Amerigo - Cool Springs Ratings and Reviews
Our server was very attentive. The bread and olive oil with herbs was delicious - fresh and warm. The food, however, was disappointing. The veal piccata consisted of a small mound of pasta with veal medallions that were chewy, lots of mushrooms, some capers, all swimming in way too much sauce. The flavor of the sauce was good; however, because the quantity was excessive, neither the presentation nor the taste were appealing. The spaghetti and meatball dish also was disappointing. The person consuming the dish said the sauce was bland and sweet and the meatball tasted of too much dried oregano. The spaghetti was okay - did not seem homemade - something expected for an upscale Italian restaurant. The tiramisu was sitting in two sauces - one bittersweet chocolate that was tasty, and one very runny vanilla sauce - more milk than sauce. Overall, a disappointing meal - won't be back.
Our group had a nice lunch at Amerigos. The place has a somewhat upscale casual dining atmosphere. We had wonderfully attentive service. My guests enjoyed all of their dishes. The burger is huge, as is the turkey wrap. The mussels are very tasty and you receive a good amount. One guest had the chicken marsala and loved it while I had the blackened trout over green beans drizzled with balsamic vinegar and found it excellent.
Normally we love Amerigos. We dine here quite frequently. This was a date night, and we arrived on time, but were informed the only table they had was a back booth in the bar, even though the dining area was empty. Not sure if this was because we are a gay couple, or what. To make maters worse, some rednecks who must have just came from the hollar, decided to throw their dirty coat over on my spouse, and wouldn't move it. WE didn't want to be overly confrontational, so I asked one of the wait staff, a large jolly fellow, to ask them if he could hang up their coat. He thought it was amusing that it was bothering us, and laughed at us. So I asked our waiter the same, he said he would take care of it and proceeded to serve them water, and never said a word about this disgusting smelly jacket. My, meal came, all I could do was stare at this nasty coat. Which made for a horrible experience. I again asked the waiter to do something about it. 10 minutes later the manager came and asked them to move the dirty coat. By this time I was done. This could have all been avoided by offering to hang up the customers coat, and I would have had a good experience. The fact it took longer than 30 minutes for this to be remediated is egregious. Not sure what has happened to this place. You can do much better Amerigos.
Came in from out of town to meet a client for lunch. The staff was friendly and enjoyable, the atmosphere was good both for our business meeting or for a casual lunch with friends. There appeared to be a group in a "private" room having a holiday work lunch as well. My food was very good (shrimp bisque and caesar salad), and my associates and customer all said their food was good as well, one additional salad and two pasta dishes. We also had the spinach artichoke dip appetizer and the server went out of his way (and took the initiative unasked) to bring veggies (in addition to crostini) after one of us simple asked about gluten-free options.
I made an anniversary reservation on-line through Open Table for 6:30 on a Saturday evening. For a romantic experience I requested a booth. We walked through the door at 6:28 and the lobby was already full of waiting customers. I gave my name and we were whisked to our booth, the service was great the food was excellent and the atmosphere was wonderful. I could not have asked for a better dining experience.
My dinner was awful. I ordered Tucson chicken...the chicken was like slimy rubber & the sayce lacked in flavor. I have never sent food back, but this was so bad I had no choice. I then waited more than 15 minutes for someone to check back & take my replacement order, finally we flagged someone down to take my order. Everyone in our party had finished their meals. I then waited another 10+ minutes for my meal to arrive. I ordered the Parmesan chicken w/ white sauce & it was very good. The others in our party's meals were delicious as well. I'm sure my bad experience was not their "norm"...but their lack of quick response to rectify this issue was a big fail.
We were seated within 10 minutes of our reservation time, though it was disappointing that the host took a party of 4 with a later reservation to their table first -- especially since we ended up stuck at the table nearest a kitchen entrance. I fear they saw we had our two middle-school daughters with us and that relegated us to a bad table.
Server was very friendly, prompt, and personable. Soups and entrees were outstanding -- served hot, very generous portions. Tiramisu was the only disappointment, as it was more akin to yellow cake than it was a to an authentic tiramisu.
We dine at Amerigo's about 6 times a year, and the food/service is always top-notch. We'll certainly be back.
Good service and atmosphere. Generous size drinks and portions. A good value. 2nd visit to this location. Favorite menu item had changed, we thought significantly and it was a bit of a disappointment. Guess the old adage of 'you can't go home again" was true. We will go again and we will try something different next time.
