Small town fun. Great service and great food presentation and taste. Lucky to have it within driving distance. Worth the trip and extremely professional and not your normal small town restaurant and bar.
Best out-of-the-way restaurant within 45 minutes of Lafayette. Excellent food all around.
Good experience. Very good service by Emily, daughter of the owners. Food ordered was comfort in nature so no difficult kitchen labor required. Good time including the drive from Indianapolis and back on highway 421.
Wow - our first time here and we will be back ... often. The food was superb, and please leave room for dessert -- the bread pudding and Donkey Balls were phenomenal. We are from Chicago (but moving to the area), have high quality standards, and heard through word of mouth that Angry Donkey was a great destination -- it certainly did not disappoint! The service was great also, and the vibe was very friendly and welcoming.
Birthday dinner for my mother-in-law & she loved it!
We drove over 40 minutes to go to the Angry Donkey. Excellent food and value. Always a fun time.
We have a great time. The food was very good; with great service.
We miss the old Keltie’s restaurant in Westfield so when we found out the owners opened a restaurant in Michigantown we knew we had to make the trip. The food was very good. It’s a bit of a drive from where we live but we’ll be back again.
We had dinner at the Angry Donkey and it is a hidden gem in a small town called Michigantown. A friend had told us about it and, while it was a 40 minute drive to get there, the drive was well worth it. The menu is nice blend of unique offerings of steaks, seafoods, chicken and salads/sandwiches, and they have a different special every night. While the atmosphere is casual, the presentations are more gourmet. I had the "Begger's Purse" which is a hot chicken salad wrapped in puff pastry with a warm cranberry compote, and it was delicious and very rich. Others in our party had shrimp dishes (the shrimp was very large and tender) and the filet (said it was one of the best steaks he had every had). We topped off our meal with the warm bread pudding with homemade carmel sauce and even though we were all stuffed after our entrees, it was so awesome we somehow found room to finish the desserts. This is not to be missed. We waddled out to our cars after this feast, and look forward to returning again soon to try some of the other entrees. If you are looking for a restaurant that is off the beaten path, the drive to Michigantown is worth the trip-you won't be disappointed.
We have eaten at the Angry Donkey several times and it never disappoints. The food is absolutely delicious. My husband has food allergies and they make sure his food is safe for him to eat. The service and atmosphere are wonderful. I would highly recommend trying out the Angry Donkey.
We have been there many times it is always good. Added new items last week
Great food! I have liked everything I have ordered!
Beef Wellington was perfect. Worth the drive, this is one of the state's best restaurants!
Located in a small town, Angry Donkey delivers a steak that is fit for any large city. My steak was cooked to perfection. Great meal and outstanding service. This is a place that I will definitely visit again.
A friend recommended The Angry Donkey so my wife &
I went & invited some friends. We read about the chef & couple that owned it & was happy to discover they were Christians.
Our meals were fantastic! I had the deviled egg appetizer & pan-seared duck with cheesy grits & roasted acorn squash!
Delicious! Can’t wait to go back
Food was fabulous! Waitress was knowledgeable. Will definitely dine again!
For a small town restaurant it was very good. It had the feel of a sports bar. The wait staff did a very good job - quick, efficient and friendly. The food was good. we had an appetizer of smoked chicken wings, fried in butter and dipped in a nice tasting sauce. Had a pulled pork sandwich with sweet potatoe fries. The pork had a nice smoked flavor and the fries were hot. A little disappointed in that no barbacue sauce was provided for the sandwich. Overall it was a good meal but I thought it was just a little pricey. The prices on their website was much lower than the prices on the menu.
Great food and better service than you will get anywhere else. Completely worth the drive!
Wonderful service, tasty food and a great atmosphere!
EXCELLENT food & Svc!!
Delicious and diverse menu. Prices are reasonable. The seating area is not so crowded that you hear everyone else's conversation. The owner checked in with patrons throughout the dinner service. That is really appreciated.
Really good food. Creative menu. Outstanding crab cakes. Our favorite entree is the Beggar’s Purse. They do need to install a water filtration system to take the taste from the well water. Either that or diners need to drink their bourbon straight. We always enjoy the drive to Michigantown. This drive is no longer than going to a downtown Indianapolis restaurant ... and it is much more pleasant. Keltie and Joe do a great job.
A night out with two couples! Close to home and easy to find. Very welcoming and fun environment too, definitely would go back for the third time !
Nash once again was our waiter, super sweet and has a great personality!
Yes, I think we will be back. I did have the blackened catfish and grits, it was very good. I like the Acorn squash, it was a fun side that you don't see on a menu. We had a party of 6 and they seated us in a corner round table, that was the best. We have a group that travel all over to try new places and this was a winner for us. We had a great time and Nash was a fun server and was a local. Very cool!
Great place to find and will definitely be back. Pork chop and Wings were great, ribeye steak not so much...
Great food. Loved the Sunday brunch. Service was wonderful.
We sat on the left side as you walk in. It is quieter on that side but not quite as “homey” feeling. The kitchen was backed up so service was a little slow but it was no problem as we weren’t in a hurry. We had salmon, pulled pork and salad. All was excellent.
Every time we go to Angry Donkey, the service is awesome and food is fantastic. I love it there.
Like this place a lot. Keltie makes it so personable. Food is always Great!!
My wife and I drove up from the Indy burbs based upon positive reviews and prior good experiences with catering by the Domina’s. Great restaurant... food was excellent and prices reasonable. We had the filet and the tenderloin tips. Shared dessert was the orange bread with berries. All the dishes were straight-forward, but again... excellent. The experience was definitely with the drive. Tables were available at 6p on a week night, but the place was pretty full by 6:45... consider making a reservation.
Nice clean place to dine for all ages, food was superb, waitress attentive to the needs of all...couldn't ask for a more pleasant experience. Cute and quaint décor, and did I mention this place is CLEAN??? Perfect for 1 or a gathering, you bet we will be back soon!!!
Great food and fun!!!
1st Time to the Donkey. Food and service was excellent. It was obvious the establishment was well run. We were visited by the Chef as well as the owner(I think)
We will be back!
First visit the evening special beef tenderloin with perfectly cooked vegetables was superb! Hidden Gem!!!
Best restaurant in Michigantown! 😀 Menu has lots of variety and unique offerings
It is a little noisy, maybe hanging something from the ceiling to soften the noise would be helpful. :)
Great food! Wonderful service!
We have been there several times! Really friendly, good service, excellent food! Great hidden gem, worth the road trip!
Nothing not to like at the Angry Donkey and only 20 minutes from Russiaville.
They are always so accommodating. Food was good but breading was falling off pecan chicken salad. Needed to be cooked a bit longer.
