Angel Oak at the Ritz-Carlton Bacara, Santa Barbara
Accompanying the cuisine is an ambiance of pure scenic beauty, with floor-to-ceiling ocean views and a striking 25-seat bar topped with vibrant blue Amazonite quartz. Seating on the outdoor patio is also offered, showcasing some of the most captivating sunsets over the Pacific.
Complementing the Angel Oak dining experience is a premier cocktail program and exclusive wine cellar that houses the restaurant's 12,000-bottle collection.
This place is top notch - best grass fed fillet I’ve had for a long time, cooked to perfection. Only drawbacks are the price and hotel guests with tottlers screaming at dinner after 8pm. This is a fine dining environment, but some guests think it appropriate to bring kids and show up in t-shirts.
Disappointed with seating. Requested outdoor seating at another side of the restaurant and was unaware of not getting my request met until getting to the restaurant.
Spectacular in every respect - service, food, ambiance.
Disappointing, comparing Mastro’s and there really is zero comparison. Nice view of ocean but food not
The food was excellent, every plate was an experience. Our server Eli made our evening. He was insightful and engaging. The view was perfect.
From the food to the service the dining experience was amazing. We were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and could not have asked for a better time. Would definitely come back again.
Everything was top notch. Location, service, drinks and food. All fantastic. Really impressed with the entire evening, keep it up!
Outstanding service (by Eli and team). Food was terrific and the ambience was great. We will definitely be back for special occasions and we will do our best to spread the word to our Santa Barbara friends.
Lousy service. Told us we couldn’t move the reservation up a half hour and when we got there plenty of tables were open. Our waitress although very nice has no experience working in a restaurant like this. We sat at the table for almost 20 minutes before anyone took our drink order. We mentioned it to management and they did all they could to make things better but those issues shouldn’t happen at a Ritz steakhouse.
One of the best restaurants we've been to, everything was perfect from the drinks to the food and the overall service from all the staff....outstanding experience.
Everything was perfect! Great waiter(Eli). Great support staff, fabulous food and atmosphere. We are taking our daughter here at the end of the month before she moves. We have recommended the place to several people already.
We had beautiful scenery and a beautiful meal, would definitely recommend for a special occasion!
It was one of my best dining experiences in Santa Barbara. The service/ambiance was perfect, scenic , and romantic. We were celebrating our anniversary and were surprised with a Baked Alaska dessert!
I was disappointed in the food and portions . The service “ a new server” on her first night was great . The lobster tail with my steak $20 was smaller then the shrimp served in the seafood tower . We had been at the location the night before for a large event and everything was amazing. Hopefully it was just a bad night
Great food, specular view but the service was not that impressive. Definitely worth checking out if you're in Santa Barbara. The ribeye with seared foie gras was my favorite!
Waitress (Carly) was sweet and effective both, GM Maureen was lovely and Somm Richard rocked! Wine cellar tour capped a perfect anniversary dinner and celebration!
Liked the food. Perhaps the best spot at the Ritz Santa Barbara. But it was the service that shines. David and others did a wonderful job to make our dining experience wonderful.
We had a wonderful dinner celebrating our son's graduation from UCSB. A beautiful restaurant in a beautiful hotel. Wonderful attention to detail, just enough attention from the staff without being a nuisance.
My husband and I arrived early to have a glass of wine by the water prior to dinner. The pours are generous.
The food was wonderful...absolutely loved the French Onion Soup and my filet was tender and cooked perfectly. Our sons enjoyed their dinners too...finished every bite. We definitely recommend Angel Oak, and we look forward to visit again.
Great food, setting and waiter. Arrived on time for 6 pm reservation, place was empty. Hostess told us it would be 10 minutes before our table was ready?? Asked why since the place was empty. No explanation. Waited 20 minutes while other people were seated that came in after us?? Rude beyond explanation. Finally seated. Can't stand the pretentiousness of the staff. David was down to earth and excellent waiter but everyone else wasn't. I get that they have high profile customers but this is Santa Barbara. When we asked again why we were made to wait (made us feel like we weren't good enough??) we were told that the hostess had just sat 2 other tables in the waiter's station and they didn't want to overload him. First of all they could have been honest and told us this, second what kind of training did the hostess have that she couldn't have figured out how to make this work. Paid over $350 for 3 people and treated like this? Bacara needs to do some more training if this is how they treat their customers.
We ate an angel oak twice when we stayed at the Bacara. The first night was fantastic service, food was wonderful, generally a wonderful evening. The second time we went (for our anniversary I might add), service was awful. They didn’t bring a wine list. Brought our food before we got our drinks, didn’t split our plates when asked (when they did on Monday). Finally got our wine when the somelliar was introduced, he was great. They tried to make it up to us, but oddly inconsistent.
Service was exceptional. Great place to celebrate a special occasion.
I'm a salt-of-the earth kinda guy, but brought my fiancee here for her last birthday before we get married. She loved it, and I'd give it a solid 4/5. Let's address some things: it was expensive (duh - I don't get why people are stating that. Look at the menu, look at the facility), there were some rather. . . animated children near our table, which wasn't really a problem, just a little more high-energy than we were at the time. I only mention this because you might want to keep in mind where you're seated if a large party of kids on vacation comes in to disturb what you might have wanted to be intimate.
The food was thoughtful and presented well, and fairly tasty, but by no means the best meal I've ever had. I don't often leave reviews, but felt compelled because our server(s) were outstanding. This is coming from someone who spent a significant amount of time working as FOH staff/manager. Attentive at the right times, mindful when we were trying to enjoy each other's company. Carli (Karli?, Carley?) and Ethan did an outstanding job and were very gracious.
My meal: Negroni (3.5/5), (shared) foie gras with crepe (4/5), salmon (4/5), lovely desert that I can't remember the name of (4/5)
Her meal: California Lookout (3/5), Rose Imperial (4/5), (4.5/5) Abalone From Our Neighbor , shared desert.
Best restaurant experience I have ever had.
We had such an amazing time! Everything was perfect
Food and wine were good, very nice steak. The waiters were pushy and served out our diner way too fast, even after we asked them to take it slow. Not quite worth the $320 we payed for a two course diner for two.
I took a 2-day break at Bacara and ate here one of the two nights. I had the 10 oz. filet mignon. While expensive, it’s memorable, with perfect accompanying salad and sides (the creamed spinach is superb) and my dessert, the lemon-strawberry tart was while modestly sized complemented he dinner without stuffing me. I’d go again in a minute.
Our waiter Eli especially made a great recommendation. Try the beet salad. Pricey but great value
Lovely setting but the dining experience fell short. Food was seriously over priced and nothing special.
Everything about this place is amazing! The Kobe beef is seriously to die for. The service is over-the-top, fantastic. Once you go only a couple of times, they remember you and know your name. Wonderful sommelier, wonderful food, wonderful overall.
The atmosphere was very nice but the service was really slow. We ordered a bottle of champagne but after pouring the first glasses our server didn’t come back for almost 30 minutes so we poured the rest for ourselves. When the bottle was gone she never asked if we wanted to order another bottle or a glass. The food and atmosphere were good but the service needs some major fine tuning.
Best service we have had in a long time. Don't change a thing. We felt professionally doted upon.
Food was OK. The ceasar salad needs anchovies and more garlic; the French onion soup was gelatinous; the Kobe beef was outstanding (buttery); the diver scallops were outstanding; the house rolls are superb as is the flavored butter.
The maitre'd was visibly upset that we didn't want to sit outside. It was very cold and windy. There was an entire open area of booths and tables and he told me we could not have a booth and shuttled us around to a crowded part of the restaurant and sat us there. We ordered the seafood tower for four and were disappointed in how small it was at $84z It came with 4 oysters, 4 shrimp, 4 pieces of crab leg, a ketchup sized container of crab ceviche. Seafood was so-so. My medium well steak came out burnt and over done. The baked alaska was cute, but the churros dessert had 4 mini churros in a paper bag. I was not impressed and would not eat here again.
Each dish we had was an experience. As foodies, my guest and I were overwhelmed with happiness to see what the new chef has done with the menu.
Highlights: Bone Marrow
We even received a handwritten card and fresh rose for our celebration.
Thank you Angel Oak for giving foodies a great Goleta option!
Angel Oak is really nice. The staff is knowledgeable and professional, the food is excellent, and the menu has just enough to be interesting. We’ll definitely go back.
My dining experience was exceptional. The service was wonderful, as was the ocean view from the restaurant. My server was very knowledgeable about the menu and suggested the abalone. AMAZING! I couldn't have had a better experience. One of the best meals that I have eaten.
Despite making a reservation a month in advance, stating that it was for a special occasion and considering it was a Monday night, my wife and I were still stuck in a back booth as far away from the ocean view as possible. Our requests to get closer were met with..."It could be more than a thirty minute wait." I admit the restaurant is very pretty, but the food was just weird. The beet salad had sweet whipped cream all over it. It was more of a dessert than a savory. The crab cake was ice cold. Everything else, just okay. But the dessert was just plain awful. After we complained, the waiter admitted it was one of the bad desserts they were phasing out. Wish he had told us that before we ordered it. It was a deconstructed lemon tart. Desserts should not be fancy. Give me a constructed one any time.
David - excellent server
Dillon- came by to check on us and had my husbands jacket sent to dry cleaner when he spilled something on it
Bartenders were amazing
Lots of fun for our daughters birthday-
Attentive service. Food was well presented and very good.
I’ll be back
Beautiful space, incredible view, superb food and the service was wonderful. Foie gras starter was killer. Dry aged NY strip was perfect
We weren’t overwhelmed. The service was spotty and the food was just okay. Also the new design isn’t that spectacular in my opinion.
