Loved every part of our experience from service to EVERY bite!!!
We were seated at a small table against a wall. I said would have preferred to be near a window, but we accepted the seating as offered. We had just taken a sip of water when the hostess came and asked if we would like a 2-top that had just opened near one of the windows. We took it. That gesture immediately improved my feeling about the place.
We told the waitress it was my birthday and that we did not wish to rush through the meal. She said that she would pace the meal for us--and she did. We started with pisco sours. We agreed that they were good, not great; but that may have been because we had have pisco sours in Chile where they do not use the egg whites. Always a bit of competition between Peru and Chile.
The tiny warm Peruvian potatoes with 3 sauces was a great starter. We never decided which sauce we liked the best, they were all great. The palta rellena (avocado stuffed with crab) was also quite good, even though they had to use the smaller southern California avocado rather than the true large Peruvian palta. For his main course my husband chose the pork chop atop a stew of dried potatoes seasoned with chiles and chocolate. It was very rich, but delicious, although the pork was slightly overcooked. I chose the lamb shank accompanied by stewed white beans and garlic rice. Fortunately it was not quite as rich, but with it's meltingly-cooked meat it was delectable.
We were too full to have a big dessert, but the taste of alforjor cookies filled with manjar (thick cooked sweetened milk, often called dulce de leche in Mexico) made us feel like we were back in South America. Mine was accompanied with a small scoop of lucuma (the national fruit of Peru) ice cream on a nice birthday plate. An extra nice touch.
After reading some negative reviews from last year I was fearful that Andina would not meet our expectations, therefore we were delighted that the food and service were both quite good. Definitely a positive experience!
Amazing food - can't wait to come back. Went for a birthday dinner, and had one of the best meals of our lives. So much flavor, and distinct authentic flavor to boot! Absolutely amazing!!!
I have dined at Andina many times and have always enjoyed the food. However, the lunch menu is now more limited and does not offer the dishes I enjoyed. Because of this, I will probably not visit for lunch again.
Always a gourmet experience!
Visiting Portland, it was great to find a Peruvian restaurant that offered authentic dishes from various regions of Peru , not just Lima. We enjoyed sampling several appetizers and small plates. Residents of Los Angeles, originals from Peru, we like what you have there. Congratulations.
Andina is our go-to restaurant when we have visitors to Portland. It is a unique culinary experience. The staff is friendly, efficient and very helpful, especially when it comes to navigating their unusual menu. My wife has various dietary restrictions and they always go above and beyond to accommodate.
The cebiche was excellent and the dessert (leche de asada) was amazing. Can't wait to go back!
Service was terrible. Our waiter was rude, and the food was mediocre, poorly paced to come to the table, and over-priced. There are so many great Portland restaurants and while we have had great experiences at Andina when they were first opened years ago, they are no longer living up to their reputation. Will not go back and would not recommend this place to a friend.
Amazing cocktails. Had the grilled octopus with chimichurri that was mind-blowing. Followed by the quinoa-crusted diver scallops entree also very delicious. Considered the lamb shank or evening special of slow-roasted pork but being from MN, I always steer to seafood when in a coastal area. The table next to me did order the lamb and pork and they raved to me both were also awesome! I don’t think you can go wrong with anything on the menu!!! I will return on my next visit to Portland without a doubt.
Our server was one of the best we’ve ever had! Really fantastic service.
It’s a fantastic place to go and test the flavorful food of Peru 🇵🇪 very good and healthy also the wines are wonderful congratulations 🎊
We have been dining at Andina since 2008 and will always return!!!!!
One of our favorite restaurants in Portland. We like to share the small plates. Different flavors and lots of choices. Save room for dessert because it is also awesome and different and delicious.
It is , and has been for many years, the best restaurant in Portland!
First time visit. Wife’s birthday and she loved it. Drinks were amazing and food was delicious.
The perfect package - great food, engaged service, wonderful ambience all added up to a memorable and most enjoyable anniversary celebration. We had gotten engaged at Adina 13 years ago and were delighted to find that the restaurant has continued to thrive and improve over the intervening years - like our relationship! Don't hesitate to ask your server for menu recommendations.
It had been a long time since we last been to Andina. We need to return more often. The food is just very unique and delicious. Does not disappoint.
A Peruvian highly recommended Andina. Great food and service. True Peruvian cuisine very well prepared. Definitely will return.
Everything was very good, except for the Lomo Salteado that was just ok.
Our server, Zack, was great. Very knowledablge, friendly and smooth service. Was really helpful with explaining menu items. Definetely recommend!
Great place. A bit noisy for me. The food is very good and the portions are substantial. Will be back for more.
We enjoyed the food, the servers, the unexpected congratulations dessert, and our time together. We did not enjoy nor appreciate the two nearby tables of unnecessarily, impolitely loud patrons. Such business parties should be directed to a neighborhood bar or to a private dining room.
Everything was fantastic! My only complaint would be the noise level it was hard to hear each other talk at a table of 4.
I have been going to Andina whenever I’m in town for the past ten years and it never disappoints.
Loved the food loved the service! After visiting Peru this summer this was an awesome place for my family and I to come and reminisce. Every dish was OUTSTANDING and our waiter was so fun and friendly.
I wasn’t lucky. The food was too spicy for me and my boyfriend. We couldn’t eat the entree (cebiche and tataki). I didn’t order the main menu, but he ordered the corderito and it was amazing.
We had a wonderful 30th birthday celebration for my son! Delicious food, fabulous pisco sours, attentive service. Truly a special experience for all six of us!
Lovely meal beautifully served
We were a party of three for lunch. We ordered an appetizer that was something unfamiliar to us. It consisted of three different sauces served separately with a hearty bread for dipping. The strong flavor of the bread overpowered the dips. Not something I would reorder.
My main course was beef with onions and tomatoes. I was asked how I liked my meat, and replied medium rare. The meat was cooked well. It was flavorful with plenty of onions but only one tomato.
My guest ordered the seafood plate and again it was her opinion that the seafood was overcooked.
My wife ordered the beef ribs and was very pleased with her plate. The meat was tender and the sauce was delicious. With just one out of three we will not plan a return trip.
I really enjoyed the tasting menu at Andina for Thanksgiving. I would go here again if in the area. We had a splendid bottle of sparkling wine and the food was phenomenal. Everything was clearly labeled and dairy was left off for certain dishes at request. It was very easy to dine here as a gluten free / dairy free / pescatarian as the server was well informed and amiable to our requests. We truly had a wonderful night spoiled by nearly nothing. The restaurant was quite noisy even though we requested a quiet section, it seemed impossible to attain regardless of where we sat. Everything else was amazing. We were even sat at our table promptly although we arrived about 30 minutes early.
A phenomenal Thanksgiving dinner. We heard about it and decided to give it a try. Not to mention the cocktails, among the best in town.
First rate and creatively prepared Peruvian inspired cuisine. Excellent service. New 2nd floor dining space is lovely and worth requesting. One of Portland's best restaurants.
Andina was phenomenal. We loved everything we ordered, including the drinks. The tomato piquillo pepper soup was our favorite. Highly recommended!
My server Amber helped me make the perfect appetizer and dinner selection as well as the cocktail. Yet another wonderful meal at Andina. Until next time.
The service was outstanding. Waiters and host were very polite and helpful, the sommelier was knowledgeable, and the food arrived promptly. Dishes were presented with taste without being overly fussy, and the chefs clearly know what they are doing (I don't think I've ever had quinoa that delicious). I will definitely go again in the future.
Always amazing, never had disappointed foods great, fresh delicious
