The bottomless brunch is great. Recommend going with a couple friends to share different dishes. The food was tasty. It did get loud around lunch time as there were some large groups around us. Our server Berk was great. Very attentive and friendly. Great experience.
One of my favorite brunches in DC! Best bottomless deal! Just wish service was quicker especially from the bar when the 2 hour dining limit is so strict.
Restaurant week brunch
We enjoyed our time at Ankara during restaurant week. The food was well seasoned and prepared, the only issue that we encountered was during our appetizer, where the number of pita chips to hummus was minimal (one of my coworkers had only three chips on the plate) we asked for more, but they told us we had bread and dismissed us.
I will go back to Ankara, as we enjoyed the overall experience.
Many gluten-free options, great service, outstanding Turkish coffee, has a very high "health" rating, which suggests cleanliness
Had a most wonderful dinner at Ankara during DC Restaurant Week. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The menu was varied with very clear explanations and the wine menu had the most detailed descriptions of flavor that I have ever seen. I highly recommend Ankara for a great date night.
As a group of 5, we did 4 apps to share, then entrees of kebabs. Everything was wonderful. The staff made us feel so welcome by offering a chef’s treat upon arrival, as well as complimentary coffees at the end of our meal. It was a fun experience to dine there & all very well priced. Larger entrees were mid $20s while the kebabs were only $13. Highly recommend!
The food and service were very good. It was extremely noisy as there is no carpeting, which made it difficult to hear anyone across the table. However, when I arrived early and specifically asked that the check he given to me as I had invited guests, they allowed my guests to pay anyway. Very poor form. I do not think I will be returning.
Bottomless brunch was great. A lot of variety in the food and drinks (wine, beer, liquor & also mimosas and Bloody Mary). Very good and attentive service and they even let us go a little over the 2 hour limit. No complaints here!
The food was good, but the drinks (unlimited mimosas) were not that great. Mostly juice. The service was ok, but a bit slow.
A large group of us made a reservation for brunch. We knew right away we didn’t want to the bottomless brunch, just bottomless drinks. Our server kept trying to pressure us into the whole bottomless brunch and was clearly annoyed when we refused. The bottomless drinks were not refilled very frequently and dishes that still had food on them were taken from our table before we were finished. I had to actually get up and track down a server to bring us our check because no one was taking care of us at all. Not very impressed overall.
Went there with family two evenings ago and we loved everything we ordered! From the tzatziki, the (perfect) pitas, beef/lamb pide, to the entrees (kofte, lamb chops, beef) it was all fantastic! The service was just the right amount of attentive and all of the staff seemed to enjoy working there. We thought the pricing was definitely fair and the portions were reasonable in relation to the price of each item. I will definitely be back!
Great service. Bland food. I had high hopes for Ankara. We ordered a number of small plates and were surprised by the blandness of nearly every item. The cocktails were decent, the staff was friendly and attentive...but the food was just average.
Outstanding food and service! Felafel and lamb dishes were flavorful. The bread was also outstanding. Great dinner.
Great food, great service. Had the Ankara experience on NYE. WELL WORTH IT!
Was pleasantly surprised at how good this restaurant is. Service was great as was the food and the staff are genuinely pleased to help and make sure your experience is the best it can be.
The service was impeccable and the food was delicious. Definitely worth the walk from our hotel to the restaurant. We ordered appetizers, cold mezzes (3 versus 6 items) was worth it. The bread that accompanied the 3 cold mezzes was worth it. Our entrees were savory and perfectly spiced. Overall, our experience was wonderful!
Great service and food. Our server was fantastic. We are definitely coming back.
Delicious lunch food though not quite as quick as I would hope.
Ankara is a good restaurant just not for brunch. The wait staff seems unable to keep up with the orders. The brunch is all you can eat and things we ordered never came out. The waiter continued to bring us bread in order to fill us up and ignored what we had ordered. They were also slow to re-fill drinks and the orange juice in the mimosa was warm. The food we did get was really good but I wouldn't go back because of the service
An intriguing array of food options, and an unusual wine list to match, featuring specialties from Turkey and surrounding countries. The food was quite good, and they were able to accommodate a large group at the last minute, which I appreciated.
The portions were minuscule.
Delicious appetizers, good portion size, helpful waitress with the wine menu
This is a D.C. gem. The atmosphere and service was excellent, and my entire family was raving about how delicious grills and appetizers were for weeks afterwards. Absolutely one of my favorite restaurants in the city!
The food was really nice and the service was good too! Highly recommended.
The chicken kabob was 4 teeny tiny pieces of meat with no special flavor. The mixed vegetables were mostly green bell pepper and onion in a flavorless sauce. The wine had a funny edge to it. It was so noisy even though the restaurant was not at all full... I would never go back. For the money, there are dozens of places in DC that would be a hundred times better.
Came here to celebrate my girlfriend
we have an excellent dinner experience. the staff greeted us and made us feel welcomed! the menu was explained to us and suggestions were given to help us with the menu.
the food arrived within a reasonable amount of time. it was fresh and good.
everything was good.
i do recommend it if you are ever in the DC area.
We’ll go back anytime, we like their food
Great Turkish food. We love this place and return often.
Have been several times. Food is very good, fast and great service. Parking can be tricky, recommend the metro.
Very tasty food. Excellent service. Price with Travelzoo coupon that we used was excellent. Otherwise, prices are reasonable for what you get.
Went using a Groupon (or something along those lines) so wasn't expecting it to be nearly as interesting and as good as it proved to be! Really EXCELLENT Turkish fare - we'll be back!
Disappointed. Desserts were very good. Service was ok.
There are better options for Turkish food in the DC area.
Excellent in all respects
I was hesitating to order Iskender Kebab since it's very difficult to find a proper one in the States but it was very delicious!
Our staff had a great time at Ankara. The service was friendly and quick. Overall we had a great time and would go again.
Delicious and authentic - would absolutely recommend !
Lots of errors on the menu, especially in regards to allergens. However our server was very sweet and she did her best to give us options. Overall the food was good and price reasonably for a restaurant of its class. The ambiance is nice.. It was pretty quiet for a Friday evening and the prices were decent for a restaurant of its class, although definitely not in the affordable range. I would not say it was the best Turkish restaurant I’ve even been to but I would definitely return.
