Andiamo! A Neighborhood Trattoria Ratings and Reviews
My husband and dined at Andiamo! as the precursor to seeing The Crucible, a play which was being shown in the neighborhood. We had not been to this restaurant in many months.
The food was so delicious. Unfortunately, I ordered the wild Sea Bass. What I got was trout. This mistake was not discovered until I overheard our waiter describing the evening specials to the table next to ours. I was somewhat put off of my meal by this discovery, but I don't think that the waiter intentionally tried to do a "bait and switch" on me. And, in all fairness, my trout was delicious.
My husband ordered clams and he thought they were fabulous!
Andiamo keeps getting better over the years as a neighborhood trattoria. Went with friends last weekend and everyone’s meal was just stellar to the always great spicy lamb sausage with pasta to the linguine and clams to the gluten free pasta options. Only comment on the negative side is the surly hostess who could use an attitude adjustment.
Great wine list too!!
The food was good the service was HORRIBLE. We had a 7:30 reservation and we weren't seated until at least 8 pm, probably later (I didn't record the time). We were never offered drinks or water while we waited for everyone to be seated before us. Why did we have a reservation? I had to go back to the hostess because I was sure she forgot about us. The wine we ordered while waiting didn't arrive to our table for a while after being seated. We had a very difficult time getting lemons for water and our water glasses to be refilled. When our food did come one of the four orders was wrong. The rest of us had to start eating because we were so hungry as it is 9 pm at this point. We had dessert menus but they took so long to come around for our order we said forget it. Then it took forever to get them to run the credit card and the restaurant is almost empty at this point. We were begging to leave. We didn't get out of there until 10 pm (!) on a 7:30 reservation. It was so bad. One thing after the other. Very disappointing.
I don't know how long this restaurant has been in business, but I could kick myself for not knowing about it much earlier. The food is exquisite, the service superb, and the prices were spot on. I've been to other restaurants in Santa Fe that were considered "the best", and the prices were so high that we wouldn't consider going back, the service was nothing to write home about, and the wait between courses was so long that my back began to hurt. One meal took 3 hours to get through. The waiter at Andiamo was attentive, informative, gave great suggestions, and we absolutely loved it.
No complaints about anything other than the new menu. Please, please, please bring back your chicken piccata to your menu. It was divine. No one we know that is a regular to your restaurant can understand why the new menu no longer includes it. It was a hall-of-fame first ballot winner. We adore this restaurant. But why omit a dish that was the best in town? I’m so disappointed and probably won’t dine as often now.
What a great find. The food was truly amazing; did not think a trattoria in SF could improve on our fav back in NY...but it did. I had read about this restaurant for years and had been meaning to try it for just as long. Finally made it and SO happy we did. You'll love it.
We have been regular patrons for more than 20 years and have never been disappointed. This occasion was unusual because of the huge crowds for the Wine and Chile Festival. Normally we would give a five star rating. It has a great atmosphere, cheerful staff and an owner who cares about it. The restaurant is very careful and obliging to accommodate dietary needs and celiac people can eat here safely.
They overbooked and when we walked in were hit with the smell of body odor. The small waiting area was cramped and people were pushed up against each other. Reservations were about 15 min late and people were offered wine or water while waiting though I had to ask for mine.
Once we were finally seated at a table far too close to our neighbors' we settled in and had a FABULOUS dinner! It has always been my favorite for Italian and still is though the rude entry almost caused us to leave.
