We've been back multiple times, for brunch and dinner, and can honestly say there isn't anything on the menu we didn't enjoy.
We recommend starting with the Calabaza, especially if you like risotto. The Mejillones is a solid second choice, and we recommend a second order of bread to the broth. So worth it.
Last, but certainly not least, we ended with th Asada and the lamb shank. Six dishes fed the four of us perfectly.
To close out the night, just get all three desserts and share. You won't regret it.
A special shoutout to Wally and the all of the service staff. You guys made it a great night. We'll see you on Saturday for brunch and that lamb shank skillet!
When the plate came
On the tongue taste good
When I bit into it a great 2nd smell
Food prepared by chef, Armando, was excellent. Our waiter was great as well. The only thing was that the tables are so close to each other...it’s not really romantic enough for dates. While we had a pleasant exchange with other patrons across our tables, I’d prefer more intimate ambiance.
Friends get together
The food was outstanding. Truly. This was a fun, unique dining experience. Definitely a neighborhood gem. Can’t wait to take friends and family here!
Not as amazing at it usually is. I was a bit disappointed there weren't specials for NYE
Excellent and creative Latin dishes. The pulpo was excellent as was the stuffed veggie cabassa. We have been there several times, and has always been excellent.
Really good food but overloaded service, lack of attention to detail and worst yet, not attending to patron's needs diminishes the dining experience. Take out might be best.
Superb food, delightful wait staff. A neighborhood gem that our guests (from California) could not stop raving about. We'll be back often.
Food is delicious and service excellent. Recommend to all.
The food is amazing at this place. I would highly recommend it.
We had an amazing experience. They perfectly spaced all of our food out so we weren’t bursting at the seams by the time we left. The cauliflower appetizer was to die for- along with all of our other dishes (pulpo, steak). We will definitely be back
We were in oak park to see the frank Lloyd Wright homes and an auction at Toomey. This restaurant, Amerikas, is Nuevo Latino style, was recommended by a friend. The menu was limited, but we found items to try. I think it is challenging because most people don’t eat meat. The tofu, beans and guacamole dish was delicious. We also did the arugula and cauliflower salad. It was not over dressed and very fresh. The service was good, but food to table time seemed longer than necessary. The manager or owner gave us a free Latino coffee. That was nice of him. Apologies do wonders. I would go back because the food was authentic tasting.
Love this place. the dishes are delicious and interesting
We met friends there. It was a repeat visit for my husband and me, first time for our out-of-town friends. The table was comfortable, I don't remember any problem with noise after we requested that the music be turned down. The food was delicious. All-in-all a really fun and satisfying evening.
We absolutely live this place. We moved away from the area but took the train back recently just to eat here. The taquitos and the polpo are our favorite but everything on the menu is fabulous. And the service is always top notch.
Amerikas is a Latin fusion restaurant. The menu is small but covers all of the bases. Everything is delicious and carefully prepared. We would readily recommend this restaurant to anyone in the Oak Park area looking for a good meal carefully prepared at a good price point.
Good food good service that’s all you have to say
Everything about this restaurant was exceptional. The cocktails, the wine, food and service were all outstanding. Among the cocktails, the Oaxaquena was lovely, with smoky mezcal, and not too sweet. Likewise with the margarita with a hint of Serrano pepper. We ordered 4 items for sharing amongst the four of us. All were very good, particularly the Carne Asada, the Barramundi and the Chili Relleno. Erick (yes, with both the c and the k) took care of us. He was very attentive without being overbearing. He suggested a red wine that my wife and son preferred to the one I had selected. They and Erick were right. The wine was indeed an exceptional accompaniment for the meal. We loved Amerikas. Their menu is creative and has items for all palates.
We will be back, soon.
Warm and inviting atmosphere, attentive service and delicious flavorful food. The chocolate dome was the perfect ending to a wonderful experience!
Two of us ordered four entrees. All were creative and excellent. Very sharable. The chile relleno was huge and one of the best I have ever had.
Be careful in following the menu's advice about ordering two entrees per person. The entries are larger than the typical tapas. One entree may be plenty unless you are really hungry or want to take leftovers home.
Extremely unique approach to fine dining, fresh food, great service, great ambiance, simple but amazing. Highly recommended..........Can't wait to go back for brunch.
I was very impressed with the food. The presentation for chille rellenos was amazing. The folks next to us ordered it when they saw ours and heard us raving about the flavors. The interesting combination of ingredients was unique and delicious. Well worth a visit.
Try the chocolate dome -- it captivated my out of town guest as I knew it would.
Amerikas has really high quality food- well prepared, creative, seasoned dishes-- they are in the top 3 in Oak Park. Cant go wrong.
That Barramundi was the best thing I've eaten this year.
Perfect place to share plates and enjoy a good portion of the menu. The scallops, barbacoa, and octopus were all great.
Food was amazing, beautiful presentation. Nice warm atmosphere- great for a date or just dinner with the girls.
Food is delicious - fresh ingredients and such good flavors! Fantastic drinks and just really good service - my favorite place in Oak Park!
The seating at our table was not very comfortable, but the food and service and overall ambiance was incredible. We will go again!
We went to Amerikas for our 14th Wedding Anniversary and our server made sure it was a memorable night. The food and the wine he recommended were delicious together.
Always a great experience with excellent food!
Excellent food and service!
I don't know where to begin so I guess the best place is the beginning. I had the limon margarita and it was the perfect blend. For the first plate we had the scallops and black rice and there are no words that I can use to describe the flavors you are in for with this dish. I just simply do not have the vocabulary to describe the celebration that will happen in your mouth. Then we had barbacoa, the lamb was so tender it will melt in your mouth. The white rice and salsa verde are the perfect combination. And the finale was the asada perfectly cooked and tender topped with fries. Don't take my word for it though and don't walk, RUN to try this place. Our server, Eric was nice and informative. He presented each dish and we felt terrible making a 10:30 reservation when they close at 11:00 so I asked for a cappuccino and dessert to go but he wouldn't have it so we stayed and at it here. Yes here I am writing this review while having dessert because I don't want to leave out a thing. Armando, the chef came out and spoke to us introducing himself asking how everything was. From the bar to the service to the kitchen our experience was amazing. There was nothing more they could have done to make our experience any better. We'll be back soon and often.
The food is full of flavor. They had fall vegetables based dishes that was delicious. Butter adds to the flavor. The fish, barramundi, was fresh with crisp skin. It was quiet if the music was turned down. Definitely worth a visit.
The food was unique and delicious! We enjoyed every bite. Our server was very friendly and helpful. We’ll definitely be back!
A little embarrassed it's taken us so long to check this restaurant out since it's about 5 blocks from my house. SO happy we did. Food was wonderful from the amuse bouche soup to the recommended chili rellenos and whole branzino. Our server, Erick, was personable, very knowledgeable about menu items and cocktails alike. He also directed me to a great glass of wine which I enjoyed with my branzino. In addition they treated us to a lovely dessert in honor of our anniversary. There have been several restaurants in this location over the years and the reason it took me awhile to try this one is I don't love the space. It's long and narrow making for a bit of a noisy setting. When we dined the noise level was energetic but not distracting. Not sure if perhaps this restaurant has done something the others did not to absorb sound. Cocktails were amazing and as mentioned all the food items were a hit with both my husband and myself. Would definitely recommend Amerikas and plan to return soon.
We had an incredible time at Amerikas. The food and flavor profiles were just fantastic. Our server was very helpful in helping us navigate the menu and putting together a fantastic meal and drink pairings. We will absolutely be going back again!!
we had the hummus, taquitos and chocolate bomb. all three were so delicious that we have ordered them the last four times that we have gone here, and go there specifically for these dishes. I can't wait to go back.
