About Andina

Andina draws inspiration from the native culinary traditions of Peru, as well as from the contemporary cooking by some of Peru’s leading chefs. Owner Doris Rodriguez de Platt, collaborates with Andina’s kitchen team to develop a menu that celebrates her family’s Andean roots, interweaving the ideas and techniques of both Criollo and Novo-Andean cuisines. The kitchen sources native and local ingredients to create dishes at once traditionally rooted and personally inspired. Founded in 2003, Andina emerged as one of the region’s leading Peruvian restaurants and continues to generate wide appeal within the food communities in and around Portland, and much further afield.

The Empanadas remain the stars of the small plate options!

Both lunch entrees, the Peruvian Paella and chicken in peanut sauce were delightful.

Service on this occasion was top notch!

Andina is still one of the best spendy dinner destinations in portland - food so tasty it manages to take you by surprise all over again every time you go back. Do not be afraid of the beef hearts.

Really enjoy this restaurant. It was our third time going there together, we went for my boyfriends birthday. Food was FANTASTIC, waiter was friendly and willing to recommend things on the menu for us when we asked. Love this place, will definitely come back.

We've been to Andina twice and had great experiences both times. The food is delicious and service was excellent. My only complaint is that serving sizes are small so the meal ends up being expensive. Having said that, we have no regrets about the expense given the excellent experiences. It's just that Andina is reserved for special occasions in our case. I especially loved that the owner's mom stopped by the tables to thank us for coming--nice touch!

Get the empanadas and ceviche (we've tried 2 kinds--both amazing) and the octopus and creme brulee and the boozy chocolate dessert drink...and any number of other yumminess. Personally, I prefer the small plates over the entrees, but I would eat anything they served me.

Visited here on our girl’s trip to Portland! We were not disappointed. We had a vegetarian come as well, and there were so many options for her. I even liked some of the veggie options best! Dinner was so great and the owner was so nice for stopping by our table. I’d definitely go back if I’m in the area!

The food was delicious and the portions were relatively large. Service was outstanding and extremely friendly. The food is very authentic Peruvian with some excellent choices on the large menu. It was hard to decide. The panna cotta dessert was amazing and I will definitely get that again the next time we go.

I have to say that I really like Andina. Our family had lunch here on Sunday and it was fantastic. We got a number of small dishes (empanadas, croquettes, bread with sauces, chicken skewers, and stuff tamales), that my wife and daughter shared. My daughter is a picky eater (think Mac and Cheese/Chicken Nuggets/burgers - typical kid food) and she loved everything which is saying a lot. My son got a roast beef based sandwich which he devoured. Overall the service was great, food was yummy, and the decor and environment is cool (its right in the middle of the trendy Pearl District). I’d highly recommend getting reservations, as it can be hard to get in at times, especially the weekend. Good stuff!

Food, cocktails and ambience were all very good. Corkage fee of $25 seemed high. Service was good initially but our server disappeared totally towards the end of our meal. I had to go to the kitchen and find a server who would give us our bill. When you seat people after 9pm at night, it shouldn't be a surprise that they are still there a little after 11pm. Usually a server will say good night and let you know who will help you or ask if you don't mind settling the bill. It was a bizarre end to a nice, but somewhat overpriced meal.

The food was good, but didn’t wow me, maybe because we were jammed in like sardines and couldn’t hear each other talk. Might be a much better experience on a non-peak time and date. Or if you are lucky enough to get a booth.

Wonderful food with both entrees and a tapas menu. Service was very friendly and well timed. It's a very popular spot and the dining room is very loud and crowded.

Our server, Manuel, was great -- friendly, not pushy, willing to let us sit and talk long after we'd finished eating. The food overall was tasty, even if my paella wasn't what I expected (unlike what I've had in Spain). Our appetizers were good, too, and the two bottles of wine we four consumed fit the food perfectly. Andina, which had been recommended to us, fully lived up to our expectations

Andina has excellent food and is usually a fantastic experience, this time however the service was surprisingly poor. Server took over 20 minutes to come to the table and read out the specials, when we said that we’d like to order drinks he walked away and didn’t come back for another 15 minutes, he gave information that was inconsistent with Andina’s web menu about gluten in the desserts, it was remarkable enough overall that even my guests commented. Food however was good as usual and I’ve had better experiences in the past, so perhaps an off night. Also first time I’ve been with a child and I found they were not particularly family friendly (no kids menu and the way the servers behaved in general).

I have never had a bad meal here. The service is always wonderful, attentive, informed and warm. The food tastes even better than the beautiful, artistic presentation. And, the wine list is expansive and includes some fabulous Spanish wines.

We attended their NYE early seating and didn't realize that we were going to be sitting in, what felt like their basement. 3 out of the 6 who attended dinner had never been to Andina and I was raving about it, only to be lead downstairs to a room with no windows, little decor and essentially no music (we could barely hear it). The service was excellent and the meal was nice but overpriced for what we received: bread, a very small appetizer, a bite, a small entree (little protein & large portion of carbs) and dessert for $75 plus an automatic 20% tip. No drinks included. I'm a very light eater and it was just barely enough for me. I will definitely be going back but prefer their full menu, upstairs where the ambiance matches their excellent service.
