My favorite lunch place. One of the best Greek restaurant in the city that I know of. I come here pretty much everyday from work for lunch with my coworkers and they never disappoint. Love this place.
I had my daughters 16th birthday at Ammos and it was everything that I expected, food, service and ambiance were amazing.
I will be back.
I had a wonderful time at Ammos again!!
Fish, octopus were wonderful, and the wine selection was great.
I will be back.
Anniversary dinner was just wonderful. At night the atmosphere of the restaurant changes completely. They gave us a choice if we wanted a booth or a table. Obviously we chose the booth.
Our waiter was so helpful in walking us through the menus.
Their octopus mouthwatering. Will be dinning again.
Food is unfortunately the weak spot at an otherwise great location and nice room. Since you are paying top dollar it makes no sense to spend it here.
Their food is absolutely amazing. One of the best seafood restaurants I ever been to. I go there pretty much once a week with my coworkers for lunch. Definitely recommend making a reservation for lunch since it gets very busy. They are always very helpful when making large parties as well.
Nice place for business meeting and very good food
What a wonderful lunch I had the grilled fresh fish was amazing so was the service and the ambiance ,Ammos is always great choice in the city
i can't get enough of this place, always up to expectations
Good place for dinner, staff very knowledgeable, food is on the spot.i will be back
Visited Ammos for an early dinner!the greeting at the door was very warm and I felt outstanding to see that! Greek music was playing and it reminded me of the Greek Hospitality! Service was on spot! Server brought a fish display to the table and explained everything of the specials! Food and service fantastic! Will be back for sure
Great experience at Ammos Estiatorio, the fresh grilled calamari and paidakia(lamb chops) were amazing, service was very professional and knowledgeable in wine and food. I will be back.
Had lunch at this fantastic greek restaurant! I had the special of the day which was a grupper ona ratatouille!wow! Service was great! For a very busy place didnt feel rushed! Enjoyed our milopitta( apple tart).
Me and my friend went for dinner to ammos which we heard the best from some people! The fresh fish were perfectly cooked ! I had the greek chardonnay which was great! For desert we tried the homemade baklava! Outstanding! Service was great! Greek music was playing all night long and we loved ! Ammos delivers!
Started the evening with myself and Mom, surprised by family to celebrate Mom's Birthday, we became 7. Ammos quickly accommodated us with a bigger table. We started with the flaming cheese Saganaki tableside... OPAA!!
Followed by the best assortment of pureed mezes of Tzatsiki, Taramosalata, Htipiti, Meltizanosalata and Skordalia.
It couldn't be complete without Chef Marino's masterfully tender Grilled Octopus.
Ammos servers display tableside their Fresh-flown-in whole fish from the Mediterranean --
Fagri (white snapper), Lavraki (bronzino), Tsipoura (dorade), Barbounia (red mullets) and the Atlantic -- Red Snapper, Wild Seabass, and Mom's favorite, Dover Sole from Holland.
We took the recommendation from the server and decided to share two Mediterranean and two Atlantic fish grilled and de-boned, and Mom was being territorial with her sauteed Dover Sole, God Bless her.
All the entrees came out with a team of people skillfully plating the fish equally between the 6 of us, as they drizzled their signature lemon sauce with capers and aromatic mountain-grown Greek oregeno. We got quite the pampered treatment!
Fish comes Ala carte, so we carted to the side dishes and chose the Roasted Lemon Potatoes, Roasted Fingerling Potatoes, and Wild Greens which gave a bitter contrast to the mild fish. Our server recommended a wonderful wine selection of Greek Assyrtiko/Sauvignon Blanc Blend by Dougos Winery, interestingly aged in Acacia barrels, as our server continued educating us as well.
For dessert we shared the Traditional Baklava and sweet Greek Yogurt Flan with Sour Cherry preserve, paired with Sweet Greek Malagouzia dessert wine. Mom got the Warm Honey Crisp Apple Tart with a hint of Metaxa brought with a lovely candle.
Dad had some Plomari Ouzo and from there it was time to say
"Kalinychta" to the best Greek Restaurant we've experienced in NYC. The staff was a great team and the many compliments to chef Marino!
KALI - NYC - HTA
Fish is best quality, and service is extremely attentive l recommend it
Me and my work colleague visited ammos for a quick lunch! Were greated from the friendly hostess and were sat down immediatley! Service was on spot! Loved the lavraki and the lemon potatoes!
Very good ! Loved the food the service the ambience! Ammos is by far the best Greek restaurant in New York! Will be back ! The most must visit place!
Appetizers were delicious and generous portions. The entres no better than average. Not flavorful. Service very good
I would definitely recommend this place, I took my family and not only was the food delicious but the staff and customer service is the best..
My business partner and I dined at this restaurant for the first time. We enjoyed the meatballs, octopus and lemon potatoes. The eggplant entre was just okay. We looked forward to having dessert, but unfortunately we were never offered any. It was very difficult to get our server's attention throughout our dinner. We were unhappy with our dining experience and will not recommend it to anyone.
Perfect pre-theater menu, service was impeccable , food was well presented and great atmosphere
I visited Ammos for my best friends birthday and we had a marvelous time ! We were all impressed by the Dover Sole along with other side dishes. The food was delicious. Then to top it off we had balaclava which was just what we wanted. Very good ambience, service and hospitality.
I arrived a little early before my client and was fortunately able to be seated.
I waited and waited for a menu, water and someone to take my drink order. It took 10 minutes for the water and another 5 minutes and two requests to other staff to get my waitress for my drink order.
Once my client arrived, service improved marginally. My appetizer was great, zucchini. The whole fish I had, which is their specialty, was bland. I looked for salt, there was none on the table and I could not get anyone's attention to bring me a shaker.
This quality of service I would maybe tolerate from a local pub, but with this restaurant and their bill of $255 for dinner for two, no.
One of my friends recommended this place. And I'm glad she did. This was my first Greek restaurant and it was definitely worth it. I work right down the street and can't believe I missed this place.
Their Greek salad was amazing. Food came well cooked and fast. Staff was very friendly as well. It does get pretty busy and packed around lunch time and that's how you know that their food is amazing.
Definitely coming back.
This was our second visit to Ammos and everything was delicious. We enjoyed a few glasses of the Greek wines, vegetable chips, Dorado and the tuna. Service is professional with all the entrees being served together. Certainly recommend especially if you're near Grand Central.
food was out of this word, our server wad very efficient
Great food! Great service! Best greek restaurant!
Food was very good. .i love the octopus dish I really enjoy the lamb shank. I The service was very attentive and friendly
Thanks Ammos we will be back
I had a wonderful lunch here.the food was good, healthy and fresh
Amazing from start to finish. Definitely go during live Greek night. I felt like I was in Greece dining and listening to real bouzouki music. The food is incredible and so is the service.
Food was great. Waiter did not rush us. Great opportunity for friends to catch up.
I found the service to be mediocre and food good but not great, but was really offended by our waiter’s upselling us to a very expensive bottle of Greek wine that was pretty crappy and the restaurant’s absurd and somewhat deceptive pricing of its fish by the pound, which let to quite a shock when each of us paid $75 - 95 per person just for our entree. I will never go back.
It was just okay. Nothing special
I have been to Ammos on several occasions and always have the best time.the food, service, ambiance are paired together perfectly for an incredible New Yorker city dining experience,I highly recommend this restaurant
Very early dinner! But everything was perfect! As we started from the door till the end of our meal! Service and food just great! Love the decor and the ambiance! Very notable signature cocktail list! Loved the ginger margarita.☺️
Three of us had a wonderful meal and dining experience on Saturday evening. The Octopodi appetizer was excellent, as were the others. Two of our party had snapper and the third had sea bass. All three entrees were cooked to perfection. The service was quite good and friendly. All in all a very enjoyable evening that we look forward to repeating! Well done!
Food was very good but the dishes were very pricey for what was served.
Loved it thank you. The staff was great and very attentive.
Great fixed price Valentines menu.
