Service was fair - food was okay.
Bus boy brought water to the table in a large bottle and did not offer to pour it.
Fish soup was ordered with mussels which were not in the dish - waiter said the chef was not including them
in the "soup".
Folks at the next table ordered pasta with mussels after our order was served. They got the mussels.
My friend got sick the next day - we both ordered the lamb chop starter. Not sure what made her ill.
This is in the old Dolce building. Was surprised that Dolce closed and did not hear anything about this new place.
That said - all was wonderful but a bit expensive.
The food and service were excellent, most especially the fresh bread and fried artichokes!
We had high hopes, but won't be going back. It was like they had never run a restaurant before - service was poor and nearby tables were piled high with dirty dishes. It took over 15 minutes to just get a glass of water, and when we ordered a bottle of wine, a single glass arrived. As for the food, it was average at best. Whatever you do, don't order the gnocchi. My 25 year old son could not even eat it and ending up eating half of my wife's tortellini.
Wonderful bartenders. Very accommodating, good food. Lovely restaurant
The pizza was amazing. Everyone in our party truly enjoyed their food.
Unfortunately, it’s not the same as before and not in a good way. I came here many times when it was Dolce, and the food was much better. Everything now is way too salty and what we received and ate, wasn’t worth the price. It’s trying to be a fancy 4 star restaurant, with the decor and ambiance, which is what it used to be, but the food reminds me of a 2 star restaurant. It felt like I was at a chain restaurant and based on the menu, like I was at Buca de Bepo.
This was my first time dining at this establishment. The decor and ambiance were very nice. I love the portraits of the beautiful ladies eating spaghetti. Very cute and charming! Our server was attentive and polite. My low stars are for the food. Our pizza was burned to a crisp. The crust, pepperoni and the bottom were all black. I couldn’t believe that a chef would hand black pizza to a server and that the server would actually serve it. My husband was polite and said they recently opened so maybe it’s a learning curve and he ate it! We also had the beet salad which was delicious. My advice is stick to the salads.
Nice atmosphere for a casual dinner with great food.
The starter salad was wilted . Food unimaginative
Overall would come again. Service was fantastic. Food was good and ambiance was there.
New owners, same menu. Food was very good and fresh except one salad which was wilted. However, wait staff seemed very confused. Waiter didn’t know the meals without reading ingredients, wait staff seemed confused. When asked to share a salad, came with no extra plates and when asked, came back with bread plates..., twice....
Selected a wine from the menu, didn’t have it and substituted another for it. Brought coffee and no cream (pretty basic stuff). Did provide a free birthday dessert for the table which was nice. Good food so will wait to see if they can solve the waiter training issues...
Ladies night, awesome time! Sat on the patio enjoying live music on a beautiful summer night. Split a bunch of apps and you gotta try the “I Lean Martini” - a skinny girl ‘s delight ❤️ New owners are Killlin it!!!
Server did not provide us with recommendations despite us asking several times. He described the food and how it was made but didn't really help us navigate the menu. We had to request bread be served three times before we finally got it at the same time as our meal. We also asked for freshly grated Parmesan cheese (seems like every Italian restaurant should have this) but they only had a salt shaker with grated cheese like Pizza Hut. Pasta didn't seem to be made fresh in house, and our waiter told us the tortellini was store bought. Food was good, but nothing memorable.
The noise level in the restaurant was so high that it was challenging to have a conversation. The food was ordinary, nothing special. We are not going back.
Extremely high noise level, sitting at a table for four we were barely able to hold discussion. Frequently having to ask the person across the table to repeat themselves. But outstanding food
The new management (recently changed from Dolce) was generous enough to honor my passport card because the old management used to. For the record, I would have understood completely had they denied it. But as a consequence of taking one of the four entrees off the bill they added a non negotiable 18% tip on the pre discounted total. Generally that's what I tip, but I did not appreciate having no option, and frankly, our service did not warrant it. Also, when asked, one of the four of us mentioned to the server that he did not care for his meal (it did seem different from the menu description) the server acted as if he did hot hear the remark. One of us had to ask for the wine she ordered well after everyone else got theirs. And my personal pet peeve: the server cleared plates before all parties were finished eating, leaving one person with a plate in front of them eating alone. Very uncomfortable.
Good restaurant for taking our dog on outside patio.
Predecessor Dolce was excellent. Same chef, I am told, but the menu was dumbed-down and not as interesting. OK, but nothing like the original
The refreshed dining room and menu are excellent.
excellent dinner great service-they didn't rush us at all. the new octopus appetizer was wonderful. loved the Portobello fries , too, nice pasta choices and excellent pizza. would go back in a minute. nice outdoor patio dining, too
Great ambiance and a place for lunch with friends!
Excellent food! Excellent service! Unique wine menu.
Good food, good service, nice ambience! Nice place for a date, dinner with girlfriends, or even a family dinner seated on there outdoor patio. You can't really go wrong!
Our food was fine - the lamb chop appetizer was very good. Service was poor. We were able to get the attention of wait-staff, but I don't think we should have had to ask for silverware and serving utensils repeatedly. "pony-tail girl" was more into flipping her hair around than paying attention to her customers. We are two wine-savvy women and were very disappointed in the wine list. The markups are large for what is offered. I consider this a neighborhood casual dining spot, not a fine dining experience. We were prepared to order a bottle of wine, but why would we do that when the cost of 4 glasses was $20 LESS than the cost of a bottle. In the industry the cost of a bottle is usually a bit lower. Who did that math? There are too many other good options to merit a repeat dining experience. Too bad!
They have changed their menu and the kids pasta is now half the size. Barely enough to fill a toddler let alone a 10 year old. They are clearly cutting corners on some of the service items. They food and staff are still great just seems like they are trying to cut costs but it’s impacting value.
I had been here two other times and the food/service was just so so....BUT this time...It was AWESOME! the pasta was melt in your mouth yummy! They were really great about paying attention to my allergy. Our waiter was wonderful!
We’ve gone here many times and this last experience was unusual because the pasta was undercooked.
Amazing food and service! Loved wine bottles at 50% off! I’ll be back in a few more weeks with 2 other wine lovers!
Food was fine, service so-so, friendly, but just the bare minimum, never refilled water, never offered more drinks, didn’t offer bread (other tables had it), didn’t pour olive oil for the bread, didn’t tell us what cheeses were on the cheese board, or what the sauces were. We really liked their sister property, but this place didn’t have the service we expected for dropping well over $100/pp.
Food was so-so. Service and wine were good.
We've had many good meals at Dolce, and particularly like the patio option with our dogs. Nice menu, great service.
This place had a very nice ambience, cozy and friendly. We order a cheese place and an entree. The 3 of us liked our food a lot.
We had such a good meal here. I would recommend this place to anyone.
I have been here several times and have always really enjoyed the food. This last time was a real disappointment. We were placed in the square back room that has no ambiance and the food was all completely different. I guess the menu had changed and we didn't hear about it until after we had ordered. Our favorite buratta salad was drenched in olive oil and was not good. We mentioned this to the waitress and she was not very understanding. I will try the restaurant again and hope that we have a better meal
I keep going back to Dolce and have never been disappointed. The atmosphere is welcoming and comfortable. The service is always perfect as is the food.
Great food and great service
Lighting in restaurant is terrible. Basically sit in dark.
Food was great but service was slow. It took forever for our entrees to come out after the appetizers. Wasn't very busy so I'm not sure what the issue was, maybe staffing? I'll go back and hope things move faster. All our entrees were delicious!
Everything was wonderful with the exception of fruit flies fighting for the entrees the last two times we ate here. Food is the best I have had anywhere near Carmel valley.
Went for our anniversary which we marked on the reservation and although it was not acknowledged by the restaurant the real issue was the knats flying throughout the restaurant. When the wine was opened the knats started coming in and around the food and drinks at our table.
We asked the waitress if we could move and she stated that the entire restaurant was full of these flying pests and she blamed construction activities in the local area. Yea!!!
After that stupid excuse we picked the rest of the knats out of our wine glasses, drank quickly and left.
Will not return or ever recommend.
