At the intersection of Harbor Point and Fells Point, Ampersea is redefining cuisine that's modern, Maryland, authentic. A destination innovating the way Baltimore dines on the Patapsco River, Ampersea's dedication to locally-sourced, fresh ingredients--many from our very own greenhouse--and passionate commitment to storied Maryland recipes set our menu apart. Perched on the western corner of Thames Street and located in the Frederick Douglass-Isaac Myers Maritime Museum building with the Living Classrooms Foundation, Ampersea's dining room, patio, and event spaces offer a stunning combination of panoramic harbor views, impeccable service, and delectable dishes.

Eh. The service was pretty mediocre. He got the table next to us’s order wrong and gave us the food that she didn’t want and then charged us for it. The whole situation was bizarre. Pretty unprofessional.

Beautiful sunny evening in Baltimore, and they had one waiter for the entire restaurant! Service was incredibly slow. Food was such a disappointment. Fish BLT was like you were eating at a truck stop. Second time we’ve been there, and food was subpar.

Food and ambiance - we ate outside - were wonderful!
Music from downstairs was too loud.
Waiter was just ok - not very engaged.

Ambiance was excellent. Food left a lot to be desired. Steak was overcooked TWICE. Portions are tiny. Next time would just go for drinks. Orange crushes are excellent!

Ampersea is a great experience. It’s very well decorated and definitely a “cool” spot to dine. The service is great and the food is absolutely insane. I had the scallops and my boyfriend had the strip loin - they were both incredible. We also had the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer and they were to die for! The only complaint I have is that we didn’t like the drinks we ordered, but I think it’s because we realized we hate the taste of sagamore whiskey. Other than that, everything was perfect!

Our food was - across the board - fantastic (oysters, Brussels, rockfish, pork chop, veggie risotto). It’s a bit noisy inside but the outside deck would be great for a warm evening. The views are unbeatable. Service was wonderful, as well. All 4 of us decided we’d return! Nice to have a Harbor restaurants that is actually good!!

Friendly staff. Community oriented. They had a lot of high school students there that they were training that day which made the service a little slow but they were as attentive as they could be given the circumstances. The food was very good with creativity in preparation. Presentation was good, too.

This was our sixth visit to Ampersea and we love it, the food is very good the staff is friendly and they understand the menu and the wine list. The view of the water is very nice from inside or out. When the weather is nice you can sit outside and enjoying glass of bubble or a cocktail and a meal all while watching the boats go by. Try the crab cakes they are really good. Enjoy your meal

Everything was fantastic!! Fried green tomato’s were a big hit along with the Brussel sprouts. My girlfriend was in town and craved crab cakes and Ampersea lived up to our expectations!! Crab cakes were packed with flavor with practically no filler, my filet was cooked perfectly with the au poivre sauce on top, and our server Norbert was knowledgeable about the food and our bartender Jess made awesome cocktails. Shout out to management, Lamont and kyle, for making our date night a night to remember. We will be back!!

Great dining experience from start to finish. Our waiter was accommodating and patient, and the views are some of the best that the city has to offer. We had the Fried Green Tomato with Lump Crab Imperial for an appetizer, and was more than impressed with the amount of crab provided. Entrees ordered were the Lobster Roll, Rockfish BLT, and Seared Scallops with Sping Pea Risotto.

Hey Ivana, Sorry to hear about your poor experience at Ampersea. If you ever decided to try Ampersea again please ask for Kyle or Lamont and we will make sure the experience is a great one. The weather is turning soon so we would like to make sure you get the best table for whatever evening you choose on the water. My other question was could you please clarify that you were charged $33 for that dish? That charge should have been $27 so we should refund you if thats the case.

We have dined here 7 or 8 times since the rebranding and every time we have very happy with the experience. The short rib was outstanding my wife had the crab cake, yes she shared forkful, as a life long Marylander it was very good. If your thinking about going stop thinking about it and book a table.

Went to Ampersea for an anniversary dinner on NYE- was unaware of the fixed menu until we got there. Prices on the regular menu seemed reasonable when making the reservation- $20-30 entrees. No price listed on the fixed menu when we ordered and were shocked by the $80 per person price... my husband ordered the chicken. Food was ok (veggies were undercooked)... boxed up our own leftovers which is a little strange for an $80 meal. Our reservation was at 7pm and the entire place was empty- really awkward. Nice overall ambiance and service.

Hello Emily, I am sorry for the confusion about the $80 4 course fixed menu for NYE. We had on our main page of the website the menu and prices stated along with all of our social media platforms reflecting the same thing. The restaurant is typically slow this time on NYE because everyone makes late reservations to be around for the fireworks show. I apologize that the vegetables were under cooked and I will communicate that to the chef.

I made a last minute reservation for 5 people for 8pm on a Thursday night.
We arrived at 7:55 and were told the restaurant was closed for the evening.
I guess that's all there is to say.

The menu was different from what was displayed on their website so that was a bit surprising. I had the small dish plate of scallops with golden raisins and little cauliflower. It was delicious. That could have been a main dish. The brussel sprouts with bacon were okay...they could have been a bit more tender. Overall I would give it a B+.

The food was expensive and just ok. I ordered the short ribs and they were tough and on an enormous plate of fries. I would have preferred more meat and less side dish! My husband's chicken was the better dish and the Brussel sprout appetizer was nice.

Really loved the setting for Ampersea, and always thought it was a little weird why the ratings were so relatively poor. When we showed up with a reservation on a Sunday and there was no hostess, or table for us to be seated at, we then began to find out. Once we finally got seated, and waitstaff was identified, we finally got to order. In lieu of the tortilla chips we were given instead of the Bavarian pretzel as the menu described to accompany our crab dip, we asked for lettuce. In response, our waiter, who was quiet aloof throughout the entirety of our visit at Ampersea, physically raised an eyebrow and stared at us...rather than responding with a "yes" or inquiring, "why?" or "what type?". All the while this was happening, the table next to us was informed that there was no vodka at the entire restaurant. I was dismayed along with them! Ultimately, we got our food, which was good enough tasting, but I'm sad to report that our bellies have been upset since. I'm not sure if it's unrelated or not, but a cautionary tale of our experience nonetheless. If the service had been tightened up, I would've been happy to avoid writing a review altogether, but I'm pretty forgiving and found that this was not a great experience.

We went to scope the place for a birthday event. When entering there was no one to greet us. After a minute or so, Danny came to greet us, only to walk away to see if there was outside seating. (There we’re literally 10 people outside with 10 tables of 4). After being seated, Danny returns to take our order. Our appetizer and drinks came she never checked in. We flagged another waitress for napkins. Danny delivered our meal and again never checked in. We had to flag another waitress to get the check. Needless to say we are looking at other places. It’s unfortunate since it’s such a beautiful view.

Gorgeous returant in a wonderful waterfront setting but food is way below par . Chicken wings did not have much flavor. the pretzel crab dip also lacked flavor, pretzel is way huge and not much crab in dip . The soft shell crab sandwich was mediocre and excessively breaded
It’s a shame, we would love to return given the lovely setting and this was our second visit but overall food does not draw us back. It’s possible brunch may be better
