Run, don't walk to Amilinda for what many consider Milwaukee's most creative and well-executed International cuisine. The preparations are always fresh, interesting, and lively. The small menu is kept that way so that everything comes out as planned, with terrific focus from chef Gregory Leon. The meats are locally sourced, so you won't find better pork chops or a superior hanger steak anywhere.
This place is like GOLD. The chef is hands on and in full view and does amazing things with food!
The food was creative and nicely presented. The service was competent. There were, however, several things which made the overall experience go sideways. First, upon entering the restaurant my native Spanish speaking wife was offended by a vulgar Spanish word on the Happy April message board behind the bar--not something she wanted to read anywhere, never mind at a restaurant for a date night dinner. Next, the dressings on the salads seemed, to our palates, too brash--perhaps the vinegar was too strong. Third, few could pass by my chair without bumping it--sort of like being on a airplane with the kid behind you randomly kicking your seat. Had the message board not been offensive and our table been positioned out of the traffic flow, I suspect we would want to go back.
Food was excellent! Would come here again! Thank you so much!
Excellent Food! My husband and I love to go here! Fresh Food and excellent staff.
Awesome. Food, wine and service were excellent. A true neighborhood find.
This was our third time back at Amilinda, and once again did not disappoint! The ambiance transports you to Spain and the food is delicious. The entree options have been different with each trip back, and have been fantastic thanks very time! And don’t get me started on dessert, just SOO good.
I always love dining at Amilinda. It was a cold night and we had a front table. We asked if their was a way to secure the door and the server moved us but stayed with us as our server. It was more than we asked for and her customer service remained superb. I truly love the food, service and think the owner is wonderful!
Original decor and creative menu, however limited options available: 1 chicken, 1 beef, etc so definitely wish there was more. We felt like we were in another country. Near theatre area and walkable. Very small place but would return.
Lovely dinner- from the octopus carpaccio and white anchovy salad to entrees of trout plancha, African chicken and beautifully cooked steak, to the brownie with popcorn ice cream(!).
Fantastic cocktails, cheese board and entrees. I was sad we had no room for the fabulous desserts!!!
The food was delicious and the servers were attentive. Fun atmosphere and lots of drinks to choose from. We sat at the bar, so we could watch the meals being prepared. Will definitely go back.
Amilinda was the perfect place for a casual business meeting. The server was attentive and food came out hot, moist, tender, and full of flavor
Always a unique and delicious selection that can't be found anywhere else. A true gem in Milwaukee!
Nice ambience and pleasant servers. Cocktails and wine were great. The food was a B to B+ tonight. The veggie dish left much to be wanted- bland with an over salted kale salad. The chicken dish was very well prepared. However the accompanying arugala salad was not so harmonious.
Dined at Amilinda before a show and loved it! What a gem. Unique atmosphere with lots of artwork from Spain and Portugal. Interesting, and delicious food. We had the Spanish Shrimp with coconut rice and smokey Spanish paprika , Sausage and Chorizo, and the pork chop. They were all excellent and had Spanish flavors infused in the recipes. We will definitely be back to try more of the menu!
Wonderful meal- amazing food and service
Great wine selection, cocktails and charcuterie board. The entree selection I chose left a lot to be desired. I had a sausage dish that had way too many long micro greens and I wish it had a bread slice to sop up the delicious sauce. I left hungry.
Had dinner with friends, pace was great if you want to spend time conversing. Staff was friendly and helpful especially when it came to wine choices .
Amilinda was a great recommendation by a friend who is local to Milwaukee. She definitely knows great meals when she finds them. My wife and I each order a cheese tomatillo for a starter, which was a featured appetizer. My wife ordered the vegetarian dish (du jur) that was such a generous portion that we felt bad not being able to eat more of it there, but was a great take out for yesterday. I had the seared hangar steak. The temperature was absolutely spot. Served with potatoes and root veggies, it was the sort of meal you just wish that your favorite place around the corner served.
I can't recommend Amilinda more highly. Overlook it to your own peril.
Amilinda never disappoints! Outstanding food, great cocktails.
Great food, good service, tasty cocktails, free parking validation what more could you ask for?
Thoroughly enjoyed our appetizer of baked cheese curds, along with our entrées of seafood rice and carcamusa. Looking forward to a return visit.
Super friendly waitress who was happy to help us. She even brought tastes of wines for our friend to decide on one
We had a lovely meal. Good food, very flavorful. Service was good, warm and friendly.
The food was fresh, creative and delicious!
My friend had a wonderful cocktail - my old-fashioned was mediocre, as was my entree. But my out-to-town friends really enjoyed it.
Fabulous meal! I wish I was here another night to try the other. Items on the menu. The staff and chef Greg are warm and inviting!
Great service, food was OK (pork seemed to be missing some flavor and duck empanadas were bland without the chimichurri sauce), decent wine, but sadly the 2-person table setup put us in between two couples whose conversations and demeanors were a distraction. It was worth a try.
The food was delicious and we love the ambiance. We’ll be back soon.
This is a wonderful do not miss restaurant. Do not miss it!
Amazing food and wine!
Ate at Amilinda for a business meal and was underwhelmed. I'd requested a quiet table to facilitate conversation and was delighted to see they sat us at a table set a bit away from the rest, which was great. The atmosphere was OK, a bit more casual than I was expecting, and the service was good. I was a just a bit unimpressed by the food, as were the others in our party. I had the only seafood dish on the menu, seafood rice, which had clams, mussels, shrimp, and a white fish on rice. The mussels and clams were small but tasted fine and the other fish were OK. Rice tasted good. But for the price, more fish and less rice would have been welcome. The flavors were fine, but nothing special. My colleagues had the rabbit and thought it was OK. Not a bad meal at all, but not as great as I'd expected.
The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. They gave good tips on food and wine.
Overall very pleased.
Consistently this place is always amazing! A great restaurant for unique flavors and food as their menu is always changing. Also a good wine list and cocktail selections.
Amazing food! Great service! Even a superb vegan option for my friend. Definitely coming back!
Small menu but perfectly executed! We will return and would recommend!
Creative food, helpful servers , European ambiance, relaxed atmosphere
Love the caracamusa!!! So much flavor
