The food was excellent and service was equally great. We sat outside on back patio. One of our favorites!
We use to frequent Andora often in the past. Then with all the new restaurants popping up we got away from going here as much. But we decided we wanted a nice outdoor eating atmosphere. They have a beautiful place. This time back the food was not what I remember it being. Very bland and the crab cakes which I have raved about were the best in the Burgh have changed. Hopefully they can fix that because it is a great place to hang out. Especially in the fireplace room in the fall and winter times.
Arrived at 745 for reservation, did not get our meal until 9:20. My steak was burnt and it wasn't even worth sending back because we were starving and late for after dinner plans. Go somewhere else...
Our meal was wonderful as always! Celebrating my daughters graduation, we had an enjoyable evening!
Great outdoor patio but food was inconsistent. Zucchini appetizer was great but salad and entree did not live up to the menu description. Maybe the kitchen staff was understaffed or primary chef wasn't working. Horseradish crusted fish was somewhat tasteless - the crust was more of a soft coating of bland horseradish. The salad bar and hot bar at Whole Foods have tastier selections.
Also, if you're paying $20-$30 for an entree the music should reflect a classier or more creative vibe. The tunes playing were crappy pop music which had a negative impact on the overall experience. I'd go back for appetizers and a drink maybe if I'm in the area as the building itself is great, but with the caliber of restaurants in Pittsburgh I'm sorry to say this is low on my list for a return visit. I hope they make improvements.
We enjoyed a pleasant and tasty meal for our anniversary recently. The service was friendly and welcoming and our meals were very good. We used to come here when this was the Cross Keys Inn and we still love the unique ambience of this restaurant.
Very nice local restaurant. Very consistent
Beautiful outdoor patio
They took our reservation for outside dining and then when we got there said they could not seat us outside due to a private function. We had to wait ten minutes before anyone in the restaurant greeted us. Everyone was working the private outside function. No one was in the dining room. They should have closed the whole restaurant. Very disappointing!! It will be along time before I return.
The food was great as usual, but we waited an hour and 20 minutes before we were served our meal. No one came to us and said anything or apologized. We weren't even offered another drink. We were just given more bread. This was the first time this has happened here. Hopefully it was a one-time occurrence.
Never a disappointment, our food was fantastic and the service gracious. Filet oscar was amazing.
Good time, good food, nice fireplace with fire, and great staff.
The salmon was cooked to perfection and the bread pudding with cinnamon ice cream was out of this world!
We had an excellent waiter and enjoyed the beauty of the outdoor dining!
Good place to hang out with good friends and eat good food. The salads were particularly tasty. The Ahi appetizer was tasty but a little small for the price; the other portions were very appropriate (not too delicate, and filling without being over-filling). The calamari was well seasoned. The meal was well-paced.
For the value I believe the food quality is very good. Service was excellent and the ambiance in this historic setting is special.
Amazing food. Fantastic appetizers, courteous staff. Loved it!
We usually love Andora and this was the first time that we had a bad experience. They were out of filets (a staple on the menu), our service was horrible, we waited over an hour for our appetizer and another 30 minutes for our food and it was cold when it arrived. We took a friend who had never been there and, unfortunately, I don't think they will return. Because our good experiences outweigh this one bad experience, we will give it another try and hopefully will have better experience.
Nice menu and good service.
As usual - Fantastic food and service!
We went for our anniversary, the food and quite atmosphere were great. We each had a seafood dish and it was all cooked to perfection. The zucchini appetizer was also very good and make sure you save room for dessert. The cobbler of the day was blackberry mango and if you like your dessert to be a little tart, it was great. The cheesecake was also wonderful. The price is not bad for the quality of the food, but for us it is more of a special occasion place than an everyday place.
Awesome staff. Great fireplace and patio
This is another favorite in Pittsburgh. Great food, service is excellent and the atmosphere is perfect.
The food was great.
Crowded. Service usually very good, but was very slow.
Management needs to hire more staff on these nights.
Atmosphere is lovely. Can't wait to experience the patio seating. Food is always excellent and comparably priced. Service continually leaves a little to be desired in both attentiveness and attitude but food is of high enough quality that this is not a deterrent.
Long time (if infrequent) diners going back to the days of the Cross Keys Inn. The woodland setting, the historic building, the elegant yet casual atmosphere--all appeal to us immensely.
Had reservations for 6:45 and out of three of the entrees! Unfortunately two of the ones they were out of was what we intended to order. Can understand later in the evening but 6:45 on a Saturday night....poor planning. Restaurant was busy but not full, no waiting.
They were busier than expected so short staffed so service was ok but not up to their usual great service
I love Andora! It has a wonderful atmosphere, great service and amazing food! The outdoor patio area is beautiful for the warmer months and their brunch is great!
Very nice restaurant. Really enjoyed the service, and food.
This restaurant never fails to delight. The zucchini roll appetizer is worth it every time.
Always great service and solid food...excellent cocktails, and the library and patio are fantastic!
We sat in the living room area just to the right of the door this past Saturday night; the room was nice and cozy. They were busy, but not all the tables were full. The food was pretty good; we had andora chicken, a special chicken and the kona encrusted pork. The service was awful. The waiter started off insulting us when we asked what the Kona encrusted pork was and was very condescending the entire meal.; like he had better things to do than be our waiter. The servers who begrudgingly came to refill the water glasses only filled those who asked, not everyone at the table. It took over 40 minutes to even get a salad (no appetizers and only one beer with dinner) and overall took 2hr 20 min to have dinner! When the waiter finally brought the check he reeked of cigarettes. Ugh. We will not be returning.
Food was wonderful! Love this place and will be back. Only negative was that because we ate early it was very slow and the staff were hanging out in the dinning area while we ate.
A nice special occasion place. Beautiful historic building, good food, nice atmosphere, great service.
Met friends there for dinner during Holidays. Everyone liked their food. Menu varies throughout the year. Pricing was as we expected. They served wine and cocktails, no beer. Waiter was attentive, yet not obtrusive. We would go back.
Andora would be better if (a) the menu changed occasionally, (b) some (but not all) the wait staff were simply efficient and helpful rather than trying to be everyone's best friend. Not much the restaurant can do about the often vulgar clientele, but fortunately on our visit only one table forgot to bring their manners (but they all remembered their phones). Overall, an enjoyable dinner, and that interesting wine list has a bonus on Tuesdays - everything is half price!
Food was great, service was good, waitress added a number of items to our bill that weren't ours. 30 for $30 wines are a great value.
The food was excellent! It seemed like our server was overtaxed or unable to handle the amount of tables she had. The host and other server had helped several times and we still literally sat for 15 minutes from the time we finished our meal to the time we were next checked on. When she finally reappeared there was no acknowledgement or apology, she just asked about dessert and seemed put off that we weren't interested. The demeanor of the host and our server made me feel more like a burden than a guest.
It's worth repeating though, that the food was excellent!
I took my wife there for her 60th birthday. The food was wonderful. It is a beautiful old building but that also makes it a little cramped and chilly.
My client and I both had lunch salads. The service was friendly and fast.
