Angel Oak at the Ritz-Carlton Bacara, Santa Barbara
Accompanying the cuisine is an ambiance of pure scenic beauty, with floor-to-ceiling ocean views and a striking 25-seat bar topped with vibrant blue Amazonite quartz. Seating on the outdoor patio is also offered, showcasing some of the most captivating sunsets over the Pacific.
Complementing the Angel Oak dining experience is a premier cocktail program and exclusive wine cellar that houses the restaurant's 12,000-bottle collection.
Angel Oak was an experience, Sarah was able to get me a table for two- literally 10 minuets before closing. .I’ve dreamed of having dinner here and it was no disappointment. From the local farms to your dinner plate every bit of my salad was infused with freshness! Seriously the most amazing night!!! Jenn was our server and provided the best service, had wonderful recommendations which included grilled avocado with my salad. TOO DIE FOR!! My husband enjoyed a juicy steak as we glaze upon the evening stars and even some Hollywood Stars! Angel Oak please thank the Chef, Sarah, and Jenn from the bottom of my heart you made my 5th anniversary unforgettable.
Outstanding service and sommelier. You must get the baked Alaska for dessert!
The abalone was dry and over cooked. The famous la plancha octupus was not it was made out to be. Leave the resort. Go fine better food somewhere else.
Wonderful view and fantastic resort.but the food is less than ok.....have a drink in the bar and Uber to Santa Barbara’s great restaurants
THIS is what fine dining should be. The next time we are anywhere near Santa Barbara, we'll return to Angel Oak, without a doubt.
* Promptly seated, a bit before our reservation with a view of the water on the patio.
* Top flight wine list and both the server and sommelier (Richard) knew well. Good thing I brought my own juice or I'd still be perusing it!
* Speaking of servers, Daniel was engaging, personable, knowledgeable and seemed to be a genuinely nice guy.
* From bread to wagyu beef to rack of lamb to sprout sides and a killer chocolate dessert, every course rocked. Appropriate portions and the pacing was perfect.
Mmmm, good. Thanks to all at Angel Oak!
First time at this resort and restaurant. The roasted bone marrow appetizer was delicious and to my surprise my wife was daring enough to try it and actually enjoyed it. We ordered the Bison Rib Eye and 10oz Filet, both were properly cooked as requested and went well with the mushroom side dish; next time I'll skip the mashed potatoes - nothing special there. The service was excellent. The food and beverages here are pricey but not a surprise coming from a restaurant within The Ritz-Carlton resort. I would definitely return for any future special occasion to try some of the other appetizers and main courses.
Coming from New York, and particularly an area that is loaded with steak houses, Angel Oak was a 10 in my book! The bartender/mixologist had a great way with making drinks and had me taste a drink before pouring me a full one. The food came out exactly as we ordered and each dish was more delicious than the next. I had the Bison Sirloin which was our of this world, cooked to perfection. If back in Santa Barbara, we will definitely return to Angel Oak.
The food was sensational. Really beautiful restaurant as well. Highly recommended
Best restaurant in the area, with knowledgeable servers. Every time I’m in Santa Barbara, I make a reservation at this terrific restaurant. Eat outside and make a reservation before sundown. So beautiful!
Not impressed. Nothing more to say. Shocked this is operated at a Ritz-Carlton.
The Alaskan halibut was a bit dry and bland.
Our server was very good
Love this restaurant.Have been here a couple of time and the food is great.Highly recommened.
Requested outdoor seating weeks in advance but told we would have to wait 15 extra minutes to sit outside despite open tables. Wait staff excellent. View probably would have been better outside. Food mediocre: scallops and ny steak. Drink menu online not the same in restaurant. Outrageously priced; not worth it.
Very sexy atmosphere, even as you approach the entrance. The background music reinforces the sexy vibe. The view outside is simply outstanding. We started with the seafood tower which, how can you go wrong with? My boyfriend and I each had a steak - I had the filet and he had the NY strip. Both of them were cooked to perfection! Service was attentive and professional but not overbearing. I proposed to my boyfriend here! Beautiful place.
We loved the fantastic ocean view on the patio, foods are outstanding. We plan on going back soon.
Exceptional food and service
Ordered a bottle of $180 wine which I got to taste - it was then taken away - when we received our main course I asked for it to be served and the wine waiter was no where to be found so ended up having a glass of house wine - We stayed at the Four Seasons - everything about the hotel is in a different league to the Ritz Carlton - poor - avoid
The food was absolutly fabulous. Presentation beautiful. The service was impeccable. The wine list was varied and had several local wines. The view was amazing. We went for my husband's birthday and everyone were came in contact with greeted us by name and wished him happy birthday. I would recommend this restaurant for any special event or date night.
This place is top notch - best grass fed fillet I’ve had for a long time, cooked to perfection. Only drawbacks are the price and hotel guests with tottlers screaming at dinner after 8pm. This is a fine dining environment, but some guests think it appropriate to bring kids and show up in t-shirts.
Disappointed with seating. Requested outdoor seating at another side of the restaurant and was unaware of not getting my request met until getting to the restaurant.
Spectacular in every respect - service, food, ambiance.
Disappointing, comparing Mastro’s and there really is zero comparison. Nice view of ocean but food not
The food was excellent, every plate was an experience. Our server Eli made our evening. He was insightful and engaging. The view was perfect.
From the food to the service the dining experience was amazing. We were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and could not have asked for a better time. Would definitely come back again.
Everything was top notch. Location, service, drinks and food. All fantastic. Really impressed with the entire evening, keep it up!
Outstanding service (by Eli and team). Food was terrific and the ambience was great. We will definitely be back for special occasions and we will do our best to spread the word to our Santa Barbara friends.
Lousy service. Told us we couldn’t move the reservation up a half hour and when we got there plenty of tables were open. Our waitress although very nice has no experience working in a restaurant like this. We sat at the table for almost 20 minutes before anyone took our drink order. We mentioned it to management and they did all they could to make things better but those issues shouldn’t happen at a Ritz steakhouse.
One of the best restaurants we've been to, everything was perfect from the drinks to the food and the overall service from all the staff....outstanding experience.
Everything was perfect! Great waiter(Eli). Great support staff, fabulous food and atmosphere. We are taking our daughter here at the end of the month before she moves. We have recommended the place to several people already.
We had beautiful scenery and a beautiful meal, would definitely recommend for a special occasion!
It was one of my best dining experiences in Santa Barbara. The service/ambiance was perfect, scenic , and romantic. We were celebrating our anniversary and were surprised with a Baked Alaska dessert!
I was disappointed in the food and portions . The service “ a new server” on her first night was great . The lobster tail with my steak $20 was smaller then the shrimp served in the seafood tower . We had been at the location the night before for a large event and everything was amazing. Hopefully it was just a bad night
Great food, specular view but the service was not that impressive. Definitely worth checking out if you're in Santa Barbara. The ribeye with seared foie gras was my favorite!
Waitress (Carly) was sweet and effective both, GM Maureen was lovely and Somm Richard rocked! Wine cellar tour capped a perfect anniversary dinner and celebration!
Liked the food. Perhaps the best spot at the Ritz Santa Barbara. But it was the service that shines. David and others did a wonderful job to make our dining experience wonderful.
We had a wonderful dinner celebrating our son's graduation from UCSB. A beautiful restaurant in a beautiful hotel. Wonderful attention to detail, just enough attention from the staff without being a nuisance.
My husband and I arrived early to have a glass of wine by the water prior to dinner. The pours are generous.
The food was wonderful...absolutely loved the French Onion Soup and my filet was tender and cooked perfectly. Our sons enjoyed their dinners too...finished every bite. We definitely recommend Angel Oak, and we look forward to visit again.
Great food, setting and waiter. Arrived on time for 6 pm reservation, place was empty. Hostess told us it would be 10 minutes before our table was ready?? Asked why since the place was empty. No explanation. Waited 20 minutes while other people were seated that came in after us?? Rude beyond explanation. Finally seated. Can't stand the pretentiousness of the staff. David was down to earth and excellent waiter but everyone else wasn't. I get that they have high profile customers but this is Santa Barbara. When we asked again why we were made to wait (made us feel like we weren't good enough??) we were told that the hostess had just sat 2 other tables in the waiter's station and they didn't want to overload him. First of all they could have been honest and told us this, second what kind of training did the hostess have that she couldn't have figured out how to make this work. Paid over $350 for 3 people and treated like this? Bacara needs to do some more training if this is how they treat their customers.
We ate an angel oak twice when we stayed at the Bacara. The first night was fantastic service, food was wonderful, generally a wonderful evening. The second time we went (for our anniversary I might add), service was awful. They didn’t bring a wine list. Brought our food before we got our drinks, didn’t split our plates when asked (when they did on Monday). Finally got our wine when the somelliar was introduced, he was great. They tried to make it up to us, but oddly inconsistent.
Service was exceptional. Great place to celebrate a special occasion.
I'm a salt-of-the earth kinda guy, but brought my fiancee here for her last birthday before we get married. She loved it, and I'd give it a solid 4/5. Let's address some things: it was expensive (duh - I don't get why people are stating that. Look at the menu, look at the facility), there were some rather. . . animated children near our table, which wasn't really a problem, just a little more high-energy than we were at the time. I only mention this because you might want to keep in mind where you're seated if a large party of kids on vacation comes in to disturb what you might have wanted to be intimate.
The food was thoughtful and presented well, and fairly tasty, but by no means the best meal I've ever had. I don't often leave reviews, but felt compelled because our server(s) were outstanding. This is coming from someone who spent a significant amount of time working as FOH staff/manager. Attentive at the right times, mindful when we were trying to enjoy each other's company. Carli (Karli?, Carley?) and Ethan did an outstanding job and were very gracious.
My meal: Negroni (3.5/5), (shared) foie gras with crepe (4/5), salmon (4/5), lovely desert that I can't remember the name of (4/5)
Her meal: California Lookout (3/5), Rose Imperial (4/5), (4.5/5) Abalone From Our Neighbor , shared desert.
