we loved Amis, it was one of our favorite places. But the recent changes, new chef? have made us missing what Amis used to be. The open dining room feels cold. The menu lost some of its best features and some of the new dishes aren't great. The desert menu was very disappointing. We tried the goat cheese arancini, felt like we ate a ball of sawdust! The once amazing crispy brussel sprouts were over salted. My favorite rigatoni bolognense was still delicious but a little off. And a once crowded restaurant was very quiet. So sad.
Great dining experience. We went for lunch and for the first 40 minutes had the entire place to ourselves . The menu offered a little bit of everything and the food was delicious! Can't wait to go back for dinner!
our meal was delicious at Amis. Portions are so large I am eating leftover Bolegnese at home for the 2nd time.
We have dined at Amis Trattoria many times. My chief complaint is that they rush you out of the restaurant even when it is not that full. We were done dining in less than an hour. The White Bean Soup was on the watery side. You usually think of bean soup as being hearty. The Swordfish was absolutely delicious though. My Partner is Vegan and there was a starter and entree option for him. Drinks and wine are well poured. As I said, we go often but it's not as good as the closed Amis that was in Philadelphia.
Love this place. Perfect amount of food. A little pricey but I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve ordered since they opened ! I rarely order chicken out but there chicken dishes are delicious ! As are their pastas , fish etc. bread is yummy!
great service! delicious food. the bartender created a unique drink just for us. how awesome it that.
Love Amis but they have made a lot of changes. Taking away the partitions in the dining room has made it louder and less intimate. They have also gotten rods of some of the best menu items including the potatoes, the crushed tomato pizza, and the garden salad. And no Italian beers at this Italian restaurant. Not as excited to go back.
Small shared plates gave us lots of opportunities to explore several deliciously delightful dishes. Will definitely be back!
Our family of 8 had a reservation to celebrate a special birthday. Our table was in the bar area, not the dining room, we sat and waited a very long time (45 mins) for someone to take our drink order and by that time we were starving and ordered our apps. After another very long wait most of our drinks arrived except for the b day girls which took about another 30 minutes to arrive. (They apologized and comped the b day girls drink.) Our apps arrived around the same time and finally we ordered our entrees (our menus still sitting on the table when our apps arrived). We waited at least another 45 minutes for our food to arrive. My sons chicken was so overcooked and dry he could barely swallow it. All our entrees were served on very hot plates as if they sat under the heat light for a very long time. Pasta was tasty but dry on top again as if it sat under the heat lamps. By this time the b day girl who just got over the flu was exhausted and needed to go home after our 3 hour dinner experience and we left without getting dessert. Nobody ever apologized for the wait time other than the cocktail. I don’t kno if they were short staffed our what the problem was but it was one of my worst dining experiences ever. I’ve been to Amis numerous times in the city and to this location one other time and every other visit has been wonderful.
Quiet, pretty. It was New Years Day, though.
N. Y. Eve. Tasting menu was creative and well conceived. Short rib melted in mouth And Porchetta was amazing
Service was stellar to start the night and took a turn for the worse when a neighboring table arrived and became pretty high maintenance. Squeaky wheel gets the oil I suppose. Unfortunately we're not complainers so ended up with the short end of the stick. Will give another try before giving up.
Love this local place, but the food has not been very good lately. New chef maybe? We will try again and hope other locals will also, because it is a well located spot, but many other alternatives available nearby, so they need to fix the kitchen.
We will definitely return
Salty to the point of inedible
The food and ambience were very good. However the service was extremely slow(over 20 mins to be served soup?) and it was obvious that the restaurant was very understaffed.
Great service and very fresh food!
Food was pretty good but the seasoning was under/over on some dishes. Many dishes that should have had a sauce involved (octopus app, cod) were on the dry side. They must dislike sauces...
server kept completely forgetting about us and leaving us hanging for long periods of time.
Innovative Italian. Pizzas are different from pizzerias, more like Italy. Ginger bread eggnog ice cream sandwhiches with candied ginger in chocolate sauce: each bite tasted like Christmas.
We had a great time. The food was delicious and the service was great. The ambience was great and the decor made you feel like you were in a really cool place.
The restaurant was beautiful however service was slow, they may have been understaffed.
Great service at the bar. Enjoyed our salad but our Margarita pizza, although tasty, was not hot when brought out. Our yummy glass of wine kept us happy!
Used to go to the Amis in center city and I was very disappointed to find the 3 best items on the menu had been removed at the Devon location. No beef cheeks, no pork chop, no tiramisu for dessert, and the bucatini was overcooked. Not a lot of ambiance, very impersonal. Probably wouldn’t go back...
The food and service was phenomenal. I’m already excited to go back.
Server was accommodating to one of our party who was a 'picky' vegetable eater. I ordered a white bean soup which was good but not quite warm enough. My swordfish was over cooked and had more black pepper on it than I have ever experienced. ( a slip of the hand ? ) all in all not a bad meal, but not a great one either.
It is a beautiful restaurant but I felt the food was just okay! We had Brussels sprouts and then two different pastas and they were a bit bland and unremarkable. Not bad, just not as delicious as the wonderful meal we had there last December! I felt the menu wasn’t as enticing as maybe it has been in visits past. It isn’t that we’d never go back, but won’t be rushing there anytime soon! Sorry!
Bar table seating was very loud. Service was attentive and adequate. Excellent options for wines by the glass. Kitchen got bogged down; major slowdown between first and second course. Enjoyed the octopus but Sal’s meatballs were just ordinary. Cod was a good choice for entree but the mussels, while accompanied by a lot of toasted (but cold) bread, were very dry and devoid of anything to dip into. Pound cake with pistachio ice cream was a good choice for dessert. Hard to justify the high prices for an ordinary experience.
Beautiful place, great food, incredible service
The service was slow, we waited an hour and a half for our meal. After complaining the manager was very responsive and discounted our check. But overall, not a great experience and the food was mediocre.
Very Disappointed! This was our first time at Amis and I was really looking forward to it. We ordered the baked fontina as a starter. I found that to be over powered by the fig Jam. It was just ok. My dinner was actually Not bad . I had the Caesar salad and the Cacio e Pepe both good. My husband and friend ordered the scallops. This 30 dollar entree had only 3 scallops($10 per scallop) , they were very salty and the mushroom sauce was not tasty. My other friend had the rigatoni. She found that dish to be bland and did not wish to take home. She probably had more than half left.
We passed on the dessert. Unfortunately, this place was a miss for us.
Total enjoyed the experience and would definitely go back.
Great service at the bar!
Food was delicious, really loud hard to talk to my guests
Nice restaurant with great food and service. Drinks are a little pricey, but most of the food is reasonably priced.
Awesome waitress and awesome server. We loved it.
Cold and very uncomfortable restaurant. Food is very good but smaller portions. I don’t think I’ll go back.
We had horrible service from the moment we sat down . No one brought us menus, we had to ask several times for items with no apology, just a bad attitude. I don’t think
I will ever go back.
I have to admit that I was really disappointed with Amis. My husband and I went for our anniversary and I wish I had kept the reservation I had made at another restaurant. The meal was just not what I had hoped it would be. First, there were no specials. I ordered the scallops and when they arrived, the accompanying sauce was gelatinous and cold. My husband's chicken sounded great on the menu and was just ok. He tole me I have made better dishes at home. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Our waitress was wonderful, and the food was delicious. The service was a little slow, but our waitress had all of the tables to herself, and we were not in a hurry, so we didn't mind. Amis is a hidden gem!
Went to dinner on a Tuesday. The service was OK; the food was OK. What I found to be the rudest experience I’ve ever had while dining out was when server started to turn out the lights around our table at 8:55pm. The restaurant’s posted hours state open until 10:00pm. Had she suggested that we continue our conversation at the bar, I wouldn’t have been put off. But, there was another group near us and we all walked out. How can I possibly recommend Amis to a friend after that experience? Really poor form.
