Angler San Francisco
Overall good, we indicated the occasion was for a birthday. Staff acknowledged the birthday person in the beginning, but in the end we did even get a candle or birthday gesture in the end at all. Felt bad when we left.
The food & service was great, but I ordered The wine and after looking at my bill today I was charged the wrong wine. I ordered The Vincent Pinard Flor at $77 a bottle, the wine apparently brought to me was The Vincent Pinard Chene Marchand at $140! I was brought the wrong wine and over charged $63! Please refund my $63!!!
Amazing meal! I’ve lived in San Francisco 27 years and it’s the best seafood I’ve ever had!
The food was amazing. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Beautiful room, attentive service, creative cooking. But some spices and sauces overpowered the food.
The intelligence displayed in the vegetables made us proud. If one restaurant said SF now, this is it. I will go again.
Food was absolutely amazing. Definitely recommend getting the quail, it’s so flavorful and delicious. The whole dining experience is well planned and the family style is amazing since you get to experience more food options. Would come back and would recommend.
Incredible dinner experience
Outstanding service, great food, but...$300 a person for a tasting menu that is mostly vegetables. Like cmon...most of these ingredients you can find at Whole Foods and prepare yourself. Nothing really mind-blowing and I can only imagine this restaurant has INSANE margins given the ingredients. I won’t be returning, rather would spend $300 on an Omakase with luxurious ingredients that leaves me full.
It was very good like usual. I was a little disappointed that they took the New Orlean off the dessert menus and hoping they will put it back on in the future
amazing flavors, good portion size, and very creative. perhaps only one dish fell short, out of many. a bit of an overbooking issue forced us to wait 1/2 hour, followed by a mistake that resulted in our table being given to others, but that made us go to the bar where we had some pretty darn amazing mixed cocktails.
great place, deserving of the michelin star.
Service was poorly coordinated and not what we would expect for a one Michelin. Food was excellent.
Great space and super concept, everything is cooked over an open flame! Beautiful open kitchen. Service is spot on, gorgeous view.
Good not great. Service was great. Food was good. Dungeness crab was better than the lobster. Have to say that the music was terrible and distracting. Additionally, the stuffed fish around the perimeter walls seem really tacky.
Food was staged and took to long. The food was just ok but the restaurant is very nice. Lobster, did not have much flavor, other dishes were just ok, no wow factor.
Many timing lapses with our waiter. Brought wrong cocktails. Waited 20 minutes for cocktails. Told us of how our sequencing of our meal would arrive and then totally the opposite. Overall a very expensive dinner for good food and mediocre service. With all the service personnel that were there nobody was orchestrating the flow and timing over staffed and under performed
Music way too loud
Wine glass smelled like soap. Please smell test wine glasses before serving them to customers
Food was good and original. Fried quail was a bit of a miss, but it is good that the chef experiments.
Prices a little high
My husband has a severe peanut allergy and we let our server know. He ended up having an allergic reaction. When he called to discuss the matter of possible cross contamination, the manager never called him back.
Great experience overall! Got an excellent view of Bay Bridge as per request. Food is top notch. Fresh and healthy menu items! Service was very attentive.
It was great. Exactly what I wanted. You pay for what you get and Angler is on the more expensive side. But 100% worth it! I would go there weekly if I could.
Was expecting to have a "wow" on each of the dishes, unfortunately several were just "OK". The fire fly squid and blow fish tails did nothing for me. Rather bland and did not make me want another bite. The blow fish tails were tough and dry.
Hen of the forest mushrooms were wonderful, urchin and desserts were well done
Best service I have ever experienced in a restaurant.
Staff very sensitive to my food allergies. But due to them I was unable to have the full food experience.
Given wonderful table.
Angler was easily one of the best dining experiences we've had in a long time. The service was impeccable (and everything you'd expect from a Saison-group restaurant). The food, while it all looked simply executed, was executed perfectly and the flavors were so well-balanced. We will absolutely be back.
The food was very good - particularly the potatoes, scallops and mandarin creamsicle sorbet. I thought the grilled sea bass was a bit underwhelming. But the atmosphere and service were really fantastic!
The view is amazing, service beyond expectations and the food is something to experience. Overall one of the best restaurants in California if not the United States in my opinion.
Came here to celebrate my birthday with my family... I received no song, no complimentary small dessert or drinks... kind of disappointed. Felt that I should’ve celebrate at other Michelin restaurants.
Oh man. Second time at Angler and it fully lived up to my memory of it from the first time. Food was SO GOOD, service very thoughtful, presentation and serving excellent, playlist killer.
Food was great but service was OK. Took almost 30 min for waiter to come ask for our order and seemed to be very smug. Overall would still recommend.
This is my new favorite restaurant in SF. The food was absolutely outstanding. They have a great wine selection. The restaurant is beautiful. And the service was top notch.
We had a guest from out of town and it was her first visit to San Francisco. We had eaten at Angler once before and thought Angler, waterfront, delicious menu, quality wine list and "on point service". Let's do this.
Menu: Opted for "we cook for you" which was a family-style tasting menu and actually loved the selection of plates, tastes, and variety.
Service: It started with great enthusiasm. Then it fell off rather sharply. The first course came, the second course showed up and we still had not seen (though we asked) the wine manager for a recommendation. grrr
My wife and I asked for still water and water with gas poured. Dirty plates sat on the table way too long. Clean plates after each tasting were typically brought but not all the time. My wife asked, on two occasions, for a clean plate so as not to mix the sauce from one dish with the next. One dinner napkin was soiled after eating a delicious radicchio salad. I carefully placed it on the table figuring one of the many servers would notice and take it away. Not the case. Dishes were modestly explained but I would think there would be an explanation about each dish, each sauce with the same level of detail as those who prepared the dish would both want and expect.
Wine: Here it gets a bit interesting. We are well into the second course and the wine manager does show. We asked them to make a selection. I honestly got the impression they had never recommended a wine before. I know this can't be the case but there was more than one awkward moment. Ultimately we ended with a very nice wine but given we had no preference other than pair it to our menu - bottle, half bottles, by the glass, red, white you choose it just seemed way too difficult. And once the bottle was finished, and we had a lovely roasted chicken waiting to be consumed, we never saw the wine manager again. I had to signal for the waiter more than once.
Angler: Do better, please.
Superb food and beautiful views. Great service. Definitely worth it!
Great experience. Ambiance is very nice . Great people watching. The food was interesting and excellent without being off putting . It was expensive particularly the wine list. I don’t love when everything is a la carte but again the selections were different and delicious. Presentation was beautiful although at that price point I think they could put the silverware out at each place vs setting a bucket of silverware on our table. Overall great food, great ambiance, great service .
Excellent delicious options for vegetarians on this menu!
We had a wonderful date lunch at Angler on a Saturday. The Dungeness crab was excellent! The radicchio salad was an experience! Service and ambience was super. Great 80s music soundtrack made it even better!
I credible dining experience!!!
Exceptional Food and Service
Fantastic food and drinks. Friendly staff went out of their way to acknowledge our anniversary. View of the bay bridge was a wonderful touch. Had the fried quail and sea bass and both were excellent.
We visited celebrating our wedding anniversary.
Sparkling wine at introduction was complimentary!
Splurged on caviar, whole sea urchin and oysters as appetizers, grilled swordfish and scallops as main dishes. They were all delucious.
Side orders of vegetables were not impressive. Grilled mushrooms was smoky in flavor and taste reminded me of Cholula sauce.
Found out later from a friend that Angler’s chicken is a must try dish. But I don’t know if I can visit any time soon to afford a $600 dinner for two.
I love Angler, the food is unique and delicious and beautifully presented. Our server gave us very good suggestions- like the tip to wear a bib for the radicchio salad- definitely a good idea, it saved my blouse! Overall lovely dinner!
