Owner very friendly and the atmosphere warm warm and inviting
We are long time loyal guests at this restaurant and love the owner Fabrizio. This evening the service was not up to par. The problem was not enough help for a full house. Three servers could not keep up with the needs. Service was very slow. Water glasses were not refilled. Dirty dishes were not promptly cleared. Pizza which was delivered was not hot. We love the restaurant and will be back, considering this evening to being an exception to the fine food and service we always receive.
A terrible experience. Ordered lamb chops rare, they came out medium to well-done and were super-tiny (I had asked if they were sizable before I ordered them). My girlfriend's Milanese was over-cooked. The restaurant was packed (no clue why) and our poor waiter was clearly over-worked. He asked if we'd like to see the owner, we said yes. The owner never apologized (and in fact argued with us initially that the Milanese was not overcooked), just asked what I'd like instead of the lamb chops. Ultimately I said "nothing" as we has already been there for over an hour and the waiter had said he would bring me a half-order of pasta to compensate. A while later, our waiter returned and offered us free dessert and coffee, then took 15-20 minutes to come back with a menu (I had asked a bus person for a menu, she nodded "yes" but never came back with one). When we expressed our dissatisfaction, our waiter asked again if we wanted to see the owner (I get the sense he does this often). We said yes. The owner came over and told us that this was not the restaurant for us and took care of the check. That was nice I suppose, but it was clear the implication was that we were no longer welcome, not that we ever would have returned. It appears not enjoying long waits and overcooked food is not acceptable at Ancora Cucina. As we left, the waiter told us he was going to say something to the owner as apparently he tells people often that "this is not the restaurant for them," and it's become a bit of a problem. We wholeheartedly agree.
Ancora is now our official go to Italian restaurant. The dishes are prepared to perfection, the service is always fantastic and the atmosphere is very cozy. If you haven't tried yet, what are you waiting for?
We are always looking for new Italian dinner options and discovered Ancora Cucina Italiana. What a delightful restaurant. It seems to be a local gem, with people greeting each other and the energy/atmosphere reminded us very much of the family-run restaurants in San Francisco.
We shared a salad and the wife had Ravioli Ricotta e Spinaci and I ordered Ravioli con Zucca. The food was delicious. The wine list is limited but reasonably priced. We think there is a low corkage fee but forgot to ask.
The service was friendly and attentive. We did not have one particular server. It seems that everyone works together to make sure the guests are happy and taken care of.
Unfortunately for us, we will not be coming back soon, since we live in North Hollywood and Saturday night traffic on the 101 is horrible and parking is difficult. That being said, we have friends in Agoura and the next time we meet for dinner in the middle, this is the place for us!
Delicious veal, pasta bolognese and burrata salad Excellent service, great recommendations from server, warmly greeted by owner
Food is always great service is good. Parking can be a bit of a problem but worth the time to find a spot
Such an improvement since pur last visit. Great food and service was so friendly. Thank you Nicole.
Nice, glad we found a good neighborhood Italian restaurant.
If you like real Italian food then Ancora, owned and operated by real Italians, is the place. It will fast become a favorite. Enjoy!!!
Our group of 2 couples thoroughly enjoyed our food. this neighborhood restaurant is convenient and has parking.
Always a great meal at Ancora. Family favorite for many years.
Consistently wonderful dining experience - We've never had a bad meal here and enjoy the casual, local feeling the restaurant provides. Outstanding!
My wife and I are always looking for good places to eat in the Valley, but they are few and far between. I saw so many good reviews on this restaurant that I had to give it a try. It lived up to the hype. Great neighborhood Italian spot with excellent food and a terrific staff. Our waitress was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, and made us feel right at home. Wish we could have talked to her more. We will definitely be back.
Great pastas and fish. Gluten free pasta available as well
Service was spot on and prices were fair for large portions.
Authentic Italian family neighborhood restaurant ! So glad I I made Open table reservations on a Saturday night, it was very busy and they turned away many walkins. The food is special in every way, plan on having you paste Al Dente. The specials are the favorites from years of experience. They will make special requests but why be that person, everything they make is special.
Excellent on every level. Great neighborhood place which caters to the customer
We came for Valentine’s Day dinner. The ambiance is great, the service is always fantastic and the food is second to none. Adrian is a fantastic server and the owners make you feel right at home.
We were here over a year ago and liked it much more. Food was not good this time. Lava cake was stale and tasted like cardboard. Entrees were ho-hum. Really sad to see this as owner and server are nice people. Server was only one we saw taking care of entire place along with owner... won’t return.
They where very busy, but the service was still great and the food was as great as ever
Always a fantastic meal!
Good alternative to Adagio. The main shortcoming of this restaurant is parking. Noise level when busy is high. No booths.
The owners and wait staff always treat you like family. Never had a meal that wasn't superb.
Took girl friend for lunch today and both had different chicken dishes! Delicious and shared mushroom siup🎉. The owner brought us terramissou (so) for her birthday surprise which was greatly appreciated!
Quiet and relaxing afternoon today!
Love Ancora!!! Our neighborhood gem!
Food is excellent
Especially garlic and oil pasta theirs is the best
First time. Can’t wait to go back. Everything tasted amazing and we wanted to try more good looking dishes at other tables.
We were sat at a terrible table and when we asked to move to owner told us those tables were for people with reservations. Um, ok. Service was slow and the food was lukewarm when it was served. Will not be returning.
Wonderful service. Food was excellent
The best italian food in the valley. Great service and the waiters are the best.
Always delicious! Reliable, warm and cozy too! This has become a regular for good all fashion Italian food. The owner and servers couldn’t be nicer and more accommodating.
Have dined in this restaurant for over 30 years and love Fabrizio. Food is always good. Excellent chicken and fish dishes as well as a variety of pastas and salads. See you again soon.
Wonderful atmosphere, fantastic food and impeccable service. Our waitress Nicole was awesome. If you haven’t tried Ancora, what are you waiting for?
Met a friend for a planning meeting lunch here a week ago. We spent three hours and the staff were fantastic, always attentive, never intrusive. It is a lovely cucina in an unassuming spot, and there is some limited parking in back.
Now, for the food: I have been to Italy and while I am no expert, long for the dining experiences I enjoyed there. I was so pleased with the experience that I plan on making this my new "special spot" for friend and family gatherings. The pizze is wonderful, the salads are lovely, and I am looking forward to enjoying the home made pasta on my next visit. Do not miss this experience!!!!
Always excellent! Very friendly staff, clean and delicious food. Love this place!
Ancora Cucina (which we still refer to as La Finestra) is our favorite Italian restaurant - period!
We have been dining here for more than 25 years and with Fabrizio and Salvatore at the helm it is a magical destination. The food and fare are unmatched and the friendly atmosphere and energy warms the soul. If you are looking for authentic Italian cuisine - look no further. Ancora Cucina is the very best - from their antipasti, insulate, zuppe, pasta, pizza to their main dishes - delicious!!
Never have had a bad meal. The owners and wait staff are very attentive to the customers needs
