Everything was phenomenal
Wanted to try something different in the OC. Though the cocktails are really good here, and different from your typical Mexican Restaurant, the food was a let down. Expected to experience some different offerings from your average Mexican selections. The food was good, but not worth the price - because there was not enough and the price did not substantiate quality for the price. I would go back and sit in the bar, maybe order some appetizers, but not go for a meal.
Service was exceedingly slow. But the food and waiter were great.
We have been here several times before, but this time the service was really slow. We all had a cocktail and then ordered a bottle of wine which we waited 20 minutes for. The waiter came back twice after 20 minutes to tell us they didn't have the bottle we wanted. We selected a second, no on that one too. Got to dinner at 6:30 and didn't get out until 9:00 pm. Much too long.
Outstanding! From the complimentary bean dip to the creative cocktails, everything exceeded expectations. We even went back for lunch the next day!
We were over for the NAMM show and took out a client of ours. This is a great restaurant away from the hustle of Anaheim. Highly recommend it to anyone as the food was great, as was the service and value. Will be visiting again next year for sure!
Our first visit was wonderful! The food is all made on the premises including the chips. Everything we tried was delicious, server was attentive and knowledgeable . Good selection of wine and beer. Saw some delicious looking margaritas too. We will be frequenting this restaurant.
How good was Anepalco Restaurant? I went for dinner, lunch and then breakfast, all in one week. Found them by total accident when looking for a place to dine with friends. We almost left when we saw it was at the base of a hotel. Don't be fooled. This place is amazing. True, authentic Mexican food. I loved the food, the service and the ambience. But the food got me to go three times. For dinner I had ARRACHERA which is a hanger steak, chilaquiles, fried egg, cotija, onion, avocado, cilantro. Words cannot describe how good this was. For lunch we tried the tacos Al Pastor and tacos BARBACOA short rib, oaxaca, beans, salsa verde, onion, cilantro. Also amazing.
We wanted to go for breakfast the next day to try that but they didn't open until 11:00 am when we had to be in San Diego so we decided to try their other cafe that is about three miles away. Worth the short drive. The chilaquiles were authentic and again...AMAZING. Pics are attached.
Please try these two places. I live in Seattle and cannot wait to go back to Anaheim just to eat here again. BTW: Service was OUTSTANDING. Servers at both places were personable, made great recommendations and just superb.
The food was authentic and original. The food and service were both terrific. The price was a bit high but consistent with the quality.
Poor service even though we were set up at the front table. No chips with Guac even after asking THREE times. No sides to meals, just slabs of meat. Needed flavoring. Never served appetizer plates with appetizers. The only good job they did was refilling waters.
Horrible. Reserved a table and when I arrived they said they only had bar section and outside seating available. So we had to sit outside in the freezing cold. Food definitely was not worth it.
Food was EXTREMLY salty to the point of being inedible. Service was ok. Will NEVER go back there again
Our dining experience was rather mixed. The loud music almost blasted us out of our seats, but did tone down a bit when the bar crowd arrived, but the bar crowd was louder than the music! My husband and I like a quiet evening of conversation, but this was obviously not the place for conversation. This tiny place was also very crowded as far as tables. The waiter seemed to have a difficult time getting through the small aisle. As far as the food, my husband ordered duck carnitas which he enjoyed very much. I tasted it and it was outstanding! I ordered the ceviche. It was good, but the pieces of octopus, shrimp, and fish were cut up so tiny as to be unrecognizable. I maybe should have ordered the octopus or squid. My husband ordered a glass of the one and only IPA they had. It was not recognizable as an IPA, it was so blah. My glass of red wine was decent. Will we go back? I doubt it, but that Duck Carnitas dish was sure good!!! I suspect there are other inspirational dishes on the menu, as well.
We go to Anepalco frequently for Sunday brunch and it never disappoints! The chilaquiles is the best I've ever had and the margaritas and delicious!! The quesadilla that I ordered recently was spectacular! My husband and I go anytime we crave delicious, upscale Mexican food!
I read that the chilaquiles was one of their signature items we ordered both the Red and Green chile versions. Both were dry and lacked authentic flavor, not impressed at all. The service was friendly, the drinks were good and enjoyed the patio setting. Yes the noise coming from the hospital (medivac) was very loud.
There are many better restaurants that I will continue to go to.
Great food. I always enjoy sitting outside on the patio. Unfortunately, the restaurant is across from UCI Medical Center so there are the occasional ambulance sirens you may have to deal with. Aside from that, the outdoor patio still allows for normal speaking voice conversation. I'm sure the indoor seating is pleasant. The food is delicious. Try the Tortilla Soup and the Chilaquiles.
Wonderful patio for brunch - but it can get quite hot in the summer. Love that they take reservations on Open Table. Some of the best chilequiles I've had in my life. Will definitely be coming back again. Also of note - the guava french toast --- AH-MAZING.
The place was nice, the service was kind and knowledgeable. The food was tasty and sofisticased. It was my first time, sure to go back!

Food was delicious. My only reason for 4 stars vs 5 is the poached egg in the Perdido plate was not poached, it was practically raw.
Happy hour specials are only served in the bar and not on their popular outdoor patio. We were told we could not buy a drink at the bar at happy hour prices and take it on the patio. So we bought no bar drinks since we did not want to move to the bar for dinner. I have been here for lunch several times. Service was better at Lunch. Food was good and much better than what you might expect from a hotel restaurant.
They have some of the best food in Orange! Great if you love Mexican Food with a little twist. Their handcrafted alcoholic beverages are AMAZING!
We have wait 20 minutes at the table waiting for our server, every time we flag a waiter passing by they kept on saying “oh I’m sorry this is not my table let me call your waitress” etc, etc, this kept on going for a while there was three waiters and one waitress and no service, we had to go get our own drinks at the bar,
the drinks where good as I stated on my previous posting finally our waiter Enrique comes to the table apologizing and explaining that he was just assigned to our table,
we requested one appetizer to be cut in pieces when the appetizers was served by Jose he told my wife in a short and dry manner that “the Chef refuses to cut the appetizer and that is the way is served” I thought that was rude and requested the Chef’s name Jose said the Chef’s name is Godinez I felt he was lying and requested Chef Godinez (The Owner) presence then Jose seen a bit nervous and replied a different name as he walked away from my table at that point I requested to talk to the Cesar the manager who was approaching or table at the time with additional bread that I had order for our table from him, I explained my situation to Cesar and recap to him that from my previous experience I was not expecting a good service but this visit had tip off the scale, he seen to be lost in transition I don’t think he will be able to understand anything about our bad experience with their staff , my complaint is mainly for the restaurant to correct their mistakes and train their personal to upscale their service I just want to share my experience at the Anapalco restaurant in Chapman Ave. the food continues to be great unfortunately their service sucks there is no service what so ever I must say that Enrique our waiter was trying to do his best therefor I have no complaint about him the rest of their staff makes me think otherwise like I said this is my second visit at this restaurant and definitely my last one and I WILL NOT RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE

I had my reservation for a party of six which only four of us went, I called ahead of time to notified of the party changes Lilly answer the phone she was quite short on her answers but not pleasant, my wife and I arrived early to have a drink at the bar while we waited for the rest of our party we order :

Unfortunately the staff needs a lot of polish as far as the food and drinks NO COMPLAINT there I really hope that Chef Godinez fix this issue with his staff and my best wishes to you Chef we really love your food and drinks.
My recommendation for this restaurant is: come with an open mind but don’t expect to get pamper if you are a foodie person this is your place just remember to turn the blind eye to the staff service and have a good time.

The food was very good, as usual, and presentation is something to be seen. As to be expected, Anepalco's was very busy on May 5th, which somewhat affected the speed of service. Overall, our lunch worked out great. The menu has a wide variety of choices but it was not always clear what you get or what the choices were. For example, the signature Chilaquile comes with a variety of fillings which had to be explained by Alexandro, our friendly waiter. However, our waiter handled the situation gracefully.
I'm great food but terrible service.
Food was great...Loved the presentation, the cornbread and grilled bread were delicious and unique. Portions were good. Only complaint---way too noisy.

The food was excellent and the portions were large. The craft cocktails we ordered were also excellent. We took some food home and it was great the next day. We will definitely return.
Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch experience here. Carlos was a great server: attentive and friendly. The menu selection is not very wide and they are not open to modifications to the dishes but guess what, it seems they do things their way and very well at that. I ordered the chipotle chicken crepe ($12) and absolutely loved every bite! It had a kick in the chipotle/creamy yummy sauce. The side salad with vinaigrette complemented the crepe very nicely. Huge serving and super delicious. I paired it with guava margarita ($8). Husband enjoyed his enchilada with white rice ($12). It tasted spicier than my chipotle crepe. All in all - a fantastic lunch experience . We will return to try the other items on the menu.

We've been to Anepalco's several times and enjoyed the unique mix of Mexican with French flair food. The servers are knowledgeable and very pleasant, the food is excellent, and the pricing is great. Recommend any of the egg dishes with either the red or green sauce. The sandwiches also looked good but we have yet to try them. Unique cocktails as well nicely prepared. We plan on returning to this and the Main Street location (which is smaller and a bit more crowded).
