Delicious food and excellent service. Enjoyed the experience.
This restaurant is excellent! Not need to drive to D.C for Italian food anymore.
The staff were friendly, attentive & efficient and the food was delicious!
With our bottle of Vermentino, we had the gnocchi w/ porcini & shrimp , and the monk fish wrapped in prosciutto...it was just scrumptious!!!
Looking forward to our next visit. It's a wonderful & charming place.
Excellent... authentic Italian food.
Amici Miei was a favorite of ours when it was in its earlier location. Its move to downtown Rockville has reduced its size considerably, shifted the emphasis in its menu to pizza, and elevated its prices. The food has not correspondingly improved - while the pasta was good as always, the Bolognese sauce was lackluster, and the lamb steak was very tough indeed. It is not totally fair to compare ambiance, as there was a wine tasting going on at the end of our meal, but prior to that beginning - the restaurant felt cramped and noisy. We were, quite frankly, disappointed that a neighborhood favorite had lost its attraction.
Portions small, food very average at best. Bread terribly salty. Poor wine options.
We had the buffet, and we enjoyed it. I think I'll order a special meal off the menu next time. The wine and dessert menus were extensive, and I thoroughly enjoyed the cappuccino I ordered. I don't recall his name, but I appreciated how hospitable our waiter was. He made sure our parking ticket was validated. I enjoyed listening to the staff speak to each other in Italian.
We had 3 different entrees: lamb chops branzino, veal piccata. All were well done & very tasty. The Amici Miei salad was only fair. I would not order again. The bean soup that are husbands had was good. We had 2 desserts: ricotta pastry & a saffron cake. The service was good & we weren’t rushed at all. When I order wine, if it’s new, I always ask for a small taste to be sure. I’ve never had a waiter say no. I was told no & to make my choice. I found that annoying. We also discovered that although they validate for 2 hours, if you go over that, it’s $4/hour for each hour afterward. In the rest of Rockville, it’s $1 after the 2 hour validation. That’s pretty steep for paid parking in Rockville. Puts the pressure on to eat in less than 2 hours.
Highly recommend Amici Miei. As long time patrons, we are never disappointed with the food, and the service always makes us feel as though we are visiting a friend's home. The new location is cosy, although the parking situation can be a bit tight. All in all, a special place to dine and meet with friends and family.
If you want delicious food and pleasant servers, this is the place to go. If you want ambiance and quiet, this is not the place to go. It is a good place to go with children or friends. I highly recommend this place unless you want quiet ambiance.
The food was great
A real letdown. The restaurant had no personality. The calamari was poor quality and undercooked. The chicken parmigiana was OK. The seafood pasta was disappointing. The salad was made up of the white part of the romaine that I would have discarded, and tasted like refrigerator. The bread was nothing to write home about. The chianti had a definite mold taste. Thank goodness for the San Peligrino. Two meals not worth $90+.
Amici Miei has become our favorite neighborhood restaurant. Always consistent with good service and good cooking.
Very much enjoyed our dining experience at Amici Miei on Valentines Day 2019. We were seated immediately and didn't feel rushed. Great food and excellent service on one of the busiest nights of the year. Bravo!
Amici Miei has become our favorite local place for dinner. What makes it special is a combination of the food (which ranges from very good to excellent) and the warmth of the owners and service staff (e.g., Matt is great!). We've had some wonderful food there (most recently a wild boar stew on top of pureed winter root vegetables), and always feel welcome and appreciated. We celebrated Valentine's Day there! I have just two requests: more vegetarian dishes (especially pasta dishes) and better wines by the glass.
We used to like this restaurant, but this was the first time we were disappointed. I've ordered "grilled lamb steak", and this turned out to be a big mistake. The piece of meat that was served clearly was re-processed from small cuts glued into a bigger piece, half of which was bones (sadly, this technology for making fake meat is now becoming more popular). Some steaks are supposed to have bones, but this one contained a big joint, most likely a knee. So it was not steak at all, but rather odd pieces of a shank glued together. It could have been better used in stew, rather than presented as "steak". My wife's fish was OK, but the Valentine day dinner turned out to be not what we've expected.
Overall friendly people. Food was good, but should have warned about the bones in the fish. I was alergic to seafood and I think my ceasar salad had seafood croutons. Overall though it was a nice place for valentines at a fairly decent price.
We really enjoyed our meal. The staff was friendly and attentive. The Bronzino was delicious. So was the lasagna and the Margherita pizza. We’ll definitely be back
Recommended for the excellent food - delicious, attractively plated, and good selection. The food seemed to be slightly innovative but could be just that the restaurant specializes in Sardinian tastes which may not be as well-known as the 'regular' pizza and spaghetti. Food was a little slow coming out of the kitchen, but the wait staff was attentive and kept the full dining room well-taken care of.
The food was fantastic and tasty. The service was great. The bill was a bit pricey for Rockville so I won't be going as frequently as I like. Be prepared to park in the lot in front and get your ticket validated.
The food was delicious, but the waiter rushed us at every step. He took my wine glass before I had finished. It wasn't like the table was going to get a second seating since our reservation was at 7:30. Just unnecessary.
We"ve been coming here for years. The new location is just as good as the last. The food is consistently good, as is the service. The host/owner always makes you feel as if you are a guest in his home.
Ordered osso buco, monkfish, and veal ravioli. Osso buco was good, but the other dishes were decent. For the price, could’ve been a little better. Went for my mother’s birthday, and told the owner. The restaurant brought out a tiramisu with a candle on it, but didn’t sing “happy birthday” and also still charged for the tiramisu. Not a big deal. Over all, average place.
Nice place with excellent service.
As always great.
The food was delicious and the presentation of the food was excellent.
Excellent Service and Food, very glad we went to their new location.
My husband and I have dined here on numerous occasions, and the food and service are consistently excellent. My husband often gets The Sardinian pasta dish - his fav - and I got the bronzino - which was fabulous.
A warm welcome by the owner and attentive service by Matt made this a great evening. Nice menu with Sardinian focus, which sets this restaurant apart from the rest of the Italian restaurants. This was our first visit after a friend who traveled to Sardinia recommended it. Located close to Rockville Town Center and a quick drive from Bethesda.
Lamb chop and saffron pappardelle w/shrimp and fish were delicious. My fussy daughter devoured her couscous and meatballs. Matt was a great server -attentive but not hovering. Great recommendations on desserts -twin cannolis and tiramisu. We’ll be back! Grazie!
The Sardinian specialities and the saffron cake were wonderful at this friendly neighborhood place.
Loved the ox tail.
We always enjoy our dining experience at Amici Miei! The homemade pasta is delicious and I tried the grilled octopus over lentils...yum!
Had a wonderful meal. We all had pasta and loved ever bite! Can’t wait to go back.
Food and service were good. We had a nice time.
Food was good but not great. Skip the calamari appetizer. Below ordinary and ours was under cooked. The deserts were excellent. Entrees were average and not presented well. Pizza was better than entrees.
Always a welcome place. Owner greats you to at the door and brings unexpected treats to the table. Delicious food and warm and helpful service.
Food was great with some unique dishes from Sardinia try the pecarino cheese and finish off with a mirto a native liquor from Sardinia the owner likes to chat and we shared a few memories from our trip to Sardinia a few years who
We have been dining in here when they were still in Potomac, nothings change with the food, service..always excellent ..love this place.
The food was outstanding. My husband and I ordered the specials. One was a seafood pasta dish and the other one was the wild boar. It was our first time having dinner at Amici Miei and we will definitely return.
