I selected this restaurant looking for a quiet atmosphere to have a business conversation over a meal. The food was okay, not overly tasty rather a bit bland. My co-worker had the same experience. I would only return if I need a quiet place again for business but not returning based on food quality.
A great place for cocktails and super delicious appetizers and more. The bar scene is crazy vibrant spilling out on to the huge patio along the Embarcadero, but if you want a quite conversation, you can have dinner in the back of the dining room. Nice spot.
This was a Friday night dinner. The bar was very lively. We sat one table back in restaurant which made it a little more noisy.
I suggest asking for table further back in restaurant. Delicious appetizer of artichoke and brussel sprouts. Mushroom pizza very tasty !
Nice attentive service. Great view of the ferry building. Valet parking.
Great ambiance, excellent service, delicious food!
Not happy with service charge of 20% being added to the bill for just a table of 2. Dirty glasses left on table. Wine pairings brought over to table late. Felt quite rushed. No I taste of marrow in the bone marrow mash. Not worth the money.
Wish there were more tables dedicated for dates besides the tall bar chairs with tiny tables.
I had a magical dinner here. It is a great place. Servers were friendly but not overly present. Food was good.
Food was cold and prime rib overdone. Disappointed.
Remains one of our favorites in SF. Probably the second or third time we've dined there and will keep going back!
I was very pleasantly surprised with the food here. Went here for lunch with coworkers. Had the Brussel/artichoke starter that was delish and good for sharing ! For entrée I had the sausage pizza. Middle was a bit floppy but the flavors were bright and distinctive. Others had grilled cheese and soup combo. The cauliflower soup was especially yummy. Also be sure to ask for bread when you sit down. It comes warm and perfectly crusty on outside and soft in middle, and served with olive oil and basalmic. Very reasonable prices too.
We had a fantastic dinner at Americano Restaurant. Every detail was meticulously handled. Loved the appetizer - a peppers and feta cheese spread on hot grilled bread. The branzino was delicious and beautiful. The "old-fashioned sundae" for dessert was anything but. Especially enjoyed the bitters toffee sauce. Wine list was spendy. The wine we ordered from Freemark Abbey was very enjoyable.
We had our Thanksgiving meal at Americano, and it was wonderful. The food was outstanding and the service was lovely.
I bring guests here frequently because it's easy to visit and the food is very reliable and delicious. Not what one sometimes expects from hotel dining, but this is a very nice exception. The bar can be crazy busy in warm weather and at Happy Hour. I've had the least positive experience then -- so many people and not enough staff. But for a meal, everything is exactly on the money. Grilled cheese and tomato soup on a rainy afternoon was my most recent delicious experience. Great salads and pizza. Good place to bring a client when you need to speak privately.
Service and food were. Outstanding! We’re coming back
I love to have this place for business lunches. Drinks in the evening can be fun but the bar can fill up quickly. Staff is friendly and the menu is simple and reliable. They have a nice $20 express lunch. But the capstone is really the quiet atmosphere which allows easy conversion. Really nice for a business lunch.
Excellent service; despite limited menu, I always find something satisfying.
I was expecting something with better views. The salmon was undercooked and cold.
This is one of my go-to restaurants in downtown SF - lovely on a sunny day for lunch and great dinner spot for our book club. It is spacious, making it easier than in many restaurants to hold a conversation. Also the food is excellent and the staff is attentive.
This place always delivers for a casual businesss meal - easy to converse with guests. Service is well above average, dining room is very comfortable, food is consistent if not super exciting, great location near businesses.
The warm, seasoned olives are great as a first bite!
Americano deserves to be on the radar for good food, specifically at the restaurant. Even when the bar and patio are buzzing, the restaurant is almost always nearly empty or at most half full.
Great food and excellent service. Our server went above and beyond to ensure we were ordering what we really wanted.
Service was excellent. We have been to Americano before & found the food very good We we're very disappointed this time. Food not well thought out. Appearance & taste needed attention
Looked for an Italian restaurant in the Embarcadero. This had good reviews. It was the night before the SF Marathon. Party of 6.
First off, it's not an Italian restaurant. 3 pasta dishes to choose from. Food was good, but the portions were quite small. One person ordered the heirloom tomato salad. There were only 3 slices of tomato on it! My daughter ordered bread as one of the appetizers because it didn't come with the meal! I think we all left there hungry.
I would not go there again. Nor would I recommend it to anyone.
Service was really S L O W.
Not the place for a quick business lunch.
Good for the San Francisco Vibe - Old Street cars go by - view of the Ferry building.
chicken sandwich is very tasty.
For a group of 8 people, I didn't expect to have to chase down the waiter... It was my birthday dinner. Horrible service. The ambiance and food was good though. The tip is included so the waiters don't care.
It was the SF Gay Pride Day Parade. I booked online for 6 guests. We arrived about 20 early for breakfast. It was very busy day, Google have their contingency for the parade participant on the same restaurant out in the patio so there are so many guests but they are all jubilant and celebrating the day. We were seated at our table right away with very friendly host, the server came right away and ordered our meal. The food is fantastic over all, nice portion, fresh and good presentation. The value is great. The ambiance is fresh, nice view, and friendly wait staff.
Definitely recommended for locals or tourist alike.
Good lunch menu options at moderate prices. Great patio seating. Waiter was not attentive on this visit. Most meals well prepared and tasty, however hamburger ordered medium was delivered near raw and inedible. Waiter failed to check in after service, so no chance to fix before lunch time ran out. Appropriate deduction of price from bill, but diner didn't get to eat lunch.
Breakfast is consistent, good quality and tasty. Staff is welcoming and service is good.
This place used to be one of my favorite breakfast spots for business. Food was great, service was great and it was quiet. Went back for the first time in years and looks like it has now been discovered. It's great they're busy but they're now serving mass market style. When I asked to sub fruit or salad for potatoes, which is a basic ask these days given our health conscious lifestyles, I was tersely informed they don't do substitutions. I realized why a short while later because the food came in three minutes... it was so fast that there had to be an assembly line in the back. Check was placed at our table before we finished eating.
You should come here if you're in a rush. They will definitely get you in and out whether you desire that or not.
Service was superb! Fish cooked perfectly! Sauce could use a bit more acid and salt. Appetizers were amazing!!
Amazing mushroom truffle pizza. Great location and view with very friendly service. Appreciated that server made a very good recommendation for a reasonably priced wine.
Great place for a business lunch where you can talk over lunch and actually hear the conversation. The food is high quality food and fast service.
They allowed us to change our reservation time. At dinner the burgers were big and delicious. The Garganelli was a disapointment. It tasted very bland and lacked flavor. The pasta tasted like it was straight from the boiling pot of water with no sauce or seasoning. Even after adding salt and pepper it still needed something to help it out-none of us cared for it. The cocktails used burgandy cherries instead of maraschino cherries--they were super good. At breakfast, even though we were guests of the hotel and our booking included breakfast, they would only seat us at the bar (even with our 6 year old child), stating that they were fully booked because it was Mother's Day...yet, half the restaurant tables were empty. But on the plus side, after we were seated at the bar, they found a table for us (even though we didn't ask them to) and we were able to move to a much more comfortable spot. The breakfast was very good-salmon & eggs Benedict were stellar and each meal came with a dressed green salad instead of fruit. The hot chocolate was made with foam instead of whipped cream which our child didn't like, but the adults did. In short, breakfast was pretty good, dinner hit and miss.
Nice outdoor seating. $20 fixed price lunch special was good! Wait people were friendly and attentive.
We had a great brunch here! Would definitely recommend to anyone in the Embarcadero area. I found Americano when I was looking for a brunch place near the Ferry Building for me and my family who were visiting. I've found that most of the places in this area are overpriced and not that great. I decided to try Americano and it surprised me! The food was good, it was less expensive than I expected, and they were able to take a 5 person reservation the night before. Inside, it was quiet and we had great service. My parents liked it and said they would love to go back when they visit again.
Was in San Francisco over Easter, so after researching options, selected this restaurant for Easter brunch. Service was excellent, but especially for the cost ($35), buffet selection was very poor. Hot items were limited to scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes, and sliced beef. Lettuce leaves were put out with a sign indicating a fresh greens salad, but it was lettuce only, with no dressing. I happened to catch a server while he was re-loading one of the items, and he offered to bring me some salad dressing. There was a bit of fruit, some bagels and rolls, and lox and cream cheese.
Very disappointed with the buffet overall. Would have thought that for an Easter brunch there would have been broader selection of hot dishes and perhaps at least an omelet bar.
Brussel Sprouts with Artichoke is very good. Just the right amount of flavor and crispiness. The kale salad with prawns was very good as well. The dressing was light, yet unexpectantly tasty.
Always good for a business meal since there are places in the restaurant where the noise is not overwhelming and you can have a conversation. The service was excellent, as always, and there is always a wide variety of food selections to choose from, including daily specials.
This will always be my number 1 place for any kind of lunch -- business, special occasion, birthday, date. Service (from Marie as hostess, through manager, to all the servers) are first rate, and the food is excellent no matter the choice. I have 2 special occasion lunches this week, and I've booked them both at Americano. Why go anywhere else?
