About Ammos Estiatorio
***** SEAFOOD GREEK RESTAURANT ***** Located in the Heart of Midtown, steps away from Grand Central Terminal. Ammos provides upscale, authentic cuisine from various regions of Greece. The menu features a wide array of mezedes and pristinely fresh seafood as well as whole grilled fish. Ammos Estiatorio Ratings and Reviews
Chose this restaurant because it was convenient to grand central. It's overpriced and the food is mediocre, doesn't come close to milos or avra. The worst was we hadn't finished our coffee and desert when the waiter rudely told us wed have to leave?!?! Never in my 30 years in the city has this happened and I will never eat here again!!!
We were looking for a place that had a holiday feel, but not overdone. A place that felt nice but yet casual. This was it - and on top of it, the food was fantastic! All four of us were so very pleased with the drinks, appetizers, entrees and the service. We will definitely be back.
I always go to NYC during the holiday season from the department store light shows and window displays. I also always book a new restaurant to visit usually based on reviews here on Open Table.
Me and significant other did enjoy the restaurant ambiance and Iver the food was good. That being say many other aspects were disappointing. Many of the "flown in daily" Mediterranean fish were not available. Local Oyster selections were also not available. Very disappointing.
The food we did receive was very good but a restaurant should strive to have their full menu available. Many people only visit the city but once or twice a year.
The food was good. We had a good waitress who gave us good food recommendations. Halfway through our dinner she disappeared and we had the Maitre d waiting on us. When we asked where our waitresses was he said she was past her curfew. The place was also very slow so perhaps they sent her home. Not comforting after developing rapport. Oh well. The food was good.
The lunch prix fixe is not as great as the other Greek places in the area. I love Ammos for dinner, it’s expensive but worth it. The lunch prix fixe however is too limited and the food tasted like it was made without care. I’d go back and order off the regular menu again.
