We were seated promptly and the delivery of the appetizers was as well. The delivery of the entres was woefully slow, and the margarita pizza one of us had was mediocre at best. The other of us ordered the grilled red snapper which was done well. Because of an understanding mixup, the accompanying pasta that was substituted for potatoes was not brought with the broccoli. He was told that when one substitutes pasta for the menu sides, it replaces both of them. We won't go back there.
What a great neighborhood restaurant! Unfortunately, they moved from our neighborhood so we have to make a little bit more of an effort to dine, but always worth it. Still the same consistent execution of their wonderful dishes and now even featuring some amazing Sardinian wines on a regular basis.
Great food, friendly service, an all around great meal.
Main dishes were good. Pizza just ok. Grilled octopus wasn’t grilled and chewy. Caesar salad no flavor. Server seemed to be in a rush and annoyed when we weren’t ready to put in our entree order. Wasn’t attentive seemed to just want to leave for the night and get us out quickly.
Great! Welcoming restaurant.
The food was delicious. The veal scallopini was tender and the pasta was perfect. The service was wonderful and attentive.
We were in town from PA and wanted an Italian dinner. Found restaurant on line and reviews were good so we went there. A bit surprised by location and size but went in and had a DELICIOUS meal with excellent service. We were warmly welcomed by the staff. Don’t be put off by looks of restaurant - go for the food!! We’ll certainly go back when in town again.
NIce Italian restaurant in strip center in downtown Rockville. Food was pretty good and prices were reasonable for the area. Ambiance not good...extremely loud, hard to talk.
A very enjoyable dining experience and consistently wonderful service. From the warm greeting by Roberto to the table servers, the service and hospitality make this place special. We tend to try the daily specials, and this visit did not disappoint. Highly recommended.
I usually order from the regular menu but we tried the lunch buffet. It was very very disappointing. Much rather go to other Itailian lunch buffets in the area. They need to step it up if this is $11.99. Mussels were almost empty. Best part about the meal was dessert which was from the regular menu.
The special Veal Ravioli was outstanding! Also ordered a pizza that was also so very yummy. Sauce was very good, a sweeter sauce. Wasn’t tart. The ravioli was in a “sauce” made from the veal stock. Truly fantastic. Will definitely be back.
If you are not looking to impress someone with the venue, this is a very good choice for dinner with friends and family. Location is odd and entry is very tired, but food is great and interesting choices.
Ambience was great for a romantic meal. Italian authenticity was on par. Parking was convenient with validation.
Amici Miei is always a satisfying, rewarding experience. The service is excellent, helpful and professional and the Sardinian specialties, in particular, are outstanding, as are the Sardinian wines. Roberto, the owner and overseer runs a truly professional and friendly establishment with waiters trained in the correct continental style, where they know how everything is made, are willing to make some changes and accommodate half portions, if requested, and (from my perspective) are not overly faux-familiar. I don't have to know my server's name, nor do I wish him/her to interrupt my conversation with my dinner companions by asking "Is everything O.K.?" every 10 minutes, two things unique to U.S. waiters and waitresses. These are real professional servers thanks to Roberto's running a tight ship. I'm so happy they're in Rockville and accessible.
Good service and consistently delicious meals. Very friendly staff in an easy-to-talk atmosphere.
Wanted a home style Italian restaurant and was not disappointed.
My wife and I brought my daughter, a part-time food blogger who lives in LA, here for the first time. She loved everything we ordered and was surprised the bill, which included a bottle of wine, was so reasonable, considering the food was awesome. Everyone there were as cordial and and friendly as usual. Would definitely go back there.
Very nice restaurant. Service was excellent. Will definitely come back
The food is excellent, whenever we are in town to visit friends we always go to Amici Miei.
The braised duck was delicious so the Mediterranean sea bass. You must try the malloreddus pasta it's a winner among my nieces! Always looking forward to next visit. A friendly service in quaint atmosphere.
J'adore ce restaurant!!!
We went to Amici Miei because we just came back from Italy and we were craving for Italian food. Excellent food and great service. This is the best Italian restaurant around. We will definitely be back.
Good food. Average service.
We felt the food at the old establishment was better. This was OK, but there was no lemonade, no steak sauce, and no ice for the drinks. And the veal had no taste.
We have been going to this restaurant for years, both in its old location and now in downtown Rockville, and we have always enjoyed the food and wine and appreciated the fact that we didn't have to go into DC to get a good meal. Thus in planning to meet up with friends this past Sunday evening, we had no hesitation in suggesting Amici Miei. But the food was so bad that we were really embarrassed. I don't know if they have a different chef on Sundays or what, but what we ate was simply unrecognizable. I had braised duck that was overcooked, full of small bones, and smothered in tasteless gloppy sauce. My husband had pasta with seafood that was rubbery and also smothered in some sort of irrelevant sauce. Our friends had fish and did not seem very pleased with it, though they were too polite to say so. Our waiter was polite and helpful but too overworked to be very attentive, as he also was also serving as bartender and had only one busperson to assist him. Perhaps the ownership has changed hands? Something is off--and the prices are, if anything, higher than ever. Very disappointed!!!
Excellent food. The wait staff was really good. I will definitely go back again.
This is a neighborhood gem!! Truly authentic and delicious Italian food. Easy parking in a little lot exclusively for this and a couple other restaurants.
Wonderful service, too!!!
This is a consistently delightful neighborhood Italian restaurant. All the staff members are welcoming and helpful.
Delicious food, friendly staff, warm ambiance and great location
Always a pleasure! Family friendly.
The food is good and the service is friendly. We've been so many times they know us, and they could tell you exactly what I'm going to order. They have many wonderful menu items and specials that my husband and son are always trying, but I keep going back for the grilled salmon with salmoriglio sauce, which is always made to perfection. I think I've tried grilled salmon in every restaurant I've been to, but nobody makes it like Amici Miei!
This was a wine dinner—-multiple courses each paired with a wine from the Veneto-Friuli region of Italy. Each course was a gem. Flavorful but subtle. The wines were well matched and each was distinctive. Don’t miss the next one! Meanwhile enjoy everyday dining at Amici Miei in Rockville.
I am a pescatarian. Not a lot of choices. I had already eaten salmon and trout that week.
Excellent food and service. Good value. Nice ambiance
Great meal for our last day in BA
I think the food is overpriced.
Having returned from Italy, our standards are fairly high, but this does not account for the inconsistency of the pasta -- some pieces still hard and raw, others 'al dente' and others almost mushy. It seems like the chef either used an inadequate quantity of water or failed to stir the pasta after it went into the water. The sauce was tasty, but hard to enjoy with the crunch of the pasta. My husband reports that his gnocchi were good and if we had all ordered that dish, we'd probably give a higher score. The ricotta cake with honey was tasty but nothing special. The Prosecco was sweeter than I like; the Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, a red, was good.
We visited Amici Miei for the first time on Mother's Day. My wife and I both ordered pasta dishes which were excellent. Our daughters ordered pizza and pasta, which they both liked as well. The restaurant had a nice crowd but wasn't outrageously busy, yet we waited almost 10 minutes for someone to come to our table once we sat down and had to ask several times for things like a dessert menu and finally our check. We'll probably give it one more try since the food was so good, but hopefully the service will be better otherwise it will be our last visit.
Although we made a reservation late on Mother's Day, we were treated like honored guests. The patrone put my husband's dinner under the warming lights while he went to feed the meter--very thoughtful. All the food was delicious, the variety was wide, and the wine recommendation spot-on. We will return.
Delicious meal. The place was nearly empty when we arrived at 9:30. Quiet!. Service was attentive and friendly. Felt the prices were al little high compared to most Italian restaurants nearby as the salads were al-a-carte. Also, ordered a pasta dish without the shrimp but were still charged the full price. Thought it should have been closer to the price of the other pasta dishes on the menu. Again, delicious meal!
