We are now repeat diners. Great food, very Peruvian.
Food and service was great, loved the decor too.
But it was very loud and noisy- not the kind of place where one can have a normal conversation unless without being exceptionally loud.
The food was excellent and service very good except for lack of attention to fill empty water glasses. Close in seating put us to close to neighboring table for two's conversation, which proved to be annoying.
Food in Andina doesn't disappoint. I'd say it's some of the best in Portland area. It's worth every penny, and then some. The restaurant's waiting area layout is unfortunate (with waiters having to move through the crowd), and noise level is about what you'd expect in a popular place, but this is minor inconvenience, fully redeemed by great food & service.
This is a fantastic restaurant. The selection of Peruvian food is nothing like I have ever experienced. There is a great wine list to complement your meal. I highly suggest letting your waited steer you through the menu if it is your first visit. The ambience is great and you will not be disappointed with the service. The restaurant is in the hip area of the Pearl District and there are a number of great spots to visit after for a night cap.
The food at Andina is great - lots of interesting menu options.
The wines pair well with the foods and are reasonably priced.
I prefer a less noisy dining environment. Andina had a downstairs (overflow?) room that they offered us which we were happy to accept, and it was much quieter than the upstairs noisy dining room.
Excellent service too!
I have been to Andina on several other occasions and had enjoyed the experience immensely. I chose this restaurant to take my girlfriend to for her first visit to Portland because of my past visits to the restaurant. The food was very tasty, but I have to say the service was poor compared to previous visits. It started with the hostess, who was very curt with us and said we couldn't go into the bar but we could get drink orders from her. She never came back. We did get seated earlier and the server was efficient, but she wasn't particularly friendly. I wasn't expecting to be best buddies with our server, but she and the person who backed her up went cold when we said we just wanted small plates for dinner. As a customer, I take issue with servers who get all bent out of shape because I'm not ordering everything off the menu. I expected to pay a decent amount of money there, and I tip well when the service is good. I don't like the feeling I get when a server assumes I'm a cheapskate.
Family was in town. The always love Andina for its quality of food and gluten free options. Sadly the staff was lacking any attention on this trip to the restaurant. In addition, the only meat dish not over cooked was a paella dish with seafood. Two orders of lomo saltado , both ordered medium rare came over dry and cooked over medium. They were both also extremely salty. The yuca fries and the yuca fritters were both prepared just fine and were a nice treat. Also, our chicken skewers were very tough and over cooked. The wait staff never asked us how our meal was, as we would have told them. We decided to forego desert after a less than average meal and head out.
I’ve never seen this type of service out of Andina. In the ten years I’ve been eating at the restaurant I’ve also never experienced this low quality level of food prep and execution. I’m hopeful this was just an extremely off night.
I made a reservation for 2 about 3 weeks in advance. I asked for a four topper, as our table is always overflowing with wine glasses and plates of food. . When we arrived, we were most likely the oldest in the restaurant, so they took us down stairs to the quieter room. I felt like I was in a dungeon and asked for upstairs. No 4 toppers were available, so we ate at an overflowing table , once again. The food and presentation were great. I ordered the lamb shank, but to my surprise, it was not a shank. I made notice of this to the waiter and then the head waiter came to the table. The next thing we knew, it was taken off the bill. . Maybe the average person does not know what a lamb shank should look like, but in any case, don't cheat a person, if you post what you do on the menu......We left a bit , well we were surprised !
We received an email alleging that we were “no-shows,” but that is not accurate. We did dine at Andina as planned, and we enjoyed our experience very much.
Please correct your inaccurate records.
Wonderful food and service. April was amazing with her rommendations which were spot on.
Amazing. Just go. The only thing we didn't like was the purple potato and chicken thing.
Great cocktails and food, service was friendly a fun attentive.
Elegant ambiance; courteous, timely service; very, very tasty food; an excellent experience of South American food..... quite exotic!!
Really authentic Peruvian food. Loved all the food and drinks
We went to Andina for a business dinner with colleagues and it was a great choice. The atmosphere works well for chatting. The appetizers were great for splitting and the entrees are well-sized for individuals.
Really like this place.
Always good service and smiling people. The food is great.
Yummy yummy get in my tummy! Great place for business meals, dates...anything!
I took my girlfriend partner here because I wanted to show the little bit that I know about Portland, Pearl District, since last time I was here on 2009.
She loved it, and me too...again.
As always a great experience - amazing food and fantastic service.
Delectable, as always. More on the spendy side, so we reserve this restaurant for special occasions (as this was - our anniversary). The food is heavenly, which is why we inevitably eat too much. Certainly recommended.
We had the Lomo saltado, stuffed avocado, yucca fritas, causa mixto & anticuchos de corazón. I highly recommend all of our plates except for the yucca Frita. Great Peruvian restaurant.
Loved it! Staff were very friendly and the food was great.
Celebrating birthday. Great food (Peruvian paella), soup, salad and outstanding desserts. Birthday greetings on dessert plate we're a special touch. We'll be back!
The service was incredible as we were taken care of by a few service all with incredible passion for the food. They let the cook know of my shellfish and ensured we had a great experience. The food was all incredible with the highlight being the passion fruit mousse cannoli dessert!
We eat here every time we are in town and we are never disappointed. i have referred friends often and never heard a complaint from them, either.
A class act all the way. The food is superior. The wait staff is outstanding. They are ready to help with recommendations and to answer all of your questions.
Took my girlfriend here for a dinner date, delicious food, wonderful service and drinks. Definitely save room for dessert!
Everything was delicious. Complex and complete menu for everyone, including our vegan eaters. Perfect evening.
Love this place, food is great and very original, and service is excellent. Highly recommend it.
One of the best meals EVER. Sommelier helped us pick a perfect wine and our wait staff guided our selections expertly. I highly recommend the tapas. Great for a special occasion.
Expected more small hot and cold plates. Limited menu for "tapas". Prices very high. Reviews had 2 $ signs...should have been 3 to 4 $ signs...
Wow! Absolutely one of the best dining experiences of my life. I have traveled all over the world and enjoyed some fine dining. From our delicious cocktails to dessert, everything was fabulous. We shared the avocado stuffed with crab meat for starters. I had the paella. My partner had the lamb shank. Yummers! We chose the 3 creme brûlée combo for dessert. Out of this world. It was our last night in Portland. What a grand finale.
Andina's is one of my husband's favorite restaurants so I decided to take him there for his birthday. We haven't been in a few years. It's nice to know the quality of the food and service hasn't changed (still exceptional). We went on a Monday night, 6pm reservation, and it was busy when we got there and busy when we left. We got a few small plates (fish ceviche, 1/2 avocado stuffed w/crab, beef empanada, octopus skewer) and shared the seafood jambalaya. The first time we went we both ordered entrees after sharing small plates and realized it was too much food! We ordered the trio of creme brûlée for desert and it arrived with a candle they comp'd it for his birthday . All the food was delicious. We typically get a bottle of wine (he loves their wine list and wine person) but we both had cocktails (he the gin/cucumber menu option, me Bombay Sapphire martini... although I was tempted to have their spicy vodka martini listed first on the menu as have had before and is yummy).
We were at a table for two. The table next to us (couple) was very close. If the restaurant wasn't so loud we would've felt like we were with them (note: restaurant is always loud so if you don't like noise, not the best place for you).
The bar area was busy and there was a live guitarist playing. Some day I would like to try their Happy Hour.
Note: they do not have a Valet so street parking only (allow time for this although we got lucky, probably because it was a Monday night!).
Food and atmosphere was great!
Way too noisy. We had our 46th anniversary celebration and could not hear each other.
Food great, service awesome.
We had a wonderful evening at Andina. Impeccable Food, service and attention to details. It had been a few years since last time and we where true my not disappointed!
The best! Always a feat to come here—food, service, drinks all top notch.
Everything about our experience was flawless. Flavorful, beautifully presented food, inventive and delicious cocktails, and truly impeccable service. I especially appreciated the separate vegetarian menu. Go yesterday.
