We've been going to anteprima for years. Always an amazing meal and a wonderful experience. We love this place.
Just a little loud but it was a fun Saturday night! Always stellar. Our favorite neighborhood restaurant.
We love the patio and the food and wines are very authentic.
Anteprima is usually outstanding and our favorite go-to yet my birthday dinner missed the mark. Our service was lackluster, like she wanted to be anywhere else but the restaurant. The appetizer combo platter items had all the same colors and textures — it tasted and looked like a pile of roasted mush, the brick chicken was flavorless and the full order of risotto w roasted apples had maybe 2-3 apple chunks in total and was bland. We’re hoping it was just an off-night. The patio of course was lovely as usual and their dessert fare can always be counted on to cap off a meal. Speaking of that, our guest ordered a cappuccino and was told no as the restaurant doesn’t make them. Ok, it is traditionally a breakfast only thing in Italy but it is odd that the only explanation is “we don’t make ‘em”.
Friday night and it looks like they were short staffed. The food was good as usual, but service was less than attentive. The hostess came by and saw that our dinner plates were still in front of us for a good 15 minutes after we had finished our dinner (admittedly my pet peeve).
Wonderful Italian food with a lively atmosphere. Very enjoyable!
Outstanding first experience - everything is just done right...will go back many times!
All the food was delicious, really yummy — including the cocktails, appetizers, and desserts. We got friendly, excellent service from our waiter. The outdoor patio seating was very pleasant. Worth it.
I have been coming here for quite some time however this time the serving size felt small. I ordered the main course however the serving size was small compared to what I am used to at other places for the price. Perhaps they have shrunk their serving sizes? As such I will not be going there again
We always have a great time at Anteprima! The food is always excellent and it is a warm and friendly place. We introduced it to friends who had never been there and they were so excited and will definitely be back.
Outstanding as always! The outside tables are truly special on a late summer evening. And, speaking of special, their menu specials are not to be overlooked.
Second time visiting Anteprima. Service has been excellent. Food is very good and reasonability priced. Wonderful neighborhood restaurant.
Really well flavored food and great wine list. One of our pasta's came out too al dente (slightly undercooked). We told them and they quickly brought out a new dish and removed the entire cost of that dish from our bill. Great customer service to do that.
Fresh, excellent food with attentive, respectful service. They have food for vegetarians, are nice to babies, and made me a mocktail without making me feel weird about it.
Almost always a nice experience here. Service was unusually slow this evening but we weren’t in a hurry. Good place to relax.
Lovely place with a quiet atmosphere, we sat out doors on the patio. We ordered the tasting menu, everything we ordered was excellent. All the staff we encountered was extremely kind. Our waiter was amazing. Will definitely visit again.
Service by Armando was attentive but not intrusive. He helped with our wine selection.
Definitely recommend the prixe fix menu - what a deal!
As always, fresh, simple ingredients that make each dish. They allow the ingredients to make the dish. No need to over do it and they have always understood that here! Less is more. So good.
I have dined at Anteprima many times, and on a recent visit I was worried that the quality was declining, as compared to previous visits - we had tuna that was dry, an octopus appetizer that had very little octopus, and a cheese plate that took a very long time to receive and was lackluster at best.
However, good news! On my visit 2 days ago, the deficits have been remedied (although we didn't order the cheese plate or tuna, everything we ordered was exceptionally good). The octopus appetizer had generous chunks of octopus; we had a delicious spaghetti with lemon and arugula, a perfect whitefish piccata, excellent and perfectly cooked salmon, among other items. No complaints on the food or the service, so I'm happy to report that Anteprima is still my favorite restaurant in Chicago.
We’ve been dining here since it opened. Consistently exquisite food and service.
The service, the food, the drinks were all top notch. We had the trumpet mushroom starter and the pepper pesto sauce i could live on - just give me that and bread please! The orecchiette and the pappardelle were top notch - yum yum!
We arrived for dinner at 8 pm. No one greeted us when we came in, and service was unbelievably slow. 0ur entrees were not served until 9:30 pm. The server told us they were out of one of the appetizers we ordered, caponata, but then served a small portion of it, which contained loose olive pits. The octopus starter was terrible, mostly potatoes with very little octopus. Buccatini carbonara was watery and contained bits of scorched guanciale. Trout was overcooked. Brick chicken was overcooked, dry and tasteless and barely warm when finally served. The server tried as best she could to make amends but this was a very disappointing experience.
Anteprima uses quality ingredients in their dishes. The menu items that we had were executed very well. For the quality of the ingredients and the fact that a lot of items are house made, it offers great value for the discerning diner.
My partner and I are regular customers of Ante Prima but food has been inconsistent lately. We went 3x in 10 days and the food ran the gamut from excellent to mediocre. As well, the pasta portions and price are not commensurate to other quality Italian restaurants in Chicago.
Hostess was rude.
The food is wonderful and the service is excellent! Also it has a prix fixe menu that's a great value -- Monday - Thursday.
Love that neighborhood gem. Reasonable prices, good service, and innovative menu!
A perfect place to bring out of town guests. They raved about the selection and wine options. Fabulous server and service. The most enjoyable evening!
Amazing food and service!
This a good value Italian restaurant in Andersonville. The patio is cozy during the summer. During the week they offer a prix fixed menu.
Reliably a great experience. Outdoor space is quieter than indoor. Summer selections on menu.
Love eating outside. There were 8 of us. Can’t keep people away from Anteprima, our “family” restaurant.
Excellent pasta, wine & vegetarian options,,,,,seasonal farm-to-table style and friendly ambiance!
Portions small. Beef fatty. Wonderful service and patio.
My wife and I went to Anteprima to celebrate her birthday. The food was excellent and the house-made lemoncello was a big hit.
Could have used some music outside ... background music
We are visiting Chicago for a family trip. I learned about this place from somewhere I can’t remember. We are so glad we made the effort to come here by subway from the downtown Michigan Avenue. The foods we had was delicious!
Always enjoyable at anteprima
What a delightful summer experience. The food was delicious and service outstanding. Thank you for one of the most enjoyable evenings of the summer.
