About Andina

Andina draws inspiration from the native culinary traditions of Peru, as well as from the contemporary cooking by some of Peru’s leading chefs. Owner Doris Rodriguez de Platt, collaborates with Andina’s kitchen team to develop a menu that celebrates her family’s Andean roots, interweaving the ideas and techniques of both Criollo and Novo-Andean cuisines. The kitchen sources native and local ingredients to create dishes at once traditionally rooted and personally inspired. Founded in 2003, Andina emerged as one of the region’s leading Peruvian restaurants and continues to generate wide appeal within the food communities in and around Portland, and much further afield.

We had an outstanding dinner at Andina. Our server explained the menu very thoroughly and he (as well as the kitchen) was very careful about our dietary restrictions. The food was wonderful and the service was unobtrusive but impeccable.
This is our first visit to Portland and Andina was a great find.

There are two dining areas. We were seating in the one upstairs. It was very quiet which was fine, but we definitely felt removed from the restaurant’s ambiance. Never filled up so it felt like we were afterthoughts. Service was very slow. On the plus side, the menu was very diverse with a nice mix of traditional Peruvian fare and creative new combinations of flavors. The speciality drinks were excellent and the lamb shank was divine. Will definitely go back as long as we get a table in the main restaurant area.

As always Andina is a Portland icon. We went to celebrate a birthday and had a wonderful time. Sharing tapas made for delicious food and wonderful conversations. I hadn't been in years and it stands the test of time.

Love this spot, however our waiter was extremely rude this visit. He was rushed and took it out on us. His demeanor and language were very abrasive.

Andina is one of our most favorite spots for a wonderful evening out as adults for great food, service and atmosphere. We’ve never been disappointed and will always come back. One highlight for us is during our evening, the owner always comes by and thanks us for coming. They know about customer service here and show their appreciation for your business. Wonderful!

Very friendly and attentive staff. Food was just okay. I had the mixed ceviche which was tangy but I didn’t taste much else. The octopus was also a little too oily and not cooked as well as I expected.

This place is awesome. I don't like eating out if the food is something I can make at home, but this was spectacular. Dinner could be really affordable if you order small plates (the quinoa bread and salsas is so good), but we went all out and did not regret it. The service was excellent, everyone was extremely nice and helpful and were very good at answering questions. We were asked about dietary restrictions right away which I really appreciated. It did get noisy as the night progressed, but not too bad. What a great place to celebrate an anniversary!

We came in from out of town for Valentine’s Day dinner. We requested a booth or window table, but didn’t get either when we arrived even though we asked in our reservation and during the confirmation call. The special menu had great options and our waitress was sweet. We lived the drinks, I had the pina colada. The worst part was the couple who was fighting the entire night next to us. With the tight seating arrangements we could hear every word said. Not great for the mood. But we made the most of it and still had a lovely evening.

Went for Valentine's. We waited for the entre for 1 hour. The iconic ceviche cinco elemento's leche de tigre was pure lemon juice. Live music was only hearable through the speakers. Did not even see the band. Steak was completely dull and tasteless. Overrated experience and completely over priced. Would not recommend or visit again.

My husband and I got put downstairs to eat which wasn’t the best, we would have much rather been upstairs because the environment seemed so much better. However the food was still amazing, our server Tyler was nice and we still enjoyed it a lot.

The Valentines menu was limited and didnt have their most famous dishes available. I asked for a rose fto be placed on the table for my date and they couldn’t accommodate even though they had roses on vases.

This is one of Portland’s premier restaurants. It’s a foodie’s dream. Don’t know Peruvian Food? This is the place to experience gourmet Peruvian food. Whatever you want they have, whether it’s chicken, beef, vegetarian, seafood or amazing appetizers.
This is the place to impress. 3 floors with 180 employees. Book early not on the day you want to dine there.

The reason it is so difficult to get reservations there is due to it's popularity....for good reason.....great place for good food and a lively spot for fun. Creative menu, authentically Peruvian....parking tough, so plan ahead.

We were pleasantly surprised to find the chef's take on various Peruvian dishes; he sticks to mainstays but applies interesting innovations for added flair.

I ate at Andina twice this week. The first time, I had the duck confit with rice which was excellent. The pisco sours were also excellent. Unfortunately, we were quite near the live music, so the acoustics were bad for conversation. Nevertheless, we quite enjoyed the food and drink, and the ambience. The second time I ate there we also enjoyed the ambience and had a quieter booth-table. My only criticism is that the lamb shank was clearly not cooked long enough (likely only cooked an hour or so) - I make this dish and know it needs at least 3 hours of cooking for the meat to be tender and the fat to dissolve into the sauce. So, I couldn't eat it (too tough and fatty). So, I recommend modifying this dish to make it much better. I still would recommend this restaurant, but not this particular dish.

Wow. The best meal we've had in Portland. Skillful in every aspect of the operation. Not cheap, but so worth it. Will return at every opportunity.

Andina is a fantastic restaurant with excellent food options. My wife and her mother split multiple small plates and I had the best lamb chop dinner I've ever eaten. Our server knew the menu inside and out and made outstanding recommendations. We will keep coming to Andina's for the foreseeable future.

Have always enjoyed Andina, and this time shared with friends for our Valentine Dinner out. Of course the food was great! and the music was Great! But, it was a madhouse!!! And the noise level pretty much guaranteed that there was no convesation at our table that could be heard by anybody at the table. Did not linger after eating. Just left. Valentine wknd so lots of people and very loud; and the servers seemed a bit overwhelmed -- and they kept bumping into one person at our table as behind her was a main throughway -- and she's a skinny-minny. Will always recommend this restaurant, but watch out for those special event/holiday wknds when everybody else in town wants to dine with you.
