The staff was AMAZING, the drinks were divine and the food was excellent. Couldn’t have had a better experience.
Just meh on everything.
Food was moderately priced. Not tasty but not terrible.
We had the steak, trio of Gnocchi for two, and tartar. Nothing special about anything.
The place was not well marked so we got confused finding the place.
Host was texting the entire time and not friendly, bussers were kind of bad picking up food. Our server was very friendly.
Finally, we went for the rooftop but it was closed so we ate in doors. While the decor is definitely trying to be classy and unique, there’s no real sense of direction or theme and the ambience was rather boring and quiet, like sitting in a well decorated high school classroom.
We definitely won’t be coming back again or recommending this place, not very memorable and a disappointment from what we were expecting.
Great cozy place to hang with friends or a first date. Food was okay but the drinks are strong and super tasty.
Made reservations for the rooftop. Called and Requested it would be in the private tent. When we arrived they said it’s only for special occasions. Wasn’t very accommodating with that request after mentioning we requested that. They had no heat up there as well.
The rooftop was closed, but it was fine bc the dining room was beautiful. The hostess and the waiter were a bit pushy and rude, but besides that the food was delicious. We had a pizza, gnocchi for 2 and calamari.
It’s a beautiful rooftop and the food is really good but it’s only worth it to eat in the greenhouse tables. The other tables aren’t 6’ apart and the divider is a joke. If anyone at the table next to you has COVID and dinner you are likely to get it. The couple next to my BF and I were so close I could hear every word of their conversation which was annoying. Also the wall of the roof is high so we stared out on the wall of the building next to us. So much for being on the roof. Takeout would have been better - the food was very good.
It was for a birthday dinner and the birthday girl really loved it. Feels like you’re removed from everything stressful and just in your own little corner of the city. Amazing service and great ambience overall. And we even got to witness an engagement while we dined :)
Little expensive but the food was delicious and staff very friendly.
Nice view great service
We were made to sit right next to the speaker initially. Despite repeated requests, they didn’t move us to a table that wasn’t as close to the speakers as ours. And to add to that, the music kept getting louder.
Finally, they moved us to another table.
The food was okay, nothing extraordinary. Not the worth the price.
Very young very unorganized and kind of trashy
The food was amazing
The food was mediocre, but we did only order appetizers. The drinks were not great considering the price. It felt as though you were really only going for the aesthetic which was ruined when actors came in and they started filming an HBO series. The music was turned off and the vibe was killed. I’m sure this place is great on a normal night but my experience was not one I would recommend. (Also it was cold and there were no heaters)
Great ambiance that was well lit and not too loud. Pizza was fantastic
We wanted a drink with one ingredient left out and they weren't able to make any changes to the drink on the menu which is very confusing since they make the drinks at the bar and it shouldn't be that big of an issue to leave an ingredient out especially when we're paying $20 per drink. The food was good but the waiter we got barely paid any attention to the table. Overall I've been to many places across the city at this price range and I expected better service and treatment. This was my second and last time there.
Awful food. Loud. Weird crowd
The food was delicious and the service? was excellent... Can't wait to go back to this place ❤️
We wanted to eat outside, but we were put inside because of the weather. Otherwise great
5+ for views and the truffle fries, but everything else was shockingly bad!
OK, so how to begin.
Tuna Tartare: was bland, with fat running through it. It served with stale bread ( my teeth are still reeling from biting into one of those). A little bit of seasoning or acidity would have helped. I let the chef know and thankfully they didn't charge me for it.
Octopus: Fishy and overcooked. The olive "tapanad" was more olives and tomatoes chopped and thrown into the Octopus and added nothing. Again, could do with more seasoning and better quality octoupus.
Squid Ink linguine: bland and tasteless. Prawns were overcooked and chewy. The "tomato sauce" the pasta was swimming in was like the chef had decided to mix tomato paste with ketchup and decided to charge over $25 for it. Chef!!!
Branzino: was nice, with crispy skin but a little oily. My boyfriend ordered the Branzino and thankfully shared it with me. I had to order a post dinner pizza to quell my hunger.
Great atmosphere and location, just the food wasn't up to par. Go there for a cocktail or two but stay away from the food! Especially as there are tones of other top quality eateries in the neigborhood.
Food was ok. The roof top was really nicely set up so it made for a visual experience.
Well set up for social distancing. Food and service were very good.
Pretty good outdoor experience overall for our group of four. Seared salmon and branzino dishes were tasty but Caesar salad could have used one more anchovy. Serving sizes are a bit on small side for big appetites but worked for me. Dirty martini was a major disappointment. I guess the focus is on the extensive fruity- sugary- cocktails. Would just order wine next time.
Great rooftop area! Felt really safe and socially distanced with a great view. The gnocchi was incredible and the service was fast. 100% would recommend to anyone if you're looking for somewhere around FiDi.
I have been here twice. The first time I had the trio of gnocchi which is classical and really good. The second time I tried some appetizers (octopus, calamari, and tuna tartar), the risotto and the lobster gnocchi. Plus the tiramisu both times. The food the first time was much better: the trip of gnocchi is delicious.
The risotto and the lobster gnocchi are so and so and overpriced. The tiramisu is good.
We waited over 20 minutes before someone finally asked us if we wanted to order, we didn’t get the table we had asked for, the drink order was wrong, and it was hard to get water. All this probably because they don’t have enough people during the week to wait tables and to greet people. But the atmosphere is beautiful, so I would probably suggest to go during the weekend if you want to try the gnocchi.
In general I think it’s overpriced but I guess you pay for the rooftop secluded atmosphere.
Man at ground-level front desk who checked me in was very rude and had a big attitude. Everyone else was very nice.
Service sucked but food and atmosphere was great!
We had a great dinner once we got upstairs but unfortunately waited 50 minutes on the sidewalk (not even allowed inside to stand by or sit on the couches next to the bar to have a drink) to be seated for our reservation.
The reservation process with this restaurant is not ideal. I had put I would like to reserve a rooftop greenhouse as well as standard seating but that was not what happened. When we got there, we were told that we had to call in to reserve the greenhouse...what is the purpose of being able to reserve digitally if that was the case? We then had to wait 40 minutes to get offered to sit on the couch. Not sure what the couch was, we agreed to it since we were hungry. Turned out it was patio furniture that was right by the elevator. We asked the hostess if we can grab a table and she advised the only tables that were available were indoors. At this point we already didn’t have the greenhouse so it was fine. The hostess saw that we were annoyed and asked the waiter to offer us complimentary Prosecco, which was nice of her. The waiter left the bottle there after opening but then came back and took it away. The rest of the evening was fine. I saw we were charged for the Prosecco, but didn’t want to make a big deal since it was my friend’s birthday and she was already disappointed that we didn’t get the rooftop greenhouse. It was a nice venue but the staff who handles the reservation on the first floor are extremely rude and unhelpful. I wouldn’t go back.
This was an awful dining experience. Only thing good was the temp check in and sanitizer. They filled an elevator to seat 5 of us.
Barely a greeting at our table. I understand the covid world I’m an essential worker but the signs about selfies are ridiculous.
My margarita was $20 each. That’s crazy. I didn’t ask for a top shelf tequila I do like that kind that was served but $20 is gouging.
We ordered a burrata appetizer and it was served at same time as our gnocchi. Unacceptable. No one came over to discuss why it’s served at same time. Finally taken away and then attempted to bring it after our food. Now the lobster in our gnocchi was not fresh. We both had the same dish we tried to find someone to discuss the food but nothing. We kept quiet because it was bothersome to constantly be looking for a waiter and not enjoy our dinner. Then the bill arrives with the appetizer on it. I had my credit card and if I didn’t look I would’ve paid 25 which is all price gouging during the pandemic. A terrible over priced dinner and gross food. Terrible service. I struggled to tip 15 %. Would never return ! Ew and should be reported for price gouging.
Rsvp process for “greenhouses” not clear. Cold at night outdoors. Needs heating when there’s wind.
Go for the view, food was okay, service wasn’t great.
The food was ok and the service was terrible. Took 30 min to get a drink. The view is nice but not worth the wait and terrible service
Food and ambience were great, but the restaurant didn’t seem very well managed. We didn’t get seated until 40 minutes after our reservation time and the entire staff seemed really stressed.
Great place for a couples date. The food was amazing along with the scenery.
Awesome food and the servers were incredibly kind!
We had a very nice time together here ! Food is great, only service is a little slow. Definitely place to recommend
Fantastic evening on the rooftop at Ampia! We shared the Ampia salad (lobster, cherry tomatoes, hearts of palm, and avocado) and the trio gnocchi. Perfect portions for the two of us and prepared wonderfully. We had the rose sparkling wine. Mostly a young crowd, but we loved having our 45th wedding anniversary dinner at Ampia!
Food was amazing. Cocktails slightly overpriced, but very good.
The quality of the food needs a boost, lots of potential but unfortunately low quality food and decor, service was okay, friendly waiter.
Our visit to Ampia Rooftop was a great overall experience!
