I love Ampersea!!!! My favorite place to eat and enjoy the environment and vibe
Love It! and thankful for the vegan options but would like more options...Overall great experience
I love the live music they guy on Friday was really good
Wonderful outdoor seats with breezes off the water, a great performer doing live music w/ guitar and sunset over the harbor. Food good but not superb.
Staff very pleasant
Good food. The seafood dip and pretzel appetizer while not cheap was enjoyed by all. Excellent wait staff. Beautiful water view no doubt contributes to the cost of the meal.
My husband and I had dinner outside which was wonderful. Outstanding ambiance. Nothing like having a front door seat on the water. The servers were great. I was disappointed with my meal. The grilled romaine was a tiny pale heart with almost no green surrounded by a few brown tasteless carrots- very unappetizing. While the grilled corn seasoned with feta was tasty but the romaine was not edible. I planned to send it back but my husband wanted to eat the corn. I also had the risotto which had good flavor but I wished there was something other vegetarian offering that was more relevant to summer than winter.
I was hoping for a clever mocktail but none were on the menu. I settled for a ginger beer.
On a positive note my husband loved the short ribs.
My date’s dinner (fillet) wasn’t cooked to her liking, as she specified initially. The staff did fix it with no issue.
Our server was amazing! The menu could be improved, for a seafood rest i expected more variety
The food was unbelievable! I ordered everything from the vegan/vegetarian menu and was not disappointed. I can strongly recommend them all, but the mushroom risotto and the tacos were my favorites. It’s difficult to find vegan options at restaurants that you can tell the chef actually put thought into. The staff was even better than the food! Even if the food was bad I would’ve gone back because of their amazing staff. The young men and women were hands down the best servers I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. Our waitress Yevette was so sweet and helpful. I will be returning very soon.
It's a must visit in Baltimore.
The food was great. Excellent view of the harbor. Nice cool summer breeze created the best ambiance. Can’t wait to return.
Loved it. They were so helpful with my mom being in a wheelchair and making space for our party.
The place was difficult to find, and parking was poor. Service was slow and poor. Outdoor patrons were relocated inside because it looked like it may rain, packing the dining room. We were not afforded any flexibility with the menu, some entrees were not available, and some of the food came out cold. Sadly, there's nothing positive I can say about the dining experience.
We love this restaurant, food, location and energy.
Delicious food and beautiful view. We will definitely be back!!
Great location, fast service, great food and good vibes
Food was great. Ampersea omelette was amazing. Service was great. Outside seating on the water couldn’t be better. Great place for brunch.
I ate dinner last night, indoors, as the weather was misty and wet. The dining room was crowded and noisy; my friends and I had to raise our voices and lean-in to be heard at our small table for three. On the one hand, I'm very grateful we could get out and that life is returning to the Balto restaurant scence. But, on the other hand, there seemed to be a lot of kinks that would need to be worked out in the coming weeks and months. Although friendly and seemingly well-intended, the staff seemed ill-equipped to provide good service. In the front of the house we had sticky menus, over-filled glasses, sloppy pick-up and drop-off of plates causing splatter and spills, inadequate and inappropriate utensils, and tables and chairs that weren't clean. (Similarly, the bathroom was not well-cleaned.) From the back of the house, I received inadequately prepared and undercooked vegetables including peas in shells that were fibrous and inedible, and broccoli whose stalks were so tough I could not cut them with my knife. I've been to Ampersea many times, including its former incarnation as Waterfront Kitchen. Last night's outing was disappointing, particularly for the mid- to upper-range prices.
Great food; great service. Omar was exceptional.
Going away dinner for colleague
Made reservations based on the menu that was available on the restaurant’s website. Our out of town guests were excited and looking forward to ordering the Banana Foster French Toast item. But upon arrival to the restaurant and seeing the menu there, the menu we looked at online was different. When we asked our waitress about the item, she admitted to not knowing what it was. We inquired if she could confirm with the kitchen staff that it truly was an item we would not be able to order and she insisted that the menu we were looking at at the restaurant was the only menu they had. She did not offer to check. After placing our order, we noticed our waitress seemed to deliberately avoid our table for periodic check ins as she did with the neighboring tables. We had to continually wave her down for attention. Another person in our party noted that the bloody mary she ordered seemed to be diluted and tasted more like tomato soup with heavy horseradish.
I’ve gone to Ampersea many times and experienced great service and no complaints with regards to my meals or drinks. It was unfortunate this go round by bringing out of town guests that I was presented with embarrassment for recommending this restaurant for brunch.
Came for brunch with my cousin. She hasn’t been out since the pandemic began so she was nervous. The restaurant’s patio was beautiful. They seats were distant which made her more relaxed. We enjoyed a nice breeze and great view of the bay. The only bad part is the waitress never brought out her mimosa. The food was amazing! We both bought two entrees. She mentioned making Ampersea her new everyday dining experience. I may do the same. Thanks
It was my second time visiting the Ampersea, first time was an amazing private party this time I attended a sit down brunch. Unfortunately, I had to send my food back. The shrimp and grits is made with some type of spaghetti sauce, not what I was expecting. However, my amazing server Jai suggested the bacon infused French toast. Ahhh I was in heaven. The best French I’ve ever had in my life. It’s the bacon infused maple syrup for me. I was very unhappy when I receive my check to discover soda refills are not free.
The waitress was not good, but the other staff was helpful.
I usually don’t write reviews but my experience at this place was the worst service I ever received in my life! We basically got kicked out because they messed up our tables and they were extremely rude. I can’t even make this up. We asked for the manager and he was even worse. The waiter didn’t even bother to take take our orders and served everyone else around us. That’s when we decided to leave. We were the only blacks there and it’s just sad how we were treated. This is a honest review - 6/5/21
It was a warm night where the breeze off the water made it feel very tropical. There was a richness in the air that made the City want to get out of the house to experience a little fun.
We set our reservation at 8:15pm and requested outside dining.
We ordered oysters, grilled octopus, wings and deviled eggs to start and everything was delicious. The smaller oysters from Canada was better than the ones from Virginia. The deviled eggs was not pickled but smoky and savory and the shrimp gave it a texture that was needed. The octopus had a savory smoked paprika grilled taste and it was very tender and moist. The wings were sweet and lacked any additional flavor. The appetizers were amazing.
We ordered our version of surf and turf. The Mrs got a steak and I ordered a crab cake. The crab cake was served in a hot cast iron skillet which allows the bottom to crisp. The crab cake was well seasoned and had a fair amount of lump crab meat. The brocollini was perfect. Cooked tender and well seasoned. I could not stop eating the brocollini. The coffee rubbed filet was tasty but lacked enough salt. The steak was cooked perfectly to medium well done. The steak came with a spinach and mushroom blend and the mushrooms shinned and stole the show.
Desert was a cookie brownie blend with two scoops of ice cream that was fun but not delicious.
We were able to enjoy the after dinner show which was this amazing DJ who blended a house beat with a gospel track by the Payson Sisters. That track was rocking.
We enjoyed ourselves the food the service and the show.
The ambience helped us get through the horrible service. Note this was our unfortunate luck getting a server who never checked back with us as we saw other servers fully attending to their customers. Took 40 minutes to get our cocktails after we finished our appetizers. Patrons who came after us ordered after us got their meals BEFORE us. We even spoke with the manager who clearly was too busy attending to his friends that were there for the evening. No apologies only “we are really busy”.
Great ambience - service was fair but they seemed to be short staffed with one waitress and busboy handling all outside tables. Crab cakes were delicious - felt drinks and food were overpriced-
Terrible service. We were seated outside and the server barely acknowledged us. We waited 20 minutes for drinks to arrive at which time we had finished our appetizers. We then waited well over an hour for our entrees. When I approached the manager to inquire politely about the situation he said “ hey it’s Saturday the kitchen is backed up - if you want to cancel your order that is your option”
There are so many places to eat ; I will certainly not be going back.
The service was quite slow and mediocre at best, but it was nice to be outside and on the water and the food was decent
We were celebrating our 50th anniversary! Loved our waitress, the view, the food! Everything was great!!
Good food, although the menu is a little limited, very good outdoor seating.
Beautiful place and good food. Service is very slow.
Great food, great service! Thanks for a great lunch!
Anniversary dinner date.
Everything went really well.
Enjoyed especially being on the water. Food was very good and service was excellent,
Everything was VERY delicious! Generous portions too.
Patio is lovely with a great view. Wine seems overpriced for serving size.
My first time at Ampersea and I will surely be returning.
Very nice & romantic setting, I would come back again and again!! Definitely would encourage my friends and family this is a must go .. food is every good well seasoned I had the crab cake it was delicious along with a strawberry siblee .. oh and my appetizer was the honey grilled wings omg sooo good, I ate everything didn’t leave no crumbs :) then end my night with dessert!
