Angel Oak at The Ritz-Carlton Bacara, Santa Barbara
Accompanying the cuisine is an ambiance of pure scenic beauty, with floor-to-ceiling ocean views and a striking 25-seat bar topped with vibrant blue Amazonite quartz. Seating on the outdoor patio is also offered, showcasing some of the most captivating sunsets over the Pacific.
Complementing the Angel Oak dining experience is a premier cocktail program and exclusive wine cellar that houses the restaurant's 12,000-bottle collection.
This restaurant is beyond amazing from start to finish. Our server (Jen) was OUTSTANDING. The service from everyone, the quality , fresh food, the amazing presentation of the food, the martinis and the Baked Alaska were ridiculously decadent. Whenever we are in Santa Barbara again we will be back. Pricey - but for a reason. The ocean views are beautiful from almost every table.
The upscale restaurant seemed like the perfect place for a date night while staying on site at the Ritz, but unfortunately a table near ours had two people that continuously played loud videos on their cell phones during the meal. It was so disturbing and awkward that management did not address it. We asked to be moved to another table and we were, but several other patrons had to suffer through the loud and obnoxious diners. I felt like management could have handled the situation much better by asking the loud couple to turn their phone volumes down. The food was good and otherwise I had no complaints about the service or atmosphere at the restaurant.
Best overall experience!
We enjoyed our food and service.
Ambiance was very nice
The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Let us take our time ordering and not rush us through dinner. We had the house salad which was surprisingly good. My daughter orders brussel sprouts at every restaurant we go to and raved about these. I had the Abalone and it was tasty and tender. My wife had the scallops also well cooked and presented. The steak filets were tasty and cooked exactly medium as my daughters preferred. The ambiance, especially the view, added to the experience. We got some great photos as the sun was setting on an overcast day.
Restaurant decorations are beautiful. Great service, and our steaks and mash potatoes were excellent.. Highly recommend.
Angel Oak is a beautiful restaurant connected to the Ritz-Carlton Bacara. It seems to be staffed by a well-meaning, but young staff who are somewhat awkward to interact with. The menu is fantastic; the tuna and salmon tare tare and the steak entrees were delicious. The wine selection is comprehensive, but expect to pay 200% or even 300% markup from standard prices. Overall the experience was positive, and there are some gems on the menu.
We were celebrating two birthdays. The staff greeted us and were aware of the birthdays. The food was delicious and well prepared and presented. The ambiance was delightful overlooking the ocean. The service was impeccable. A great dining experience.
Angel Oak was a bit disappointing for a special event dinner. The dining room was very noisy for the first hour or so due to a large party in an adjoining room (quieted down later). My steak was good but not outstanding. The servers were pleasant but seemed inexperienced. All in all, fine--but I think we'll look for a new venue for next year.
Lovely view. Tables were set like a cafeteria. Would have been nice to have a table cloth considering price point, service and setting. Really took away from the experience.
It was great
We went for Sunday Brunch. Food was very good. There is no children’s menu but they were accommodating with splitting entree’s.
We had relax time by the ocsion while enjoy our food and🍸👍❤
The server upsold us on everything which is brutal because we maybe ate half. The beet salad was easily for two people and not a starter size. A good server tells you how big the portions and sides are.
We have eaten here numerous times and always enjoy ourselves. It was an overcast day so we ate inside. The space was square in size with about 9 tables either four tops or deuces. We were a four top. I wish there was a way to deal with inconsiderate cell phone users. One women received a call and had it on speakerphone the whole time (approx. 10 minutes), finally it ended than she received another call also on speakerphone. We all could hear her response and her phone callers voice and laughter, so annoying. It was ruining my time at dinner and I assume the closer table mates than us. No one said anything, surrounding tables or servers, staff, etc.. I finally past by her on the way to the ladies room and made my annoyance clear to her. I admit I could have been more tactful however when I returned to my table she was off the phone.
Please everyone consider your other restaurant people, out for a nice dinner and take your call outside, especially if you need speakerphone to your ear to hear the caller. Remember we can hear the whole exchange and to me that is a rude thing to do.
I think restaurants should have a sign when entering about please be considerate while on the cellphone. It happens everywhere but when in an upscale wonderful restaurant I think many are out for a quite romantic evening particularly at this restaurant with the sunset views.
We will definitely return, we love Angel Oak. Great service, staff and food.
Jmicheal and his team were outstanding and did not miss any touch points in service standards. The guidance and recommendations on the menu were very suited to our tastes. The himachi crudo was exceptional, the Rib Eye marbly but not too fatty and the salad perfection.
The Angel Oak experience was exceptional, just like everything else at the Ritz-Carlton Bacara.
Lovely statehouse on Ritz property
Amazing service and personality to the whole experience. Amazing food and ambience. Went back a second time and it was even better. One of our faves in Santa Barbara.
I remember going to this restaurant in its first iteration at Miro around 15 years ago. This iteration as Angel Oak is even better. We sat at the bar for a bit waiting for our friends, and a couple staff came by to talk with us, which was really nice. Made it feel very personal. For dinner, our steak was cooked exactly as we asked (rare), and they even split a Porterhouse onto two plates. The wine list is great, including the options for wine by the glass. Our server Elsa was delightful and extremely competent. The house-baked dinner rolls are to die for. The Baked Alaska was unique and delicious. We're not in the Santa Barbara area often, but we try to make it to Bacara Resort (now a Ritz-Carlton) when we're there for the spa and a meal. It's absolutely worth the 20-minute drive north of downtown.
Excellent staff. Great food.
Great location and food. Would visit again!
I love the sea bass. I’ve had this dish on two different visits. I also love the crab cake but I don’t like the saffron vanilla sauce on the bottom. The liquid doesn’t compliment a crispy crab cake. This time I ordered it I asked for it without the sauce and it was amazing.
The waiter was very uptight making the evening uncomfortable. Everything else was great.
Service was excellent but the food was only so-so. When servers wiped down the table, they just brushed crumbs onto the floor. The abalone special was hyped up to be amazing and it was just ok.
The patio is much quieter than the restaurant inside. Service was excellent. Food was good but not the best you’ll ever have.
Fantastic restaurant overall!
We ate here 2 nights in a row.
Delicious food. Staff is very accommodating to dietary restrictions. Great service, great view. Dinner was spectacular and brunch was equally fantastic
Amazing food and service. We had a wonderful time
Our evening at the Angel Oak was outstanding from start to finish. From the valet to the lovely young woman who greeted us in the lobby of the Bacara and escorted us to the Angel Oak, we knew this was going to be a lovely experience. We were early to our reservation time so we sat at the bar and had a nice chat with the bartender who mixed me a great Kir Royale! Everyone from our server, Elsa to Spencer who brought out our food and the busser who always made sure our table was clean, we couldn't have had a better experience. Our meal was mouth-watering, flavorful and worth every penny and the beautiful view from our table only added to the experience. We were there to celebrate our 38th Anniversary and we left with a lovely card and a white rose from the staff. Thanks to all for making our special day so memorable! Bill and Linda
Everything was absolutely delicious.
From the service to the view to the food everything was spectacular. Waitstaff, hostess, Maitre D, all took the time to know our names and everyone (including waitstaff that was not ours) wished us a happy anniversary. The brussel sprouts were the best I have ever had. Can’t recommend this enough.
Very expensive but we knew that going in. When you assess the value for the meal it was not there. We dined at other restaurants where we enjoyed more.
We went here for a 20th anniversary and timed it perfectly with the sunset. The staff was amazing brought us white roses to celebrate and was very patient with us as we went out to the bluff to take pictures by the sunset. The food and the service was absolutely fantastic and I would highly recommend this to anyone especially for a special occasion. We had filet mignon asparagus and the risotto which all tasted incredible. For dessert we had the profiterole and the chocolate and ice cream was very memorable and delicious.
The staff, under the direction of the general manager Dillon, was very attentive but not overbearing. The sommelier, Richard, was extremely helpful at selecting a versatile wine that paired nicely with both seafood and steak. Lastly, the Steak was prepared just right and was nicely seasoned and the chilled seafood was very fresh.
Great service!! I would definitely going back in my next vacation again
Just so attentive making you feel special. Food excellent.
Hostess was slightly rude, but other than that great place!
Great setting. Great service. Great food. Great big bill!!!
Great service and excellent food! Definitely get the house specialty!
We arrived on time for our reservation and inspire of many open tables we were asked to wait. After waiting 10 minutes we were escorted to a table in the middle of a traffic area. We proceeded to wait another 15-20 minuted and finally had to ask for water, waited another 15 minutes before we asked someone (not our server) to please take our order. The service was absolutely terrible!!! This horrible service continued throughout the entire evening. Our server came to our table as we were eating our salads to introduce herself and we didn't see her again until we were finished with our dinner and asked about dessert. Very disappointing service.
