ANJU Ratings and Reviews
Our experience at Anju was wonderful. We didn't feel rushed in our selections or dinning experiences. The recommendations given to us for both food and wine pairing was spot on. Her descriptions of the food showed us that she truely loves the food as well and not just generically describing it to sell more food. I think was appreciated. We were right by the door which was too bad, a two person take by the window would have been nice. We swere still able to maintain our privacy. I would definitely return.
I made a reservation for my boyfriends birthday and they called a couple hours before saying I would be getting a walk-in table which wasnt great but we thought it would be fine. It was very tight spacing and right beside the hostess stand and The two girls that were hostesses were distracting as they were playing some hand slapping game which I thought it was inappropriate. Apparently our crappy table was a system error and when another couple came in who also had a reservation and the same system error who was offered a free appetizer which we were not given. Food was okay but nothing special. Overall it was a pretty disappointing birthday dinner experience.
Decent food overall, not on par with all the great reviews on here. The service was good but we were seated at the table by the entrance since there was a mix up during our reservation. Was promised free appetizer and they brought it out promptly, the only issue was that it was still on the bill and we paid for it.
Food was really great, different and exciting tastes.Service was amazing, very friendly, explaining and helping with the menu, Very attentive, eg never had to ask the water filled up, try the Brussels sprouts and the oxtail tortellini as well as the hot stone bowls
Unfortunately our experience this time was disappointing. Work group of 6 people at lunch waited one hour for our main course to arrive. Mandatory gratuity of 18% on a group of 6 contrary to website info. Didn’t give us option to scale our tip back given the very slow service.
We had a sensational meal, concentrating on sharing the plates among us and trying 6-8 different dishes. It was just really delicious. The service was great - not rushed at all, our server seemed to be in tune with us - and it really wasn't that expensive considering we had such good food and wine for dinner. We are going back for sure - and frequently!
While the “plates” were big the portions (of meat specifically) were too small for the prices. The lettuce wraps were served with lettuce that wasn’t 'wrap-able' simply too much negotiation for lunch. No cutlery served.... Salt content very very high. Sorry guys. Little of a disappointment. No alcohol... Over 75$ for lunch just 2 of us...
We enjoyed our dinner at Anju. The service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive.
I would suggest though that the menu indicate how many pieces come with certain items. We were a table of 4 and ordered the lamb chops assuming that our server would have said there are only 2 pieces, or suggest that we order 2 plates, but she didn’t. It would be easy to have that info on the menu. The items are really designed for one couple at the table, otherwise you can expect to order several items to have enough food for your table. The chicken sliders were delicious as was the fried ramen noodles dish.
The food is always on point!
The service this time around was less than. Went for brunch with a few friends, one had two small children. When the food started to come out the kids came absolutely last.
As someone who works in the food industry, this seems fairly 101, that the kids should be first and even the option to be before the adults.
Might want to step it up for the next family that makes its way in.
Been meaning to get here for awhile to try the gochujang chicken wings. Worth the wait. Was super impressed with all of the food and especially the service. Jessica was an excellent guide for the evening and made sure everything down to the napkins were up to the high standard Anju puts forward.
We went for and had a quick yet yummy bites of food on our way to the hockey game that night... Always tough to narrow down choices when only the two of us, as always so many you want to try yet unable to eat them all!! Have been 2-3 other times with 1-2 other couples and like that you can order a good variety of dishes that everyone can sample!! Anju never seems to disappoint!
Was required to give credit card information to make the reservation so that they could/would charge $25/head for no show. Later wanted to add 2 persons to the original reservation for 7 - indicating we were fine with a tight fit. Was told that there was no way they could accommodate the additional persons, so, the partners of two guests who managed to modify their plans to attend, were on their own for dinner. Would have been fine but, as I assumed, the rectangular table we sat at was designed to hold 8 and could easily accommodate another on the bench seating, or a chair on one end that would not have interfered with any other guests or with traffic. Starting off in a negative mood did not bode well for my impression of Anju. Food was good, but not as good as many mom/pop Korean places in the city at a fraction of the price. The wait staff was very good, but could not make up for the 'good' food. The place was extremely noisy - got me perseverating about the two missing people. Then, with a group of 7 - 18% gratuity included in bill!? Maybe for 8 or 9 attending, and a very good, or better meal. Will not be back.
The food was fantastic, especially the short ribs that were so melt in your mouth tender, the beef tataki, brussel sprouts , even for non brussel sprout eaters, just to name a few.
Our server was Jessica and she was very good. We ended up staying for 4 hours and ate so much because we wanted to try so many dishes. Loved it.
