Angeline's is nice, just not that nice. The booth's and tables are just a little bit like a diner and the service is just a little bit like an assembly line. The server wasn't that familiar with the menu and their was no presentation. I felt like I was hustled in and hustled out. I am not a fan of bare dishes on bare tables. For lunch on a weekday, maybe if they had some placemats. It felt more like a hotel coffee shop that served dinner that a hotel restaurant that served breakfast. Walk a few blocks, there are tons of better places.
Great creative chef. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Limited but well curated wine list.
David and the lady that seated us (I can't remember her name), were very nice and did a great job.
We thought the drinks and some of the food was a bit pricey. Some drinks were $15 for a normal sized martini; an appetizer salad, with no meat, was $18.00. Atmosphere was great.
Food flavors were not good. 1 out of 4 people liked their food. 1 was taken off bill and another sent back for replacement. chicken entree flavor was not good. the pasta was dry and no flavor. the 2nd bolognese better but was not liked by our group. one liked the mussels. the Brussels and the polenta were good. nothing was great. to the point we arent going back. they dont even have hand stuffed blue cheese olives for martinis. this was my 3rd time there. shouldnt have tried again. they do change their menu frequently but never a standout meal. the service was great though. server was knowledgable and accommodated our unsatisfactory.
Loved the atmosphere so cozy and the food was delicious!!! Highly recommend before a concert/event!
The food was very good. We had squid ink pasta, parpadelle, and risotto dishes. Everyone really enjoyed the food. The whipped ricotta appetizer was excellent!
I loved this place - I think they’re the first to notice my purpose of visit and went above and beyond for my date
Service and food was excellent! Tons of gluten free options! Only complaint is to be able to get wine by the glass and not have to order the whole bottle. We will be back very soon!
Food took way too long to come to the table. Had one of the worst salads I have ever had in my life. Steak was awful, had to ask waiter for salt(still wasn’t salvageable). Potatoes tasted like plastic. Waaay overpriced for the value. Have had better meals at Olive Garden.
The food and service were excellent. The ambiance is great and we really enjoyed our evening and the meal
Menu was changed - so what is posted online is not correct. Chicken dish used to replace chicken Parmesan dish was extremely dry-no one on the table could or would finish their $25 chicken!
A solid meal with a lot of good menu options. The ricotta cheese starter was fantastic, as was the Italian sausage pizza and the Arancini. A few of the pasta dishes were a little on the salty side, however, especially the pappardele bolognese. Great atmosphere -- lively, but cozy. Very friendly server.
Great experience! As always
We came for brunch and was blown away!!! Service and food were amazing!! We will definitely be back next time we are in Charlotte!!
Very very good!
Great food and service. Also great atmosphere and decor
Enjoyable valentine dinner. Food was very good. Only issue was felt rushed during meal. There didn’t appear to be a line waiting to get in, so didn’t understand why we were being moved along!
Disappointed that with an OpenTable reservation at 1:00-1:30 in the afternoon with other tables open in the main restaurant that we were seated in the bar area. No reason for this.
Woman in the front who greeted us was a firecracker. Awesome lady. Waiter was passionate about his role. Great knowledge of all the plates.
We really enjoyed our meal and the experience in general. The restaurant has a nice bar as you enter, some booths next to the bar and a sunken main dining room just beyond. The kitche is open and is on one side of the dining room. Opposite the kitchen are very tall windows that give the restaurant a very open feeling.
I gave 4 stars on service only because the soup of the day was quoted incorrectly and our particular waiter seemed to have a large table he was waiting on at the same time so we occasionally had to wait to get his attention. He was a very nice waiter and gave us good information about the menu.
I don't recall how much noise there was but I don't think it was excessive.
Two of us had Sea Scallops with Squid Ink Pasta --- it was delicious. Highly recommend it. We will definitely be back. A meal for two adults and two teens with two glasses of wine and two cocktails (for the adults only :-) ) came to just over $200 without a tip. Parking was very easy. You pull into the hotel driveway and leave your car with the valet. Parking was $10.
Great atmosphere with great food, albeit a bit salty. Service is top notch too.
Loved this restaurant! They have done a beautiful job of baffling noise and the decor is well done! Most importantly the food is amazing and service impeccable
Our server (David) was very friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. Our appetizers were great, and I really recommend the whipped ricotta. The Ciopino is very delicious and he scallops are sizable and cooked perfectly. However, my colleague did not enjoy the ribeye, especially for price. A $40 ribeye shouldn’t have a knockoff A1 steak sauce already on top of it. Overall, the ambiance and service elevated the experience!
Once again Angeline's delivered a wonderful dining experience. One of the best wine selections in Uptown area. One of our favorite places to dine.
Been wanting to try this place for so long and I finally got the chance to go with a friend last Friday evening around 5:15pm. We had a reservation for 2 and were the only customers in the restaurant besides 2 others in the bar area. They stuck us right by the kitchen which would usually be fun but all the other tables were open - so dissatisfied with seat because the staff was basically just standing right next to us chatting - felt awkward.
Other disappointing things; low health grade score, dirty wine glass (lipstick), martini was okay(?), featured soup was so bad we didn’t finish even half - salt and pepper at table didn’t help (positive - they removed from the bill without asking), Caesar Salad was swimming in dressing and cheese (croutons were just stale) we had that remade, very bright lighting atmosphere, music too soft (we had to whisper or the entire staff would hear our conversations).
Staff was friendly! But won’t be trying this again.
Best part of the meal was the free appetizer.
Great place! Mussels are the best I've had in Charlotte.
Great convenient place for a quick business lunch in Uptowm
We had a wonderful time at Angeline’s. Everything, from the service and the ambience, to the drinks and the food, was outstanding! Our server, David, was very knowledgeable about the menu and incredibly friendly and helpful! The food was excellent and the ambience was relaxed and beautiful. We had a great time and will definitely be returning!
BEST SERVICE IN ALL OF CHARLOTTE! from the front door, she said "Welcome Mr. L" and it got better from there! food. - wow
service - unbelievably wonderful
Went to Angeline's with some friends to celebrate a birthday. The food, cocktails, and wine were excellent. I had the lamb rigati and tried some of the other dishes, all good. Our waiter had great food and wine recommendations. My only complaint was that the noise level is high.
Girls night out and it was awesome! Food was fantastic and service was perfect! Yummy drinks, appetizers, salads and entrees all around. Didn’t try dessert but looked delicious, will have to save room next time. Our server was helpful and made multiple suggestions that were all appreciated and 100% accurate for what we were looking for!
Took 2 visitors to Angeline's for lunch. The good was great, the service was great, and my guests and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal.
This was my first time here for brunch and it was great. I've been for dinner and drinks before and couldn't wait to come back. I love Angeline's, the interior is nice and bright, the details in the ceramic dishes are a nice touch, and of course, the food is amazing. The only downfall to our brunch was that the service was very, very slow. We'll definitely be back as it is one of our favorite restaurants.
Salad was excellent. Bolognese pasta dish was so salty that the taste of the sauce was overwhelmed by the salt. When we told our server, he relayed that information to the chef and we were subsequently comped a dessert.
I made a reservation for a friends birthday celebration. When we arrived the hostess was very sweet and she sat us at a hightop table that was in a nice spot away from a lot of the crowd. She stated that she was aware we were there for a birthday and she made mention that they would do something special for the birthday girl. Our waitress was not rude, but she was not very attentive and she seemed bothered when we asked for more dressing and water refills. When one of our dining companions ordered the butterscotch dessert, which he had enjoyed on a previous visit, the waitress literally said, "ewe, that's too sweet". I felt the portions for lunch were small, which was surprising because their dinner portions are quite large, and although some of us ordered the same items, the sizes were very inconsistent. My side beet salad was much bigger than my friends. In the end they didn't acknowledge my friends birthday at all, which is fine as I wasn't expecting them to, but since the hostess had made mention in front of the birthday girl it was a little awkward. I think the food was very tasty, but the experience was less than excellent. I will go back and try for a third time before I make a final judgement.
Perfect For business dinner
Our server was very knowledgeable about all the dishes & wines. Our food was absolutely fabulous!!
Great atmosphere and food. Service was a friendly but not over bearing. On the high end of price for upscale casual but definitely a good experience. I will be back.
