Américas River Oaks
The service was excellent.
Went to Thanksgiving brunch. They had good variety of meats and other type of food like salads , but most meats were cold...they did not place them on a heating panel..also most meats were dry.. the prime Rib was ok, the sirloin was soft once it came out from the grill but 2 minutes later it got cold and rubbery..
The server at the buffet at the meat section kept trying to give you pieces that she pre cut that were very very cold, and hard..so you need to insist that she will cut a new piece of meat for you or you will eat a cold rubber..
The ampanadas were very good, the sweet mashed potato with the dulce de letche was amazing..
Our waiter was very nice..
But for $45 plus tip (Ended up at $60) i expect a lot more..better service, better quality meats..you can go to chama gaucha or any other place that serve meat and pay the same and get a much much much better food...
Great lunch menu. Attentive service. Everything was wonderful.
I was disappointed. It is in our neighborhood and had high expectations. I am not sure how it stays open, had a 7:00 PM reservation and the restaurant was empty, and its a big space so felt odd and lonely rather than entertaining.
The seafood bisque was average and a little bland. I had the 8 oz filet and truffled potatoes. The steak was good, cooked perfectly to medium and nicely spiced. The potatoes were awful! The potatoes were not fully done and swimming in thick cheeses, so just a gooey mess. Not inviting at all.
There are so many other options in River Oaks now, I don't expect that Americas will be around much longer!
Superb food and service as usual.
This was my second time here and it was amazing. Food was delicious!
Americas has always been one of our very favorite eating spots. We use to go there at least once a month. But, now it is empty whether for lunch or dinner which means there is no real live ambiance. Something is missing when a place is empty for the main dining times. K.W.
The food was not made to order. It was re heated and served quickly. I ordered trout with stuffed crab meat. It was not made to order. Everything was warm in temps and subpar.
Came Here this last Saturday to celebrate my birthday dinner with
Friends and our host
gave exceptional customer service making sure my guests and I were taken care of and enjoying
our stay. Would definitely be coming back
The food is always amazing!
Always great, never fails to impress!
Great food, service and ambiance! Highly recommend!
Great food and service
Everything was excellent! From beginning to end...
Great food , love the ambiance! And the decor is amazing!! Tres leches cakes is still #1
We were late for our reservation and in a hurry to get to a play. Despite our lateness, they took great care of us and the ceviche and paella were top notch. Made the play with plenty of time to spare.
The food was amazing and our waiter Pedro was great. Our party truly enjoyed it. We will return when in Houston again.
My daughter ordered a steak "very" rare. It came out medium on parts and beyond on other. We advised waitstaff who offered to replace it. The problem we have with that is waste - we both believe it a total shame to waste the cow's life. (I am vegan; she is not but she has a healthy respect for the loss of life.) We were celebrating her birthday so we got the free cake which was nice but no compensation for getting a steak that was nothing like ordered. (I get they offered to replace it but the better thing would have been to comp her meal or at least greatly reduce the price - if we had allowed it they would have had to cook another steak.) She was disappointed with the steak and I with the way it was handled. (And we go to America's frequently before we attend theater....)
Nice and quiet. Delicious food. Great service. Corn and poblano soup was delicious.
It was a good experience. Loved the food! I just wish we could have sat in the middle section. So next time I’ll request that option!
Dined brunch for large party. Everyone expressed positive comments on food and especially the service. I concur. I offer only excellent remarks for the whole experience. Well done! We will be returning. Highly recommend to all.
Our Server, Shannon, was very helpful and knowledgeable and a pleasure to have serving our table.
A good server makes all the difference in the enjoyment of a meal.
Thank you Shannon!
Service was outstanding.
Food was quite tasty.
Love Houston Restaurant Week and the menu at America's.
Excellent dining experience. Wonderful place to dine with family and friends.
We sat there for 18 minutes without being greeted at the table. I finally got up and went to find someone to get a manager. Server finally came after 25 minutes of us being there and didn’t even introduce himself and was extremely rude. We ordered and our food came out cold so sent it back. This was an extremely disappointing night out and don’t wish this upon anyone ever!!!!
We always wanted to try this restaurant out. We finally took our chance during the Houston’s Restaurant Week for lunch. And we wonder now why in the world we waited so long. Beautiful contemporary and quite unique art decor. Ladies: You have to check out the Ladies’ room! Easy parking in the garage. Great Staff: Very upbeat and attentive. The Mixed Green Salad did not deserve that simple name. It was very tasteful with unique ingredients and a wonderful surprise dressing. The Fish Tacos were delicious and the Churrasco De Pollo is one of the reasons to return. Thank you Americás! We will back for the Wine Dinner, if not sooner.
Get together with friends for HRW-great experience, noise level minimized by decor so we can still have great conversation. The food was outstanding and great value!
Surpassing meal, the new front runner among several Houston institution restaurants sampled during HRW. Two course lunch of beef empanadas and petite churrasco tenderloin followed by tequila bread pudding had my lunch date and I nodding with approval. Still a few days left on HRW but it will take a truly masterful dining experience to dislodge Américas River Oaks from the winners circle!
Great as always.
Love the Americas. Great service and great food.
I did not know they had a brunch On Sunday’s. What a wonderful surprise!!! The brunch consist 80%of what they serve on their daily menu. The selection was incredibly delicious and fresh.
Great food and great service. Our server was Shannon. She was as good as they get.
Went for Houston Restaurant Week. Very busy, which is fine, but service was slow and dinner (trout) was overcooked. Felt like restaurant was understaffed given that it was a busy Saturday night.
The service was lacking and could have been better. Food was terrible. My mother and husband both ordered the churrasco de pollo and the chicken was rubbery. It was either under cooked or old frozen chicken. I had the small filet and it was missing the pepper sauce and was overly salted. My father had the large 8oz churrasco filet and it was definitely not 8oz. All the vegetables were under cooked. Extremely disappointed as we used to be regulars at the old Post Oak location.
We went to America’s in river oaks to participate in restaurant weeks. Everything about the experience was great! We got seated right away, service was amazing, food with prompt, accurate, and hot...and DELICIOUS! Everything we had was so good. It’s always such an amazing experience going to America’s. I highly recommend. We’ll ask for Shannon next time we go too.
Went during Restaurant weeks and the food was terrific! I love the decor. Our waiter was very attentive and informative. A wonderful dinning experience. Hope to return soon.
The food was awesome and portions were generous given the restaurant week promotion. Wait staff was courteous. It was perfect for our team and we had two colleagues from Buenos Aires so they felt right at home.
