We prefer the bar menu to the dining room.
Try the deep fried Truffled Deviled Eggs with caviar- no what you would expect! Quite delicious!
Dining room portions are ok, but pricey. The cheese plate had 3 perfect sized good quality cheese selections but was stingy on the accompanying bread, dates, fruit and nuts. The bright green tinged (herb) breadcrumbs topping the Cassoulet Duck Confit were an unfortunate color choice. Wine is is limited to more expensive wines. It’s Napa....there should be more than a few moderate priced wines by the bottle.
Bartenders are professional and they craft a perfect cocktail. Hosts were friendly and welcoming.
This place was fabulous. Great food and great atmosphere.
We arrived and we’re seated immediately. The wait staff was very attentive and had great recommendations. The food was perfect. I can’t wait to come back. Perfect execution
Deviled eggs are an absolute must try, what an exceptional recipe. Salads and veggies are extremely fresh , you can't leave this place without trying the pot du creme - absolutely wonderful cooking and a beautiful location for a restaurant . On the pricey side but worth it.
Gracious service from beginning to end. The food was delicious, seasonal and well presented. Wonderful wine list that combines old and knew while the tongue -in-cheek cocktail menu amuses. Don’t miss this local treasure.
A new favorite. Very warm, welcoming, and positive staff in an artistic setting. Service was exceptional.
Excellent food. Small dining atmosphere. Good service.
Angele is a personal favorite. Whether the beautiful indoor space or the great Npa River terrace on a beautiful day or night, Angele offers terrific bistro Wine Country French in a great setting. Start with a terrific cocktail or choose from a deep selection of Napa and French wines, then enjoy an excellent French Onion soup, a country pate, warm fresh bread accompqanies escargot or mussels. On to an always great variety of seasonal mains followed by a superb dessert selection. From the greeting at the front desk through the checkm service is always friendly, informed and professional. Angele is a Napa gem.
Loved our cheese plate with 3 french cheeses that included toasts, fruit & nuts and, our Beef Bourg. was simply amazing.
However, the green salad was so ridiculous.....Just lettuces with a nothing dressing.
We love the restaurant though!
My wife and I were disappointed. It started when we arrived. Even though I had made a reservation, and even though there was seating in the main dining area, the hostess brought us to the bar section of the restaurant. When I inquired about sitting at an open table in the dining area, the hostess advised those seats were not available. And yet, while we dined, no one arrived to take either of the two open tables. So, I thought, perhaps we couldn't have one of the open dining area tables because they seat 4, and we were only 2. Imagine my surprise when, as the evening progressed, two different parties of two arrived, and guess what: they each were seated at the open tables-for-four. This is not good customer service. Escargots were meh. Trout was excellent, but way too much butter and sauce. Our waiter Francisco was da bomb.
Classy spot. Classy without being formal. Not casual, comfortable.
Great way to end a day at the winery
Food is always amazing and service top notch ...highly recommend
very enjoyable, super crowded the night we were there.
Disappointing experience at one of our favorite restaurants. We were seated outside on a cold breezy night after asking for an inside table. There are lots of heaters on the patio but they could not keep up with the cold wind. There are sides they could have lowered but they had diners seated beyond them. They should have opted to fill less tables. We will wait for summer to return.
Food is excellent. They messed up the timing of our food and drink but took care of it with great service. A fantastic restaurant.
Excellent food; excellent service; beautiful setting. Could turn down the volume on the recorded music, which did not fit with the ambiance or the prices.
Our group of 4 all had excellent meals -
Tried the bone marrow appetizer - 1st experience for 2 of us - delicious!
Fish was tender and juicy -
Chocolate dessert was amazing!!
Our server really added to our experience!
Great service, we always had someone making sure we were enjoying our dinner. The pasta with truffles was amazing, The New York juicy and tender. We will come back and recommend the restaurant to our friends.
We had classics and they were killer! Cassoulet was a bowlful of love - perfectly cooked white beans with duck leg, boudin blanc, garlic and herbs - a smash hit. Boeuf bourguignon came out deep, dark and caramelized; it tasted like they reduced a barrel of pinot noir down to a quart to make that sauce!
Their wine list is always an adventure as well, showing off local, small-production wines as well as their French counterparts. We started with oysters (oh so fresh!) with lovely mignonette which paired perfectly with the cremant de loire bubbly! For the mains we had the Whetstone Jonboat pinot noir which, with the cassoulet in particular was astonishing.
Do not miss Angele'
We had Valentines dinner here. Dinner was fabulous! Appetizers (escargot) were so yummy, an incredible green , parsley, garlicky sauce. The French onion soup was absolutely loaded. The mushroom risotto & trout almandine were great. The wine prices were very reasonable. Service was special & location was beautiful, walkable & right on the riverfront.
Nice place great food, but the music in this place is all overwhelming it was like all over the place
Valentine's Day was very classic French- so good with the Champagne we ordered. We decided to try two half bottles instead of just a single bubbly. Super fun, and the mussels and pappardalle with truffles were lovely with the bubbly. Happy couple here! :)
Our first visit and definitely will not be our last! My husband had the sole. It was so delicate and delicious. I had the steak and it was cooked perfectly. Can’t wait to go back.
One of our favorite destinations to take friends or for special occasions. Good food, friendly staff and nice atmosphere!
The food and service were average, not bad but not necessarily unique or above and beyond. The restaurant was pretty noisy and my wife and I felt a little rushed with a waiter that was not very attentive. Overall a 3/5, not sure we would go back.
Another superlative dining experience at our favorite restaurant in Napa 5 years running. Every morsel is not only carefully considered, but immensely enjoyed. Fine food that is hearty and not 'precious'. You leave with a full belly and at your leisure. This is a restaurant that appreciates its patrons.
A++++ 5 STARS
Burger was over cooked and dry. Craft beer was old, not fresh. Other dishes were good.
Always an excellent meal, great location, good service, good menu. Solid restaurant. One of our “must visits” when we’re in Napa.
Loved the pappardelle with black truffles!! Steak tartare is always a favorite.
The service we had was outstanding. The food was good, but not worth the price. Watch out for the wine list. It shows two prices. We assumed by the glass and by the bottle. It is actually by the glass and by carafe (half bottle). We picked a nice red wine that was $38. When we got the bill it was $76. When I asked the waiter about he he informed me that the wine list price was for a carafe. To say the least I was annoyed. For the meal we had 4 appetizers, one desert we shared, and a bottle of wine. The bill was over $300. The next night we had dinner at The Waterboy in Sacramento with another couple. We had 3 appetizers, 4 meals, 3 deserts, and a bottle of wine. The meal was just over $300 and the food was fantastic! I’ll drive to Sac before coming here again.
Fabulous foie gras plate, amazing sweetbread dish
Lovely friendly place to visit/eat
Lovely time at Angèle for our family birthday dinner. The service and food was amazing.
Our second time at this restaurant. The food is excellent; for the second time we enjoyed the Boe uf Bourguignon which was excellent. We also enjoyed the Emmer Roasted Chicken-a very good dish but , we thought it overpriced at 45$. The Baby Garden Lettuce salad was delicious as was the Roasted Baby Beet salad. We had an extraordinary Zinfandel from the Napa Valley-2012 Brown Family Rosemary's Block; one of the best Zins I have ever had. Highly recommend this restaurant although pricing is a little high.
Rather bad and disappointing. OK if unremarkable appetizers (country pate and sweetbreads), one good main (beef bourgignon), one terrible main (duck cassoulet, with duck hard as a hockey puck). Amateur service too. We bring a bottle of (very red!) 2000 Left Bank Bordeaux, and they give us tiny white wine glasses, which they then full to the brink? In Napa? Really? We could see from afar that they had appropriate glassware in the bar.
Oh, and the music they play. Boy oh boy. Julio Iglesias was their most contemporary selection. Bizarre experience. I have no idea why this place has good reviews.
Bad food, bad service, horrible ambiance (unless you are into Julio Iglesias, Eros Ramazzotti, and related gems... and of course nothing says French bistro more than Julio Iglesias).
Angele is one of our favorite NAPA Restaurants. It’s fabulous in every way.
This was our first time at Angele. We both had salad that were delicious. The decor and cuisine is authentic French country-style. A great place for lunch or dinner.
Once again, great food and warm and cozy on a raw January afternoon. Can't wait 'til warm weather and patio seating!
A true Napa Valley institution, Angele has been around for 15 years and consistently delivering one of the best dining experiences in Napa. Amazing French cuisine, seasonally inspired and prepared to perfection, it is a neighborhood gem catering to locals and tourists alike. The service is simply outstanding with a highly trained and professional wait staff, the ambiance is top notch, reminiscent of a cozy French countryside bistro. The location is fantastic, right on the Napa river, close to Napa's hotels with ample easy parking options. Cannot recommend enough!
Always special, we started with oysters, then the wonderful sweetbread appetizer, followed by
the sole, which was excellent, and my husband had the "chicken salad", which was recommended by Javier. He usually loves the steak frites, and the salad with farro and greens was interesting, but he will get the steak when we return again. We tried all flavors of the homemade ice cream, which were fantastic, and the spiced caramel ice cream was over the top.
We always love the atmosphere of a French countryside inn , with the charming little
olive tree plants on the tables and and the view of the river through the French blue window frames.
Angele was a little more expensive than we normally are comfortable with, but the food was excellent and delivered to our table in a surprisingly short amount of time. The restaurant is on the waterfront, but in late January, we were inside, so we wouldn't have noticed this if we hadn't seen it on a map.
