood. My sister was in for a visit so there were 5 of us. The selection of appetizers was unique and delicious. Everyone loved their entrees, too. I had the special ravioli with beets, ricotta and orange. It was amazing. My partner had the pork chop and raved about it. My sister had the pasta special that was bow tie with pig’s feet in a wonderful sauce. My daughter’s fiancé had the leg of lamb and thoroughly enjoyed it. For dessert we split three: chocolate hazelnut tart, berry crisp and tiramisu. All three were delightful. Our waiter was funny and attentive. A great dinner to be remembered.
