About Angelini Osteria
Known for manning the stoves at high-end restaurants Rex and Vincenti, Chef Gino Angelini is dishing out quality Italian fare at his own place. Even the most been-there-ate-that gourmand will savor the simple, yet sublime starters, from the paper-thin pizzas to the steamed mussels and clams bathing in a garlic-infused broth. Nonna Elvira's green lasagna is a dozen layers of bliss with blankets of pasta enveloping a mild cheese. Continue with a deliciously soft, moist branzino (salt-encrusted sea bass), or a pork chop sided with braised red cabbage. Desserts deserve special attention, such as a buttery mascarpone, or a scoop of vanilla gelato with a shot of steaming espresso.

Gino Angelini brought true and truly great & authentic Italian cuisine to Los Angeles and too many years to count later, he is still the Deacon of Italian cooking in LA and this restaurant still stands tall and above the other 1st rate Italian restaurants in LA. For this 3 hour lunch the 4 of us had 2 wonderful antipasti...grilled calamari; frito misto; 2 terrific pastas including an amazing uni tagliatelle; 4 great mains, whole branzino & Dove sole; veal chop milanese & lamb chops all done with Gino still in the kitchen overseeing the cooking. Combine this with a terrific but compact wine list that runes from great champagne to a host of great Italian whites & reds. As good as it's ever been and it's been great forever. Make your reservation, go and enjoy.
Excellent food - we ordered the swordfish carpaccio and beef tartare for appetizers. We shared the homemade spaghettI Chitarra alla Norcina with a generous amount of black truffles shaved in front of us. Even the complimentary soup and pasta (?) salad were very delicious. Great service too! The servers made us feel welcome. Highly recommend this place.
I had not been in about a year so was excited to take a new co-worker. She had heard about the restaurant, had always wanted to go but need to go with a foodie (me). She had lived in Italy for years and wanted an authentic experience. She got that an more - Awesome
The food is always good, but this was my first time here for a business lunch. The service rushed us so much we wondered if they were trying to turn the table over in time for a second lunch in our place. Given our 12:30pm reservation time there was very little chance of someone else taking our table for a late lunch mid-week. So I'm left not really understanding the fast pace at which the waiters tried to take our order and the speed at which our food was delivered. Pacing is important and at least for this one lunch they lost sight of that fact.
It's difficult for us to distinguish between good and excellent Italian food. My wife loved her pasta. My scallops, mushrooms, and balsamic was very good although there was too much sauce (leaving a puddle in the bottom of the bowl).
The staff was very friendly.
They have a very large menu with something for everyone. If we lived in the area, it would be one of our go-to places.
I haven't been to Angelini Osteria in years and now I know that I've truly been missing out. The entire meal was just incredible. The waiter guided us to the best appetizers and entrees - my only regret was that we didn't order more pasta. This may have just become my new favorite restaurant.
Bad table next to the bar! No space! Overpriced lamb chops 3 chops lots of arugula! 45 $!
Beef carpaccio without any dressing, no lemon, no oil!
The pasta with butter and Parmesan cheese was mad without any love!
Tagliolini al Limone not enough flavor, no salt, no fresh pepper no basil!
Waiter not really interested in our opinion about the food!

Grilled squid is excellent, beer burrata salad is quite good, pasta is among the best I have ever had, excellent Italian fare. I am not a big fan of European way of preparing fish; so their branzino tastes bland to me, but similar to fish from other high end European restaurants.
The place was clearly overcrowded, we sat in a hallway, lots of people passing by, full of tables everywhere. food wasn’t that great for the price. Ordered 3 dishes and they were very conventional despite the hype in them. Service was ok, nothing great. We had much higher expectations and it failed to meet them
Superb food, service and atmosphere. One of the few L.A. restaurants that is authentically Italian and where one dish is even more delicious than the next. Now they have an expanded desert menu and adjoining coffee/desert section adjacent to restaurant. Mmm. Overall just superb.
Food was delicious and service was excellent. We sat outside on a gorgeous day which is why I marked the noise level as quiet. (But if you sit inside, I suspect it would be quite loud so don't select this restaurant based on my quiet rating please.)
Their Italian crackers (served in place of bread) is outstanding. We enjoyed a couple of complimentary tasting items - I assume this is what they always do but am not certain about that. It was a lovely touch.
Our waiter had a terrific personality which added to the experience. I recommend this restaurant highly.
Chef Gino Angelini NEVER disappoints!! From the lobster salad, octopus salad (it was "transcendent!!!!"), tuna crostini, green lasagne, bone marrow (a MUST!!), pasta with lemon cream, tagiolini with lamb ragu, everything was cooked to perfection!! Go there for lunch....its less of a hassle than dinner!
