Overpriced and waitress not helpful but big on the upsell
Muy buena comida y ambiente..
This restaurant is very impressive, considering it is so close to Grand Central Terminal and has no big reputation that I know of. The spanakopita was superb as was the branzino.
Amazing place very good food beautiful atmosphere
And very good service I love it I will be back for more
This is our go-to location near Grand Central to meet up with friends. Food is good especially the shareable starters And noise level low enough for real conversation. Staff is nice especially the manager.
Great food and excellent service.
I have now had two good experiences at Ammos, after almost two years of bad experiences. Keep it up.
Last time I was serviced upstairs and this time downstairs but at the lunchtime I was there, the place was only 2/3 full. As a result service seemed very good. It was the first time I have been downstairs at Ammos and was satisfied with my service.
The food is always fresh and good!
Tasteless food and strange decor. A mishmash.
Waitress could not have been more helpful
The food was average, the service was fine.
All around excellent !! What more can I say. I will return.
Probably one of the better value/priced restaurant for New Years Eve.....certainly less expensive than the trip to Athens for similar occasion. Service and staff were friendly, professional and accommodating.
Excellent meal and service.
Food is good, well elaborated although a little bit too sweet (dishes including meet). Probably nothing wrong with it as I am not accustomed to Greek food. Fish was very good.
Although we had reservation, the restaurant was full and we had to wait some 10 minutes in the bar. The table fixed for us was a bit unstable. As we were three people, a larger top was placed on a 2-person table so we had to take care not to turn the table. A more proper service would have been having us seated at a 4-person table.
The space was nice but I was very disappointed. The service was slow and the food was expensive and not good.
Came here Christmas Day with wife and kids, and the staff was kind enough to accommodate a seat that would work with a stroller for my 5-month-old. Food was good albeit came out slow, which I expected with a holiday rush. The wait staff was completely overwhelmed and had to be waved down to get plates cleaned up for the next course. I could hear the manager yelling at his staff about taking their 15-minute breaks. For the price, I would have expected a more civilized experience.
The ambiance was beautiful, and the fish was fresh. I would be willing to try again, but never back on holiday.
I didnt understand why this restaurant has low grade.
Such a wonderful decoration and reasonable price.
I love here! Me and my friends all enjoyed dinner and talked a lot. Salmon was nice! But hope they have more cake menu for dessert. Anyways I liked it. Definitely go again!
My steak was ordered medium rare, they brought it rare, my appetizer was forgotten as well
Great atmosphere, good service, good food.
Came here for a reunion dinner with my mom. The food was great and the place was comfortable.
Like all of our prior meals at Ammos Estiatorio, our lunch on Wednesday, 12/19/18, was excellent in every way. Our food was superb, especially the perfect grilled octopus. The same goes for our wine I selected off their concise, smartly assembled list. It was a delicious 100% Assyrtico from Greece. We also enjoy the decor which instantly transports us from Midtown Manhattan to the Greek isles. Best of all was the service provided by host Miletes and our server Marcello. Both of them made our lunch a pleasure with their expertise, friendliness, and professionalism.
We look forward to our next visit soon.
Menu heavy on fish. Limited non-seafood.
Absolutely beautiful restaurant! Amazing service and experience overall. Food is fantastic and the wine and cocktails are fantastic but you don’t pay stupid prices for what you deserve on a night out. Recommend as neighborhood gem and perfect for a special night out.
The service was very slow, noise level high. I wouldn’t go again.
Lovely meal! Great food great service
Lovely atmosphere, great food! So close to Grand Central Terminal … very fresh seafood and a delightful appetizer.
I don’t know how this restaurant got such high ratings. My entree, the moussaka was lukewarm on outside and cold on the inside. Obviously was not made fresh and was just re-heated (yuck).Very disappointed as the appetizers were good.
The food here is so average
Fabulous food and service. We had the octopus appetizer and it was spectacular. Our fish was cooked to perfection and loved the light sauce that complimented it. The chocolate dessert was delicious too. Our server was excellent and was attentive and professional. We were very pleased.
Place was buzzing - food excellent
Everything about the restaurant was ok.
The food was horrible, service was terrible, and it was noisy.
Service was horribly slow and neglectful. The room is drafty and cold.
Good Greek food, and creative. The octopus app was wonderful. The wines were good too. Don't come to NYC that often, but have been here before and will come again ! (Also I'm Greek, so pretty fussy .)
Service and food is off the hook! Our waiter was so attentive and personable he made our experience memorable.
The menu may be similar to other high end Greek seafood restaurants, but everything is spectacularly as is suppose to be!
The restaurant did not honor the typical 10-minute grace period for reservations and immediately gave our table away.
Lunch is a brisk and efficient event with a well oiled machine geared to get the mostly businesspeople crowd back to their desks within an hour. The food was good enough, though oddly the most delicious item was Greek yogurt with cherries and honey for dessert. We did not have fish, but they looked great presented by the waitress in their whole and raw state on a silver platter. Most impressive was a giant prawn, though the $65 price tag was definitely geared to the expense account crowd (not us). Our waitress was a bit chilly and we sensed some disapproval when I ordered only a small plate. She spotted me sharing some of my husband’s larger meal and made a point of dumping his French fries out of their paper lined cone onto a plate — “since you’re sharing” she said. Personally I love those cones which ensure the fries stay hot. Oh well. Prices are steep as you’d expect at a place just across the street from Grand Central terminal. I’d recommend Ammos if money is no object and you’re lucky enough to get a waiter who doesn’t make you feel unloved for spending only $100 on lunch for two.
What a fantastic way to spend our pre-theatre evening. Several menu choices all within a great value!
