Great food but outdoor dining is very loud with cars racing down ventura.
Covid-19 requires improvisation, and there are only two outdoor tables with a view of Ventura Blvd, but when you savor the food and enjoy the service you'll swear you are in the Via Veneto. A very fine local establishment with takeout and delivery that deserves to thrive until things open up fully again.
Excellent improvised outdoor seating but they do mostly take out and delivery now. Excellent food and service. Can't wait till it's safe to go inside but meanwhile please keep them busy. I have no interest in this place directly or indirectly other than it's really good!
Best Italian food I’ve had in LA, moved here in 1999.
Service was good, food was great and they followed the CDC guidelines.
We love Ancora... the food, the vibe and most importantly the people. Everyone, from the back kitchen to the owner, is delightful... which makes the already delicious meals even tastier.
Food was authentic italian and delicious -- definitely not your chain italian restaurant!
Mistake in the kitchen delayed one of the two entree s getting to the table-had to wait longer than normal
Ancora Cucina is my new go-to for a no-fuss date night away from the kids. The atmosphere is simple and the food is delicious. Don't expect romantic or interesting atmosphere. Just really friendly, genuine attention from everyone that works there and great food at a reasonable price. I always leave in a good mood!
As always, an evening at Ancora is a delight! The staff is so welcoming and the food is fabulous!!
One of the best Italian restaurants in the West Valley! Their take out is amazing. Once you get the dine-in don't miss it!
Great neighborhood place. Decent Italian food at reasonable prices. Bring your own wine; their list is skimpy.
Busy on Saturday night at 7:00. Food presented very nicely and was very tasty. Will go back
Ancora is always wonderful. We love the food, service(Nicole), and the owner and busgirl. The food here is always consistently excellent. My favorite italian restaurant in the valley.
BIRTHDAY, great food and good prices
Always very good service exceptional brought
the food as we ordered it.
Meh. I guess if you’re a regular, it could be a good experience but ours was not. It took a long time before someone came to our table. When we ordered, it took at least 20 minutes (maybe more I don’t start looking at my watch when the waiter takes the order) to get the salad. (People were seated and served their appetizer within that time.) we were told - oh, we thought you were served your salad already. (What??) in addition, the entrees were fine but certainly nothing I would return for. In addition, it’s a very noisy restaurant. (That’s not necessarily bad but you should know before you go.)
food is always very good and conssistant fair prices and large portions,
Valentines dinner with friends. Very crowded & service wasn’t great. Will try again on a non holiday
I came for Valentine’s Day and had a nice time. It was pretty empty around 6 when we got there but got busier as the night went on. I got the pollo al funghi and it was delicious. It was a comfortable portion and I took a little bit home with me. My husband got the spinach ravioli and wasn’t a huge fan. It was heavier in on the spinach for his taste. The place can be a bit pricey, but it has a wide selection of Italian dishes. The decor is pretty basic doesn’t have a romantic vibe, but the small business atmosphere was actually a bit refreshing in LA. The service was ok, but our waitress seemed a bit over it when we asked for dessert, but it was a holiday. I’d probably come back, but I wouldn’t expect a super special experience.
4 sittings, I'm the only one who loved the taste of my meal, One meal Spinach was not nice at all, other meal steak was not nice, my 3 guests not overly impressed. But I liked it, for me just a retail store with a restaurant inside, I'm not complaining. you may like it, it's ok.
This is our favorite restaurant when we want to celebrate something or just have great Italian food. The food is always delicious. All the pastas are home made and very light. I had the veal with eggplant that was delicious and it was served with great home made mashed potatoes and fresh vegetables. My husband had their lasagna and he said it was the best he's ever had. They have the best tiramisu anywhere. The service is always excellent.
A very nice evening with warm service and delicious food!!
Good, neighborhood Italian joint. Food is good. Ambience and noise level are pretty good. Just think it's a bit pricy for the style of place.....but we've been there before, and will go back.
Food is consistently good. Service is great. Perfect mid week dinner!
Go for the food, it is like food in Italy, not an Italian-American red sauce restaurant.
We've gone to Ancora a number of times. Staff are welcoming and pleasant and food has always been consistently good. Prices are in keeping with location and quantity. No complaints about the restaurant as a whole and will return.
1. They use finely diced garlic on their bruschetta which is horrifically overpowering. A sign of a lazy and low skilled chef.
2. The eggplant rigatoni was incredibly salty.
You need to find specific dishes here that aren't terrible. Many are not.
GREAT FOOD, GREAT SERVICE AND GOOD PRICES !!!!!
Always exceptional food and service. It was my husband's birthday and we were served 2 fabulous desserts to end a completely delicious meal. The pollo ala lemon is usually my go to. Yummy.
The food was delicious! We were a party of 7 for a birthday dinner. The spaghetti bolognesi was great. The seafood risotto was great. The pizza was delicious. Beautiful holiday decorations as well!
Great Italian restaurant in Tarzana. Have been here a handful of times and the food is always consistant and delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant.
We had a birthday celebration planned for 13 people at a nearby restaurant that was suddenly closed. We found Ancora Cucina Italiana very last minute. They were able to accommodate 13 people with only a week's notice which surprised me, and even more after I saw how full it was at dinner time. They were completely flexible and let us bring our own cake which they cut and served for us. The food and service was excellent!! From the outside, it doesn't look like much, but then you walk inside and there is a warm family vibe. Our server was so happy to help. They were also able to accommodate my gluten allergy and made a delicious gluten free chicken dish for me. They also had gluten free pasta. I asked everyone what they thought as there were a wide variety of dishes ordered, from pizza to seafood pasta and everyone said it was delicious. We will for sure be coming back. Thank you for making our Birthday celebration one to remember.
You don't have to head to Brentwood for great Italian food you have it here in Tarzana. I love the pasta here. All dishes made to order so it takes a little time. Just enough time to enjoy a nice salad and a glass of wine. If you find dishes that you once had at Il Balcona in Encino, it's the same owner. On my four trips here I have seen large parties, families and couples of all ages. Just like in Italy. Very low corkage if you want to bring your own wine but they have a good wine list. Highly recommend.
We continue to return to this stellar family owned restaurant. Varied menu, reasonably priced and outstanding service. Great wine list too.
One of our very favorite restaurants when we can't think of anywhere else to go. We are creatures of habit. Every meal has been exceptional. The personal attention is delightful.
Try the OSSOBUCCO it's fantastic! Pure comfort food and wine and makes me feel I'm back in Italy!
I hate to say it cuz I don't want a larger crowd; but this place is awesome if you are craving Italian.
So friendly, great food, no hassle to swap out some items, great portions and so so yummy.
Reservations for sure.
Overall everything was good except the service was very slow unlike other times.
Ancora is always good. Food is consistently good. Service is always great.
