I love it here. My favourite restaurant in Calgary. Great food, amazing service and even better cocktails.
Great food, great service and free corkage is fantastic on sundays!
Came to the city for a visit with friend. Thought dinner out and Anju seemed to be the place to go.
Started off with a drink that was undrinkable. Got moved to our table but no service for @ 15 minutes. Had to ask for service. Did give us a free appetizer. Food was good but they seem to like serano peppers in everything. Must be other in places that offer better value.
Great food, very cool and original dishes. Atmosphere was good too. I thought the service was only adequate - server wasn’t very familiar with the specials and wasn’t particularly attentive. However it was a busy Friday evening. I would definitely go back.
Anju was great. Our server was attentive and helpful with some food allergies at the table. The food was AMAZING and I cannot recommend this place enough. The atmosphere is also very good.
Food was excellent. Service was so/so. Waitress made mistakes and was slow on drink orders.
This is probably one of the best restaurants in Calgary. My Husband I and love exploring different restaurants to try and Anju is always our go to. The food is absolutely delicious and the service is great! Anju is one of our fav restaurants in Calgary. Would highly recommend it!
You need to make the food more flavourable
Seems like the food was given super hot spice with out adding any flavour
Really enjoy all times I have been to Anju. Great food and excellent service. Love sharing plates with friends. It is a hopping place so not for quiet night out. Is noisy but fun atmosphere. Great for groups and night out with friends.
Great food, every meat from every dish was amazing. Beef tataki was best I've had, though pricey
For the big taste menu
Anju can be counted on for consistency. The food is always incredible and we leave wanting to come back. I would recommend Anju to friends and family.
Loved the whole experience: food, ambience and services! Delicious, exquisite, two thumbs up!!!
It is the problem with high expectations. I saw that Anju was EnRoute magazine best new restaurant in Canada a couple years back and thought this was going to be a great meal. The meals were creative but execution was poor. Foie gras, Tofu, and the Riesling wine jelly had no taste (especially compared to the decadent foie gras at Model Milk). The black cod had a crispy skin (great!) but the flesh was very undercooked and it was served on top of some potatoes that were too mushy (similar to the side dish potatoes you get in korean restaurants). The oxtail tortellini was underwhelming especially compared to other restaurants (Vero's veal stuffed agnolotti was amazing). Also little details like the pinot noir being served way too warm detracted from the meal...a top restaurant like this should have wine mastered. These details wouldn't have bothered me if i didn't come in with high expectations.
Now there is still a lot of good at the restaurant. Ambiance is great, the servers were friendly, the short ribs were perfect (but a korean restaurant must have good short ribs by default), the chicken skewers were great, the brussel sprouts were fantastic, and the overall bill was pretty reasonable.
But the challenge here is Calgary has an abundance of great restaurants to choose from and I know i can go elsewhere to get a better overall experience.
Best meal I’ve had in years. Service was stellar atmosphere was great. I’m very impressed and will be back when I’m in Calgary again
It was the worst dining experience for our wedding anniversary dinner. We ordered a $75 crab which was covered by greasy spicy sauce which made it so hard to crack. The server said it would be a lot for two but there was not much to eat. They need a serious menu change - should stop being so creative. Truly awful.
Great food. Great atmosphere. Awesome cocktails. Try the Soju! On a weekend night this place is VERY busy and I felt like the service couldn't quite keep up. Took a long time to get our first cocktails and they missed one of our dishes. But it wouldn't stop me from going back as the food and cocktails are that good.
Loved the Salmon Sashimi and the Dessert Pancake. The savory dessert notes, cheddar and truffle, were a nice balance to the sweet toffee and the tangy raspberry foam. Totally recommended!
Been to Anju many times but this was the firs time we brought children. Server seemed visibly un interested in serving us. Took our order and the food took over 1 hour and he never came back once for refills or to check in on us. At the end i had to flag him down to ask for the bill as well a to go box. He never asked us if we wanted desert. It was a terrible feeling.
Came here for dinner on a Saturday night during weekend trip to Calgary. Food is amazing. The dishes were really well flavoured. Especially loved the KFC sliders and Brussels sprouts. Good atmosphere. Service was a bit slow when we first turned up but then got much better. I would highly recommend this resteraunt.
Every plate was a taste sensation. Worth flying to Calgary. Go with many friends so you can try everything. So good we're going back tomorrow.
No offence to Anju, other people might like it, but unfortunately not for my taste buds. The menu actually doesn't have anything simple. It is actually not a typical authentic korean restaurant, it is more modified. Soju selection was great though. Anyways, it was just my opinion.
We are all still talking about how good the oxtail tortellini was. Cruncy brussels sprouts and tacos (salmon and port kelly) were also very good. Stay away from the KFC sliders tho.
Enjoyed dinner here with my boss and our SOs who travel together quite often. We were only in Calgary for one night and I selected this place based on hotel recommendations and ratings from travel and food websites. Korean food was new to all of us, so it was a bit of a risk. Anju did not disappoint! Everything we tried was at least good tasting, and several things were just incredible. We also had one semi-vegan (eats fish) in our group and Anju's menu easily accommodated them. This is a great place for a group as the family style serving let's everyone share the experience. We had no reservation issues as others have reported.
Great tasty food!
birthday with friends ordered all special dishes. Spicy squid on rice, fired chicken(half), tofu, kfc sliders. Beef ribs etc. Service was really good !
Fantastically knowledgeable wait staff, food was great. There was a table of very loud folks having a great time, they were politely asked to quiet down a bit. This was appreciated by us as we could barely hear over them. Overall a great experience! Will go back as there were many items we did not sample.
Visited the restaurant with a friend from Korea. We had a very nice meal at Anju and very good service.
Five stars. Food, wine and cocktails were all better than expected. Jessica is a great server.
Amazing food, great atmosphere and the server was personable and timely. Overall great experience at Anju!
I love this place! The food is delicious and fun and we always get out of there for about ~$50/person including drinks!
We recently enjoyed a birthday dinner with family at Anju. The birthday girl was treated to a complimentary glass of proseco. Our dinner was delicious, with excellent selections for vegans and carnivores.
Everything was fantastic except the restaurant was quite cold. I could’ve worn my coat for the entire dinner. Food, service and drinks were excellent.
Excellent food and service
First time eating at ANJU, the waitress ( jessica) was awesome. She helped us thru the menu and made some great suggestions. If you do go, try the buffalo wings.....so good. The food was spot on, if there was one thing to mention it was the temperature of the room. There was a cold blast am guessing coming from the HVAC unit.. overall great place to dine!!!
Awesome as always. Great service. Server was new and knew the menu very well. My girlfriend mentioned to hostess it was my Bday but no acknowledgement.
Still one of my favorite places to eat in the city! The food is always outstanding and the ambience is great. Could eat the brussell sprouts for every meal of every day for the rest of my life!
Fantastic Korean tapas. Delicious traditional Korean sauces and spices combined with fresh, unique dishes.
It was for my wife’s birthday. Food and service was just okay.
Creative Korean fusion cuisine, both food and service was excellent.
