About Andiamo! A Neighborhood Trattoria
Andiamo opened its doors in 1995 and quickly became known as a gathering place for locals. Our historic railyard space—dating back to the late 1880’s — and gracious staff lend a uniquely Santa Fean personality to your dining experience. Andiamo’s thoughtful selection of seasonal, Italian-inspired food and sophisticated wines offer a respite for foodies in a town often better known for green chile and nouvelle cuisine. Andiamo! A Neighborhood Trattoria Ratings and Reviews
I always love Andiamo. Santa Fe has numerous New Mexican style and several Italian cuisine restaurants, but Andiamo is the only excellent one. The calamari salad is outstanding (best calamari in town and many places prepare it). Food is attractively presented, comes hot (temperature) when it ought to be, service is respectful and attentive without being intrusive, atmosphere is clean and pleasant but not soulless, and the menu is nicely varied for vegetarians to meat-a-terians (okay, carnivores) and the sauces aren't overpowering but still plenty flavorful with a balanced consistency. Pasta? Yes, have it. Seafood? Order it. Sandwiches or plates, all good. Andiamo is my lunch place of choice for business or pleasure. The absolutely only - emphasize only - bad thing is how much the City of Santa Fe now has us pay to park at a meter for an hour. So, if you can, find a space neaby that is free so you can sit for a couple of hours and enjoy your meal the way it deserves to be enjoyed.
We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Andiamo. The atmosphere was great - quaint, fresh, casual yet sophisticated enough. The service was good. Prices were reasonable. The food was really good.
A couple of recommendations - we were 5 minutes early for our reservation and ended up having to wait until 15 to 20 minutes past our reservation time before being sat. Things happen, but when they do, something should be offered - free dessert, whatever. Some sort of acknowledgment. 2nd, we ordered a beer which was served in a warm glass.
But all in all - we had a great experience and would go back.
My husband and dined at Andiamo! as the precursor to seeing The Crucible, a play which was being shown in the neighborhood. We had not been to this restaurant in many months.
The food was so delicious. Unfortunately, I ordered the wild Sea Bass. What I got was trout. This mistake was not discovered until I overheard our waiter describing the evening specials to the table next to ours. I was somewhat put off of my meal by this discovery, but I don't think that the waiter intentionally tried to do a "bait and switch" on me. And, in all fairness, my trout was delicious.
My husband ordered clams and he thought they were fabulous!
Andiamo keeps getting better over the years as a neighborhood trattoria. Went with friends last weekend and everyone’s meal was just stellar to the always great spicy lamb sausage with pasta to the linguine and clams to the gluten free pasta options. Only comment on the negative side is the surly hostess who could use an attitude adjustment.
Great wine list too!!
The food was good the service was HORRIBLE. We had a 7:30 reservation and we weren't seated until at least 8 pm, probably later (I didn't record the time). We were never offered drinks or water while we waited for everyone to be seated before us. Why did we have a reservation? I had to go back to the hostess because I was sure she forgot about us. The wine we ordered while waiting didn't arrive to our table for a while after being seated. We had a very difficult time getting lemons for water and our water glasses to be refilled. When our food did come one of the four orders was wrong. The rest of us had to start eating because we were so hungry as it is 9 pm at this point. We had dessert menus but they took so long to come around for our order we said forget it. Then it took forever to get them to run the credit card and the restaurant is almost empty at this point. We were begging to leave. We didn't get out of there until 10 pm (!) on a 7:30 reservation. It was so bad. One thing after the other. Very disappointing.
I don't know how long this restaurant has been in business, but I could kick myself for not knowing about it much earlier. The food is exquisite, the service superb, and the prices were spot on. I've been to other restaurants in Santa Fe that were considered "the best", and the prices were so high that we wouldn't consider going back, the service was nothing to write home about, and the wait between courses was so long that my back began to hurt. One meal took 3 hours to get through. The waiter at Andiamo was attentive, informative, gave great suggestions, and we absolutely loved it.
